✨ *Sermon Highlights* ✨

Today’s sermon was a timely and life-transforming message as Pastor (Dr.) Jiya Jonathan taught on the topic: *“Overcoming the Depravity and Devices of Envy in Men.”*

The message exposed the dangers and destructive effects of envy while emphasizing the need for believers to walk in love, contentment, purity of heart, and spiritual maturity. Through the teaching, brethren were encouraged to guard their hearts against jealousy, bitterness, and unhealthy comparisons, while embracing godly character and genuine love for one another.

Indeed, it was a powerful session filled with deep spiritual insights, self-reflection, and practical lessons for victorious Christian living.

David’s victory was not rooted in physical strength, appearance, or human ability. The true secret behind his victories was the presence of God upon his life and His absolute faith in God and the power of His might.

While others saw only a shepherd boy, God saw a heart that was humble, yielded, and devoted to Him. From the sheepfold to the palace, David continually depended on God, and that divine presence distinguished him everywhere he went.

The Spirit of the Lord upon David gave him courage before Goliath, wisdom in leadership, victory in battles, and grace before men. His life proves that when God is with a man, limitations become opportunities for divine manifestation.

Be careful, little eyes, what you see; what you give your attention and gaze to.
The little immoral scenes, the little worldly reels, the little ungodly pictures, the little reading of corrupt write-ups, the little movies that weaken your convictions...

Be careful, little mouth, what you say.
The little exaggerations, the little lies, the little flatterings, the little graceless words, the little gossip disguised as “gist”...

Be careful, little ears, what you hear.
The little secular songs that stir ungodly passions, the little gossip, the little backbiting, the little conversations that pollute your mind, the little dirty jokes that slowly kill your spiritual sensitivity...

Be careful, little mind, what you think.
The little lustful thoughts, the little jealousy, the little bitterness, the little pride, the little imagination of evil, the little envy over another person’s success...

Be careful, little hands, what you do.
The little touching of the opposite s*x when you know you shouldn’t, the little taking of people’s things without their knowledge...

Be careful, little legs, where you go.
The little visit to that bar “just to take a soft drink,” the little attendance at the places you know weaken your walk with God...

Be careful, little heart, what you love.
The little attachment to worldly pleasures, the little love for praise from men, the little desire to fit in at the expense of holiness, the little idols secretly competing with God in your heart...

Be careful, dear sister.
Be careful, dear brother.

“A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.” (Galatians 5:9)

Sin often begins with “just once,” “just a little,” “everyone is doing it,” or “it’s not that serious.” What is tolerated today may become a bo***ge tomorrow if not dealt with quickly.

May we not ignore the warnings of the Holy Spirit.
May we not silence conviction.
May we not become comfortable with what once troubled our conscience.

May the Lord grant us the grace to guard our hearts, discipline our flesh, flee every appearance of evil, and remain steadfast in holiness until the end.

Amen.

13/05/2026

“What if I submit the application and do not get accepted?”
“What if I fail?”
“What if I’m not enough?”
“What if it doesn’t work out?”

But what if God is the One leading you to take that step?

What if the opportunity you’re afraid of is the answer to prayers you once cried over?
What if your obedience opens doors your fear has kept shut?
What if God has already gone ahead of you?

Sometimes, fear speaks louder than faith, but throughout Scripture, God never asked people to have everything figured out before moving. He simply said, “Go,” and promised to be with them.

Moses felt inadequate.
Gideon felt weak.
Jeremiah felt too young.
Peter felt unworthy.
Yet God still used them mightily because His strength is perfected in weakness.

Stop letting fear make decisions for you.
Pray about it. Trust God. Take the step. Submit the application.

You may not know the outcome, but you know the One who holds your future.

I remember the first time He called my name.

“Modupe…”

It was gentle, yet it carried a weight that reached deep into places I had buried for so long.

I looked around, confused, almost startled. No one had called me like that before… not with that kind of knowing. I turned again and then I saw Him.

My heart sank.

Why was He calling me?

Surely, He hadn’t seen me clearly yet. He hadn’t seen the stains, the regrets, the hidden wounds, the choices I wished I could undo. If He had… He wouldn’t be coming closer.

But He kept walking toward me.

Step by step.

And suddenly, He was right in front of me.

I couldn’t look up anymore.

Shame wrapped itself tightly around me, and I bowed my head, waiting, waiting for the disappointment, the rejection… the distance I had grown used to.

I had heard about Him.

I knew who He was; holy, pure, righteous.

And me?

I felt like everything He shouldn’t come near.

“If He stays here,” I thought, “if He’s seen with me… won’t people question Him? Won’t I ruin His reputation ?”

Then I felt it.

His presence… closer than I expected.

And slowly, I looked up.

His hands were stretched toward me in invitation.

I stepped back quickly.

“I’m sorry… Sir… you don’t want to…” My voice broke before I could finish.

But He didn’t withdraw.

“Modupe,” He said softly, “let Me help you.”

“Let Me repair your life. Let Me give it meaning again. I can heal you… make you whole. I can give you a new beginning. I can make your life beautiful again.”

Something inside me resisted.

Not because I didn’t want it, but because it felt too good… too undeserved.

I let out a small, broken laugh.

“Have you met me?” I whispered.
“Do you know the kind of woman I’ve been?”

“I make all things new,” He said.

Not “some things.”
Not “almost everything.”

All things.

“Just say yes,” He continued, “and watch what My love can do in your life. I already paid the price for your redemption. You don’t have to stay here, in this pain, in this place any longer.”

My heart trembled.

Could it really be that simple?

Could someone see all of me… and still want me?

Then He called my name again.

“Modupe…”

This time, it broke me.

Slowly… hesitantly… I stretched out my hands. They shook as I placed them into His.

I expected hesitation, but instead, He held me.

And in that moment… everything changed.

He lifted me out of the mire I thought I would die in, out of the shame I thought would define me forever.

He set my feet on solid ground, and for the first time in a long time… I could breathe.

I could see.

I could hope.

Now, I look at my life and sometimes I still pause… because I remember that moment.

That encounter.

That love I didn’t think I deserved… but received anyway.

Today, I am not who I used to be.

I am whole.
I am healed.
I am saved.
I am living with purpose.

Not because I fixed myself…

But because He found me.

Jesus happened to me, and my life has never been the same.

So I ask you…

Have you met Him?

Not just heard about Him, but truly met Him?

Because He is still calling names… even now.

Maybe… He’s calling yours.

And if He is, what will your answer be?
