"God speaks to His people in different ways. Sometimes He speaks

through His Word, sometimes through circumstances,

and at other times He may speak through a vision.

The Bible gives us several examples of God communicating with His

servants through visions.
In the Old Testament, Ezekiel wrote:

“The heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.”
(Ezekiel 1:1).

And in the New Testament, John wrote:

“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet…” (Revelation 1:10).

We experienced something similar many times when we were preparing to go into the villages to preach the Gospel.

NO ROADS. NO MAPS. JUST THE JUNGLE

In Timor, travelling from one village to another was not always easy.

There were very few roads, and we had no maps to guide us.

Instead, there were small paths and trails winding through the jungles.

If you had already visited a particular village, you might remember the way.

But if you had never been there before, finding it could be extremely difficult.

Imagine being told to go and preach in a village you had never visited before

— without a proper road, without a map and without anyone to guide you.

WHERE WOULD YOU EVEN BEGIN?

That was often our situation. So we would pray.

And many times, as we prayed, THE LORD WOULD GIVE US A VISION.

I have sometimes described it as being like LOOKING AT GOD'S TELEVISION.

Through the vision, the Lord would show us things we needed to know about the journey.

He might show us that we were to go straight ahead.
Then He

might show us certain trees we would encounter.

After that, we might have to cross a river. The instructions were not necessarily complicated.

But they were specific enough to help us find our way through

places where there were no proper roads or maps.

WE WROTE DOWN WHAT GOD SHOWED US

Whenever the Lord gave us these directions, we would write them down.

We did not simply say,

“We Think This Is The Way.”

We recorded what had been shown to us and then followed the instructions. So we would set out.

We would walk through the jungle, following the directions we had received.

GO STRAIGHT.
LOOK FOR THE TREES.
CROSS THE RIVER.

Step by step, we followed the guidance.

And eventually, we would arrive at the very place where we were supposed to go.

What made these experiences even more remarkable was

that sometimes the Lord would reveal more than simply the route.

When we arrived, we would often already know HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD

BE THERE AND WHAT SOME OF THEIR NEEDS WOULD BE.

The Lord had shown us these things beforehand.

This meant that when we finally reached the village, we were not simply arriving at an unknown destination.

We knew that God had sent us there.

GOD KNOWS THE WAY WHEN WE DON'T

Looking back, these experiences taught us an important lesson.

We did not need to know everything before we started.

We simply needed to know WHO WAS SENDING US.
The jungle might have been unfamiliar.

The paths might have been confusing. There might have been no map to consult.

But God knew exactly where the village was.

And if He wanted us to reach that village to preach the Gospel, He was able to show us the way.

That is the confidence we learned to have:

WHEN GOD SENDS YOU, HE CAN ALSO GUIDE YOU.

• We did not have the road.

• We did not have the map.

But we had the Lord." narrated Mel Tari.

🔥THEY HAD NO SOAP—BUT GOD KEPT THEIR CLOTHES CLEAN! | MEL TARI’S MIRACLE EXPERIENCES (PART 8)

Mel Tari said,

"In Indonesia, there were times when even something as simple as keeping our clothes clean became a real challenge.

One day, we went to a village outside of Soe to preach the Gospel.

We thought we would be there for only one day, so each of us took just ONE SET OF CLOTHES.

We did not bring extra clothes to change into.
But in Timor, one day

of travelling and ministering could make your clothes very dirty.

The heat, sweat and dust quickly covered them, and before long,

the clothes we were wearing were no longer looking clean or neat.

Then we discovered another problem. THERE WAS NO SOAP IN THE VILLAGE.

We looked at our clothes and wondered what we were going to do.

“Our clothes are dirty. What will we do?” we asked the Lord.

• We had no soap.

• We had no extra clothes.

And we were going to remain in the village for several days.

So we simply prayed. We did not have any other solution.

And then something happened that we could not explain naturally.

AS WE PRAYED, OUR CLOTHES BECAME CLEAN.
The Lord simply took care of the problem.

Day after day, although we remained in that village and had no soap

with which to wash our clothes, our clothes remained clean.

We continued to look neat as we went about preaching and ministering to the people.

The people in the village noticed it. They could not understand what was happening.

