THANKSGIVING: KEY TO VISIBILITY
Main Text: Psalm 50:14–15, 23
Supporting Texts: Luke 17:11–19; John 6:1–13; 1 Samuel 2:30; Psalm 92:1–2
Introduction
Thanksgiving is more than saying “Thank You, Jesus.” It is a spiritual posture of recognizing God as the source of our lives, blessings, preservation, breakthroughs, and testimonies.
There are many people who desire visibility, recognition, favour, promotion, open doors, and divine remembrance, but one of the biblical principles that positions a person for greater visibility is genuine thanksgiving.
When we thank God, we acknowledge Him. And when God is acknowledged, He has a way of causing His children to be noticed, remembered, and lifted.
Thanksgiving can move what God has done in secret into a testimony that becomes visible.
1. WHAT IS THANKSGIVING?
Thanksgiving is the deliberate expression of gratitude to God for who He is and for what He has done.
It means recognizing that:
God is the source of our blessings.
God is responsible for our preservation.
God deserves the glory for our testimonies.
We are not self-made; we are God-made.
Psalm 92:1–2 says:
“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD…”
Thanksgiving is therefore not merely an emotional response; it is a spiritual discipline.
There are two levels of thanksgiving:
1. Thanksgiving for what God has done.
We thank Him for answered prayers, provision, healing, protection, promotion and other blessings.
2. Thanksgiving for who God is.
Even when we cannot see the answer yet, we thank Him because He remains God.
A mature believer does not say, “I will thank God when everything becomes perfect.”
Instead, he says:
“Even before I see it, I know God is faithful.”
2. THANKSGIVING ATTRACTS DIVINE ATTENTION
Consider the story of the ten lepers in Luke 17:11–19.
Ten were healed, but only one returned to give thanks.
Jesus asked:
“Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”
The ten received healing, but the one who returned received
