Mark 5
WHAT TO SAY WHEN WE GO WITNNESS FOR CHRIST
1.) The healed demoniac wanted to be with Jesus always but Jesus told him: “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you” (v. 19).
“And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled” (v.20).
2.) The woman with an issue of blood believed that by touching the garment of Jesus she would be healed. She did and immediately she was healed. On this Ellen White comments:
“To the curious crowd pressing about Jesus there was imparted no vital power. But the suffering woman who touched Him in faith received healing. So in spiritual things does the casual contact differ from the touch of faith. To believe in Christ merely as the Saviour of the world can never bring healing to the soul. The faith that is unto salvation is not a mere assent to the truth of the gospel. True faith is that which receives Christ as a personal Saviour.” MH 62
Life Applications
1.) What Jesus told the demoniac is what He is telling every baptized Adventist: to go tell our people what He has done for us. We do not need a seminary training to do that. If every Adventist would tell the people in his or her four worlds (family, friends, neighbors, and workmates) what Jesus has done for him or her, the gospel proclamation in the world will soon be finished and Jesus will come to take us home (see Matt. 24:14).
2.) The woman with the issue of blood has taught us that “to believe in Christ merely as the Saviour of the world can never bring healing to the soul. The faith that is unto salvation is not a mere assent to the truth of the gospel. True faith is that which receives Christ as a personal Saviour.” MH 62