“These people look so neat and clean,” they said.

They saw us day after day, yet our clothes continued to look clean even though we had no soap and no extra clothes.

We knew where the answer had come from. GOD HAD PROVIDED

FOR A NEED THAT WAS BEYOND OUR ABILITY TO SOLVE.

When we eventually returned to Soe, where we had soap available,

we had to wash our clothes because they became dirty again.

That experience taught us something important about God's miracles.

GOD HAS A PURPOSE IN EVERY MIRACLE
We should never think that

God performs miracles simply to entertain us or to make life unnecessarily easy.

There must be a need. There must be a purpose.

And when God performs a miracle, He wants His name to be glorified through it.

That is why we should not expect God to perform miracles when there is no genuine need for one.

God knows what we need, and He knows exactly when His intervention is necessary.

I have seen this principle even in the extraordinary cases where God raised people from the dead.

God has raised perhaps ten to fifteen people from the dead in Indonesia.

But think about it for a moment. If I died and you prayed for

God to raise me back to life, I would not necessarily agree with you!

I want to go to Heaven and be with Jesus. God does not raise people

from the dead merely because someone wants to see a miracle.

When He does something like that, THERE IS A SPECIAL PURPOSE BEHIND IT.

The same principle applied to our clothes in that village.

• We had a genuine need.

• We had no soap.

• We had no extra clothing.

• We could not solve the problem ourselves.

So we prayed—and God intervened.

It may seem like a small miracle compared with healing the sick or

raising the dead, but it reminded us of something very important:

GOD CARES ABOUT THE NEEDS OF HIS CHILDREN.

Whether the need appears great or small, we can bring it to Him.

And when He chooses to intervene, the purpose is never merely to make us marvel at the miracle.

IT IS TO REVEAL HIS FAITHFULNESS AND BRING GLORY TO HIS NAME.

There were many other extraordinary miracles we witnessed in Indonesia,

including cases where God raised people from the dead.

🔥GOD GAVE THEM A CLOUD AS AN UMBRELLA! | MEL TARI’S MIRACLE EXPERIENCES (PART 7)

"Sometimes we had to travel during the daytime, and travelling in

Indonesia could be extremely difficult because of the intense heat.

Many times the temperature would rise to 90, even 120 degrees.

When you walked under such a hot sun, you could feel exhausted.

But God knew what we needed. HE GAVE US A PILLAR OF CLOUD!

God placed the cloud in the sky, and its shadow came over us.

As we moved forward, the shadow moved forward with us.

It was just like walking under a huge umbrella from heaven!

We praised the Lord because He had provided exactly what we needed.

He was reminding us that He is concerned about even the practical needs of His children.

The Bible says:

“MY GOD SHALL SUPPLY ALL YOUR NEED ACCORDING

TO HIS RICHES IN GLORY BY CHRIST JESUS” (PHILIPPIANS 4:19).

I believe that if you need bread, God can give you bread.

If you need money, God can provide money. If you need physical healing, He can meet that need.

And if you need spiritual healing, He can meet that need too.

I have told you many things about miracles, but PLEASE DO NOT

PUT TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON THE MIRACLES. Instead, PUT YOUR EYES UPON JESUS.

We want Jesus to minister to our hearts and our lives.

We want Him to use us for His glory, just as He used us in Indonesia.

We often sing:

“IT IS NO SECRET WHAT GOD CAN DO.” But do we really mean what we sing?

My prayer is that God will use you in America in the same way He used us in Indonesia.

THE MIRACLE IS WONDERFUL— BUT JESUS IS GREATER THAN THE MIRACLE.

So, whatever your need may be today, LOOK TO JESUS.
HE IS OUR PROVIDER,

"One of the brothers was told he had liquor hidden in his house.

“No, I don’t have any there.” He said, and refused to repent.

The Lord told the people that were ministering to him that if he didn’t repent, he would die in 24 hours.

So they told him that he had only 24 hours to confess this, or he would die.

The next day when the man came to the meeting, he was told that he had only one hour left to repent.

“If you don’t repent, you’ll die.” The people said.
“I don’t care; I don’t have a liquor,” he said.

