The message of the cross is the power of God, working in its believers total deliverance from the burden and bo***ge of sin, self, sickness and Satan. It is God's strategy for the reconciliation of lost man to the gracious Father God, destruction of the body of death and the emergence of the God-life.

At the cross of Jesus Christ, Fiery Wrath and Fervent Mercy collided and mercy won. And so therefrom flows all the great graces of God and His glorious bounties towards all who look upon the Son of God on the cross, and believe on Him.

When preached with the power of God and the utterance of the Spirit, it is the effectual answer of God to all the problems of fallen man. The cross is indeed God's answer to the problem of sin, Satan, self, and yes, sicknesses.

In this year's INGATHERING, as we by the Spirit, look upon the cross of Jesus Christ, there will be an abundant supply of God's grace. There will be salvation for the sin-burdened soul, deliverance from addictions, the flesh, and Satanic oppression. There will be healings, of broken hearts and sick bodies; and much more!

Join us this as we explore by the mercies of God, the mystery of the cross of Jesus Christ.

ON PRAYER

The object of pursuit, and the desired reward of true prayer, is God.

Prayer, for the sake of prayer, will do us no good. But prayer, for the sake of God—oh, what bliss! It is well if in our hunger for God the Holy Spirit keeps us labouring for many hours. But if for some carnal reason we do so, such as to mark time, then we merely labour as fools.

Prayer is the desperate heart cry of the beloved to the Loving God; it is engaged in as God draws a man and causes him to approach His throne. It is not for the man to impress his peers therewith, nor to prove that he can pray long. The prayer endeavour lasts as long as it takes for the seeking soul to be satisfied by God, not as long as it takes for the clock to hit a mark. God alone is the satisfaction of the true seeker. Nothing else will satisfy him.

"As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for You, O God. I thirst for God, the Living God. When can I go and stand before Him?" (Psalm 42:1-2 NLT)

"Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to approach unto Thee, that he may dwell in Thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, even of Thy holy temple." (Psalm 65:4 KJV)

There are times when an hour will bless the soul well, and there are times when many days will not suffice for the Beloved to unburden himself before God, as well as for God to minister truth, peace, joy and rest to his disquieted soul.

Praying for the sake of God—to seek His face is without pomp or publicity. The seeker simply comes with true desire, humbly, sincerely, and desperately to seek God. There is no iota of vainglory in his labour, as he prays to the Father who sees in secret. Deep calls to deep...

He comes, not merely to pass time, or to arm himself with something to boast about among men, but to meet with God his King, and to look upon His precious face.

"My heart has heard You say, "Come and talk with Me." And my heart responds, "LORD, I am coming." " (Psalm 27:8 NLT)

Talking TO God is good. But talking WITH God, rather, that is better. It is indeed the deeper, richer, fuller Christian prayer. Let us be more keen to listen than to speak. Let us be the generation that is led by the Spirit, and not by the hurried ticking and flipping of clocks and calendars.

"This is the generation of them that seek Him, that seek Thy face, O [God of] Jacob. Selah." (Psalm 24:6 KJV)

It is a glorious thing that God has granted us such great zeal for prayer—praise God for this! But let us in our zeal yield to the Spirit ever more, relish the presence of God and savour it well. Let us take care to be reverent worshippers, and maximise the presence of Jesus.

Let us learn to hallow God and hallow His presence; to stay with God and wait upon Him, in deep desire and heartfelt longing; in inutterable groanings and staid silence, in joyful praise and fearful trembling; in reverent worship and loving adoration; until the rivers of His presence breaks upon us and overflows us.

"Glory ye in His holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord, and His strength: seek His face evermore." (Psalm 105:3-4 KJV)

May the God of all grace grant us mercy, cause us to approach, pull us back from the Martha-esque frenzy we are now in and revive in us the heart of Mary. The heart that seeks His face.

May we again cry as those blessed disciples did, "Oh Lord Jesus, TEACH US TO PRAY!"

THE NEWS WAS WRONG THEN; IT IS WRONG NOW

Fifty days had passed since the ominous crucifixion of the Nazarene called Jesus. The Jews, from all over the world, had returned to the holy city of Jerusalem to celebrate the hallowed Feast of Pentecost. The intensity of activity in the city had hit peak point in the ancient city and, as you can imagine, the attention of all of the town, and indeed all of the Roman Empire, was fixed on that feast.

You can just picture the headlines of all the tabloids and media publications competing for which had the catchiest phrases. I often imagine the headlines go, "PLENTY COST FOR PENTECOST: Analysis of the Economics of a Jewish Feast," or, "PENTECOST, THE FEAST YOU MUST: Theologians Access the Importance of the Jewish Feast."

So if you were getting your news from the dailies on that particular day of Pentecost, you would have been inundated by the news of how much food and wine was consumed, and the economic impact of the global migration it precipitated. Culture savants and experts would have regaled you with tales of the splendour of Jewish culture, and the savour of their cuisine. Political analysts would have dissected the political capital and the risks it portended for imperial Rome. You would have been lost in all the razzmatazz.

You probably would not have known of the shakings and utterances that had taken, and were taking place, in the Spirit. You would not have been told that that Jesus who was crucified publicly fifty days earlier had risen again and had ascended to Heaven. You would not have known that upon that day, He had assumed the highest Throne in the heavenlies and the Holy Spirit of God had been poured out on men; and that, as a matter of fact, somewhere in one of the inns in the city--your city, one hundred and twenty men and women had gathered (pupils of the Nazarene whom the government, politicians, social analysts, and even theologians, along with the masses, had presumed dead) and were participating in that very Divine spectacle.

You probably would have been buying and selling wine and kebabs, in an effort to improve your economic fortunes. You would not be anywhere near the upper room, where those one hundred and twenty 'outcasts' were keeping watch. And even if you were, you probably would have come only after you had heard what you (alongside the other observers) eventually decided was senseless babbling. You would have joined the band of mockers who would summarily dismiss the men speaking in other tongues as drunken noisemakers wasting their time and lives.

You would think that you were making good use of your time. What the news wouldn't have shown you was that Time as you knew it was about to be disrupted, and history was about to be altered forever.

Days or months before the feast, you probably would have hit the gym to get in your best shape, or you'd be hounding your tailors across Jerusalem for a great Pentecost fashion statement. You would want to look your best in order to impress your admirers who hadn't seen you all year long, and not exactly join those pupils of the "dead" Nazarene to keep a fast or pray. That would be old-school things. Hello? Haven't they seen the news? The Romans crucified their Leader and He's dead, dead, dead.

But you would have been wrong, and dangerously so. You would have missed the epoch, your chance to enter into reality. We would have been reading of you today, as part of a nameless group of "certain men," renowned for being "mockers." You would have missed God, and it would have been because you did not discern the season of your visitation.

Luke 19:41-44;

"Now as He [Jesus] drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,
saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.
For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,
and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

Dearly beloved, we are once again in such a time as that great day of Pentecost two millennia ago. The news is once again telling the wrong stories. The Spirit of Truth, however, is broadcasting accurate signals. Whose report will you believe?

We will not squander this season in wanton escapades of mundane pursuit, or miss the realities of the season because of the unfortunate siege of spiritual ignorance.

This AUGUST, from the 26th-29th, a number of disciples will gather again to behold the excellencies of the great King of Heaven. Join us at Jubilation Camp, Masaka, Karu, Nasarawa State as we BEHOLD HIM. It is time for the latter rain!
