AMONG THE IMPORTANCE OF THESE BEAUTIFUL 10 DAYS OF DHUL HIJJAH
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) than these ten days.”
The companions asked, “Not even striving in the cause of Allah?”
He replied, “Not even striving in the cause of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth, then returns with nothing from that.”
This hadith explains the greatness of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, the immense reward of righteous deeds performed in them, and their great importance in Islam.
Among the greatest of all good deeds is performing the five daily prayers at their proper times. Next is fasting, for no one knows the exact reward of fasting except Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), as narrated by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Other righteous deeds include offering sacrifices, giving charity, showing kindness to our parents, spouses, children, relatives, neighbors, and humanity at large. We should also strive to abstain from sins, evil actions, and every form of wrongdoing.
These and many other good deeds that we already know should become our watchword during these blessed and sacred days.
Do not forget that these days are also filled with opportunities to ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) for all that you need. They are days in which the doors of the heavens are opened and supplications are answered.
May Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) keep us steadfast upon His religion and accept all our righteous deeds as acts of worship.