“Now you have only a half an hour.” They told him.
“Ah, you’re crazy.

I have more than that,” he replied. When they got within five minutes of the

time, they tried to help him, but he still said, “No, I don’t have any secret sin.”

“Please they begged him, “confess your sin.” Then there were only thirty seconds left, and he said,

“Nah, don’t tell me that stuff. You’re crazy.” Finally, they pleaded as

others counted: 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2, Then the man fell down and died.

There are so many people who brought their sins into the light and asked the Lord to forgive them.

In the Indonesian revival, confession was one of the characteristics, for the Lord wanted us to

be set free from demonic power and to cleanse our hearts so we could live holy lives.

First, the Lord would bring all of our sins to light. Then we would

ask Him to forgive us and heal our broken hearts.

We would renounce all demonic relationships of the past. After this, God enabled

us to preach the gospel. When we went out, we would see the power of God moving." narrated Mel Tari.

"During the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our church, God dealt with our sins in a very personal way.

To many, He gave words of knowledge to reveal these sins.

One night a man went to one of the men in the church and said,

“Brother, you have committed adultery, and the Lord wants you repent.

You have never brought it to the light.” That brother’s wife was there, and she got mad.

“I know your secret now,” she said. “Oh, no, I’ve never done it!” the man replied.

“What do you mean, you have never done it!” the man

with the gift of knowledge said. “I tell you the details.”

And he gave the exact date, the place, and the name of the other woman involved.

And then he said, “Now can you still deny it?”

Finally, the Spirit of God fell on this man, and he confessed his sin.

His wife still continued to get mad, so the Lord sent another person to minister to her about her sin.

And she started confessing her sin, also. All over the church that night, people confessed their secret sins.

And the Lord really cleansed their lives of all of those sins and made the people ready to be used for His service.

Also, many people had witchcraft in their homes and did

not want to confess it, so the Lord would tell some other brother

in the church the exact person and place where he was keeping his fetishes.

Then he couldn’t deny it and would have to confess and get rid of it.

In this way, the Lord opened to us that night the truth concerning demonic powers.

🔥 THE CHURCH WAS ON FIRE — BUT NOTHING WAS BURNING! | MEL TARI’S MIRACLE EXPERIENCES (Part 4)

"That night we were praying together, suddenly the Holy Spirit came just as He did on the Day of Pentecost.

In Acts 2, we read that He came from heaven like the mighty rushing wind.

And that night, as I was sitting next to my sister, I heard this mighty rushing sound.

It sounded like a small tornado in the church. I looked around and saw nothing.

I turned to my sister, “Dear, do you hear a strange noise?” I asked.

“Yes.” She replied. “I do. But forget about the sound, and let’s pray.”

She began to pray, and the same time I heard many others begin to pray.

You must know that in our church, we always pray in absolute order, one by one.

For one person to pray in our church was enough, since everything is written in front of us.

If many were to pray, we had to write a whole bunch of prayers.

But that night those Presbyterians started to forget the written order

and the prayers in front of them and began to pray in the Spirit – at first one by

one, and before I knew it, they all began to pray at the same time.

“Oh, my dear Jesus, what’s going on in this church? They have forgotten the written order,” I said.

As everyone was praying, I looked at the pastors. My, what an anxious look they had on their faces.

They were sitting in the front of the church on the platform,

and they didn’t know how to handle those 200 people.

They too heard the mighty rushing wind. I looked around

again and still there was nothing moving, it was only a sound.

THEN I HEARD THE FIRE BELL RINGING LOUD AND FAST.

Across the street from the church was the police station and the fire bell.

The man in the police station saw that our church was on fire,

so he rang the bell to tell the people of the village to come quick, there was a fire.

In Indonesia, especially in Timor, we don’t have fire trucks, we just ring

the bell, and the people realize that there is a fire and come from all over

the village with their buckets of water and other things to help put out the fire.

When they got to the church, they saw the flames, but the church wasn’t burning,

instead of a natural fire, it was the fire of God because of this, many people

received Jesus Christ as their Savior and also the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Of course, being Presbyterians, we were not familiar then with the words ‘baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit.’

This was something new to us. But the Lord opened our eyes and told us that these were the

things we must experience in our lives that we couldn’t depend on the Pentecost of years ago.

