TOPIC: The Condition For Forgiveness
BIBLE READING: Mark 11:25-26
One of the greatest challenges to our relationship with God is forgiveness. We tend to forgive on our terms, at our convenience or when it suits our needs. All excuses and. rationalizations about forgiveness must always be filtered through the word of God. This is because we are sinners before God, we are all as unclean thing, and our righteousness are as filthy rags (Isa. 64:6), for all of us have fallen short of the glory of God (Rom.3:23). Jesus says, that one of the conditions for our prayers to be heard and answered is to make sure that we have forgiven our fellow man. Yes, we have no inherent right to be heard by God; all is by his grace, and undeserved favour, yet unless we forgive, it shows that we have no consciousness of the grace that we ourselves have received through forgiveness. To be honest with ourselves, we have to admit that forgiveness is hard and sometimes feels impossible. But forgiveness releases the power of the love of Jesus Christ into our a prerequisite for an answerable prayer, we are commanded to forgive before we pray. In this passage we hearts and enables us to grow. As those who offend us can see the need for mutual forgiveness - that we can never expect God to forgive us when we fail I to forgive our fellow brother or sister. God is a God of steadfast love and forgiveness and He empowers us to forgive one another as well.
LESSON: Un-forgiveness can hinder our prayers from being answered.
PRAYER: Lord, enable me to forgive my fellow men.
