Resourcefulness and Faithfulness in Little

Lessons from Luke 16
In Luke 16, Jesus teaches a powerful lesson on resourcefulness and faithfulness, using everyday matters to reveal eternal truths. Through the parable of the shrewd manager, Jesus highlights not dishonesty, but wisdom in stewardship—the ability to handle what is entrusted to us with foresight and responsibility.
Jesus concludes with a timeless principle:

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much” (Luke 16:10).

This statement establishes that greatness in God’s kingdom begins with faithfulness in small things. God often tests our hearts through minor responsibilities—time, finances, relationships, and opportunities. How we manage these reveals our readiness for greater assignments.

Resourcefulness, as taught by Jesus, is not about manipulation but wise use of available resources for godly purposes. Believers are called to be intentional, diligent, and thoughtful, recognizing that everything we possess belongs to God. When we maximize what seems small, God multiplies its impact.

Faithfulness in little also builds character. It trains us in discipline, integrity, and dependence on God rather than on material wealth. Jesus warns that we cannot serve both God and money, reminding us that our loyalty determines our stewardship.
Ultimately, this is a call for believers to live with eternal perspective—using earthly resources wisely while remaining faithful to God. When we honor God in the small things, we position ourselves for greater trust, greater influence, and lasting reward in His kingdom.