🔥“WHO IS YOUR SPONSOR?” — “THE LORD JESUS!”: THEN SHE GAVE HIM THE VISA! | MEL TARI’S MIRACLE EXPERIENCES (PART 3) . . Contd. from Part 2

"I took the cable to the bank and got the money to go to Djakarta.

But when I arrived in Djakarta, I really had a problem.

HOW WAS I GOING TO GET A VISA TO AMERICA?

I had no sponsor! I went to the American vice-consul, and he did not want to give me a visa.

“Who is going to sponsor you?” he asked. “The Lord Jesus.” I replied.

“He’s a nice guy maybe.” He said. “But we cannot accept Him as your sponsor.”

I left the office that morning without a visa. After lunch – and much prayer – the Lord

told me to go back to the consulate and ask the second time for my visa.

When I returned, the vice-consul was gone, and I talked to a woman.

She turned out to be the consul. “WHO IS YOUR SPONSOR?” she asked.

“THE LORD JESUS,” I replied.

Without hesitation, she wrote out my visa and handed it to me.

“How will you live in America?” she asked.

“The Lord will supply everything I have need of. He has promised me,” I answered.

“Oh.” She said. “Maybe you will be a burden on America.”

I answered, “If the Lord Jesus can take the burden of the whole world, surely He can care for me.”

After I left, I said, “Now, Lord, You have really proven yourself.

But Lord, You know I can’t speak English very well.”

“You must go ahead and I will take care of the language problem,” the Lord said.

“IF when you get ready to speak and can’t, you tell the people, ‘My Jesus failed me.”

OFF THE PLANE

Just then I heard the giant jet engines slow down and the “fasten your seat belt” sign came on.

I heard the stewardess say, “Please fasten your seat belts as

we are preparing to land at the Los Angeles International airport.”

Oh, the joy that filled my soul. America, America, I thought.

The land where all the people trust in God. “Oh, Jesus,

thank You for letting me come to this heaven on earth.” I prayed.

“And let me know what You want me to tell these people who already know so much about You.”

Little did I realize the many times the Lord would have to prove Himself to me in America,

for I not only needed to speak English better and to have money to live on, but I also needed

to really grasp the fact that the words on the coin, “In God we trust.” were not always true.

I could hardly walk off the plane I was so excited. The building was so large and new.

It really was wonderful. I walked and walked down a long hall to a large

room where people were sitting and there were things for sale.

“OH, NO! THIS ISN’T AMERICA!” I cried.

“The devil has made the plane land at the wrong place.”

Everywhere I looked I saw dirty books, bars with liquor, and everyone

seemed to be smoking. What’s wrong? I thought. God help me!

🔥NO MONEY. NO TICKET. ONLY 2 DAYS TO GO! — THEN GOD MADE A WAY | MEL TARI’S MIRACLE EXPERIENCES (PART 2)

"Many other confirmations followed. One night after we had prayed together in the

church, the Lord said, “Go now!” Prepare to leave the day after tomorrow.”

“Oh no, God, this is impossible, “I replied.

“There is no way I could ever raise that money so soon. I do not have one single coin in my pocket.”

But the Lord insisted. “Tell your friends and family that you will leave for the United states in two days.”

I had better not tell them they will think I am crazy, I thought.

But because God kept telling me to, I obeyed even though it looked impossible.

“The day after tomorrow I will leave for America.” I announced.

And my family and friends did just what I thought they would: they laughed.

“Mel, that’s impossible. You’re crazy.” They said.

“Mel, I’m glad you have told me, but please don’t tell anyone else.” My father said.

“They will think you are crazy.”

The first big thing I needed was transportation to the capital city of Timor, which is Kupang.

Kupang is about 70 miles from my village of Soe.

If you ever come to Timor, you will understand why I was so concerned on this point.

Travel in my country is very hard. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you can ride on a government truck.

But most people have to walk over the jungle trails.

At that time, the Lord spoke to two sisters in Djakarta and told them that I needed help.

They were told to fly to Kupang, hire a jeep, go to Soe, and bring Mel Tari back to Djakarta.

