Message: A PLACE IN THE PALACE

2 Samuel 9:1–13

“You may not look like someone who belongs in the palace, but God's purpose is greater than my history. There is still a seat for you at the table.”

Mephibosheth was the son of Jonathan and grandson of Saul, yet he was living in Lo-debar, far away from the palace.

His environment did not look like his destiny.

He had experienced loss. He had become crippled. He had been separated from the palace. But his location had not cancelled his identity.

1. YOUR LOCATION IS NOT YOUR DESTINATION

Mephibosheth was in Lo-debar, but Lo-debar was not the end of his story.

Sometimes your present situation does not look anything like God's purpose for your life.

Don't mistake where you are now for where God is taking you.

2. YOUR HISTORY DOES NOT HAVE THE FINAL WORD

When Mephibosheth stood before David, he saw himself through the lens of his history.

But David saw him through the lens of covenant.

You may see yourself according to what happened to you, but God sees you according to what He has purposed for you.

Your history may explain where you have been, but it does not determine where God's grace can take you.

3. THERE IS STILL A SEAT AT THE TABLE

David didn't merely send food to Mephibosheth in Lo-debar.

He brought him into the palace, restored his inheritance, and gave him a permanent place at the king's table.

He did not earn his seat. It was covenant mercy and grace.

You may feel forgotten, disqualified, or pushed into your own Lo-debar.

But hear this:

> There is still a seat at the table.

Your history is not greater than God's covenant.
Your condition is not greater than God's grace.
Your location is not greater than God's purpose.

Your past may have taken you to Lo-debar, but God's mercy can bring you to the palace.

Your story is not finished.
There is still a seat at the table.

I speak prophetically into your life that you shall be remembered for good and whatever it seems you've lost, shall be restored in the name of Jesus. Amen.
