The Anxious Christian

Why "Just Trusting God" Isn't Always the Answer to your Anxiety

For years, you’ve sat in the pew and smiled through the panic. You’ve heard the well-meaning platitudes: "Just give it to God," "Worry is a sin," or "If you really trusted Him, you wouldn't feel this way".

But here you are. Your heart is hammering, your vision is tunneling, and you are quietly drowning in a "low hum of dread" that won't go away—all while you lead small groups or raise your children.

If you feel like your anxiety is proof that your faith is broken, I have a message for you: You are not broken. You are human.

The "Double Suffering" of the Anxious Christian

In the Christian community, we often experience what I call the "Shame Spiral". It’s a terrible arithmetic: you don’t just suffer from anxiety; you suffer from the belief that a "good Christian" shouldn’t have it in the first place.

You get the panic attack, and then you get the guilt trip. You spiral, and then you spiral about your spiraling. This shame doesn't heal anxiety—it feeds it.

What the Bible Actually Says About Your Worry

We tend to think of biblical heroes as marble statues—serene and immovable. But when you look at the text, you find "trembling flesh":

Moses argued with God because he felt inadequate and terrified of failure.
Elijah collapsed in the desert and asked God to let him die after a period of intense stress.
David doused his bed with tears and described his heart "melting like wax" from panic.
Jesus in Gethsemane experienced such acute distress that he sweated drops of blood.
These people weren't disqualified by their anxiety; they were met by God right in the middle of it.

Faith, Science, and the "Renewing of the Mind"

A loving God did not give us brains and then forbid us from studying them. Neuroscience shows that anxiety is often a "mis-calibrated" security system in the brain (the amygdala) that sends false alarms.

God is no more embarrassed by an overactive nervous system than He is by a broken bone. Healing isn't about praying until the feeling vanishes; it’s about the "renewing of the mind"—a slow, biological and spiritual renovation of the house you live in.

You must not be in a romantic relationship with someone before you can love and care about that person.

Don't force someone into a relationship, don't even think of persuading anyone into loving you, always give them time and allow the love to grow. for love is not ours to command.

I want you to know that there is always a way. It may not be easy, it may not be convenient, it may not come quickly. You may have to go over, under, around, or through. But if you will simply keep on keeping on and refuse to give up, you will find a way.

In bed, I was asking myself; "what are some of the secrets to success in life?" I found the answer right there in my very room. The fan said,"be cool", the roof said, "aim high", the window said, "see the world" ,the clock said, "every minute is precious", the mirror said, "reflect before you act". The calendar said, "be up to date". The door said, "push hard for your goals". The Rug said "kneel down and pray".The toilet said "flush the Bad habits that will deter u from becoming someone influential in life! The Bible laughed and said, "read me for direction".
