My Sermon for the Last Sunday of 2024

Sermon Title: Hope for a Glorious 2025

Opening Scripture:
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

Introduction
As we gather today on this last Sunday of 2024, we stand at the threshold of a new year. It's a moment to reflect, to give thanks for God’s faithfulness, and to look forward with hope and expectation. The dawn of 2025 is not merely the start of another calendar year but a divine opportunity for renewal, restoration, and progress in our walk with God.

1. Hope Anchored in God’s Promises
Our hope for the future is not based on circumstances but on the unchanging promises of God. In Isaiah 43:19, God declares:
"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

As we face uncertainties, we can trust that God is at work, creating pathways where there seem to be none.
Let this be a year where we hold tightly to His Word, knowing that His promises never fail (Numbers 23:19).
2. A Call to Renewed Vision
2025 is a blank canvas, and God invites us to partner with Him to paint a picture of faith, love, and purpose.

In Habakkuk 2:2, the Lord says:
"Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it."
Enter this year with clarity of purpose. Seek God’s guidance for your family, career, ministry, and personal life.
Trust that He will lead you step by step, as promised in Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
3. Hope Through the Power of Prayer
Prayer is our lifeline to God, and it fuels our hope. In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul reminds us:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

As we step into 2025, let us make prayer a daily priority.
Pray for wisdom, for strength, and for God's will to be done in every aspect of our lives.
4. Hope that is Rooted in Christ
Our ultimate hope is in Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Jesus Himself said in John 10:10, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
No matter what challenges or trials may come in the year ahead, we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us (Romans 8:37).
5. A Year of Abundant Blessings
As we remain faithful to God, we can trust in His provision and blessings.

Psalm 65:11 declares:
"You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance."
This promise is not just about material wealth but about spiritual growth, divine opportunities, and the joy of knowing Him more intimately.

Practical Steps for 2025

Reflect: Take time to review 2024 and thank God for His mercies and lessons.
Plan: Set realistic, God-inspired goals for the new year.
Pray: Commit your plans to the Lord, seeking His guidance daily.
Serve: Find ways to serve others in your community and church.
Trust: Lean on God’s promises, no matter the challenges.
Conclusion
As we step into 2025, let our hearts be filled with hope and confidence, knowing that God is with us every step of the way. Remember the words of Romans 15:13:
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Call to Action
Let us dedicate the new year to the Lord right now. Stand, lift your hands, and commit your life, your family, your dreams, and your challenges to Him. Together, we declare that 2025 will be a year of hope, growth, and divine favor.

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for carrying us through 2024. As we step into 2025, we trust in Your plans for us—plans to prosper us and to give us hope. May Your presence go before us, and may this year bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Blessing
"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace." - Numbers 6:24-26

Mat 1:23 Listen! A virgin will be pregnant, she will give birth to a Son, and he will be known as “Emmanuel,” which means in Hebrew, “God became one of us.”

1Co 1:21 For in his wisdom, God designed that all the world’s wisdom would be insufficient to lead people to the discovery of himself. He took great delight in baffling the wisdom of the world by using the simplicity of preaching the story of the cross in order to save those who believe it.

Why Should God Sacrifice His Son to Deliver Us from a Satan He Created?
The question of why God, in His sovereignty, would choose to sacrifice His Son, Jesus Christ, to deliver humanity from a Satan He created, challenges both believers and skeptics. It touches on deep issues of justice, love, free will, and the grand plan of salvation. To understand this, we must dive into the Bible to see how God's perfect plan unfolded.
1. The Creation and Fall of Satan
Satan, originally known as Lucifer, was not created as an evil being. He was an angel created in beauty and power, but through pride and rebellion, he became the adversary of God and humanity.
• Ezekiel 28:12-15: "You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty... You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you."
• Isaiah 14:12-14: These verses describe Lucifer's fall from heaven due to his desire to ascend above God...

Why God Can Only Forgive Sins Based on Blood Sacrifice
The concept of blood sacrifice as a requirement for the forgiveness of sins is central to the Christian faith. The scripture in Hebrews 9:22 clearly states:
"And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."
This reveals a profound truth about the necessity of bloodshed for atonement and forgiveness. But why is this the case? To understand, we must dive into the nature of sin, God’s holiness, and the ultimate purpose of sacrifice in the Bible.

1. The Seriousness of Sin
God's holiness is absolute, and His standards are perfect. Sin, therefore, is a violation of God’s law and a transgression against His very nature. Romans 3:23 reminds us that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Sin is not just an action, but a condition that separates humanity from a holy God.

Because of sin, the human race is under the sentence of death. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Death, in this context, is both physical and spiritual, symbolizing eternal separation from God. This means that a price must be paid to restore the relationship between God and humanity.