“God, Mel had just returned to Soe, and now You mean that You want us to go and get him?” they protested.

(I had been a speaker at a missionary conference in Bandung).

The Lord told them to go anyhow, so they flew the 1,500 miles to Timor.

There they hired a jeep and came to Soe. They arrived at my home that night.

They came to me and said, “Mel, do you need passage to Djakarta?”

“Praise the Lord. Yes, I am ready to go.” I replied.

At this same time, I received a cable from America that said,

MONEY HAS BEEN PUT IN BANK AT KUPANG FOR YOU TO GO TO DJAKARTA.

ROUND TRIP TICKET TO AMERICA AT PAN AM TICKET COUNTER.

This cable came from a family I had never heard of.

The Lord had just spoken to them, saying, “Send money to Indonesia to bring Mel Tari here.”

They had never met me, but they obeyed the Lord and sent the money.

🔥THE MONEY CAME—BUT GOD SAID “DON’T GO!” | MEL TARI’S MIRACLE EXPERIENCES (PART 1)

According to Mel Tari,

"The devil almost got me to come one year too soon.

In 1969, a family in America sent a Telegram and money for my flight,

but the Lord said very clearly, “Don’t take it!”

I thanked them, but said, “I am sorry. This is not God’s time.”

“Mel, you are stupid.” My friends told me.

“If the money came in, it was from God, and you should have taken it.

Don’t you want to go?” Sure I want to go to America, but now isn’t God’s time!” I replied.

GOD SAYS “GO”
One year after that, the Lord said to me, “Now is the time to go!”

So I went to the fellowship for confirmation. “Will you pray for me?” I asked one of my sisters in the Lord.

“I must have God’s guidance for something very important.”

“What do you need to know?” she asked.

“I can’t tell you because you would think it over, and if you liked the idea,

you would say yes, and if you didn’t, you would say no.

I would have only your opinion and not God’s” I told her.

“I will pray, and while I do, you watch God’s television and tell me what happens.”

God had given many people in Indonesia the gift of visions.

We just go to tell and ask them to watch God’s television.”

He shows them future events just as though they are on a screen.

So I prayed and said, “God, You know I need Your guidance,

so please let my sister here know so she can tell me.

You have spoken to me, but I want You to confirm it through her.”

When I finished praying, I asked, “What did God show you?”

“It is pretty strange.” My sister replied.

“I SAW YOU STANDING AMONG MANY PEOPLE, BUT THEY ARE NOT LIKE US.

They have white skin. Many of them have yellow hair. Their eyes are different from ours.

Many of the men were over six feet tall. I also didn’t understand what you were saying.

You were speaking in a very strange-sounding tongue. I don’t know what country I saw.

But God told me to tell you that you are to do what He has told you to do,

and that you are to do it now, because it is His will.

MEL, WHAT IS ALL THIS? PLEASE EXPLAIN IT TO ME.”

I told her that the people she saw in the vision were Americans and that

we were speaking English, and that she should praise God with me because

through her He had confirmed that I was to go to the United States."

🔥THE BIOGRAPHY OF MEL TARI

EARLY LIFE

Mel Tari was born in 1946 on the Island of Timor, Indonesia, into a Christian family.

He grew up during a turbulent period in Indonesia's history, when political

instability, economic hardship, and religious tensions affected many parts of the nation.

As a young man, Mel was raised within the Protestant Christian tradition.

Although he had a religious background, his early Christian experience

lacked the vibrant spiritual power that would later characterize his ministry.

Mel Tari became internationally known through his involvement in

the remarkable Indonesian Revival of the 1960s, particularly on the Island of Timor.

The revival began around 1965, during one of the darkest periods in Indonesian history.

Following an attempted communist coup, the nation experienced

widespread violence, fear, and uncertainty.

In the midst of this national crisis, many Christians sought

God earnestly through prayer and repentance.

According to numerous accounts from participants, the Holy Spirit moved in extraordinary ways.

Churches that had once been spiritually cold became filled

with passionate worship, repentance, evangelism, and prayer.

Thousands of people professed faith in Jesus Christ, and many believers

reported experiencing spiritual gifts described in the New Testament.

HIS MINISTRY DURING THE REVIVAL

As a young evangelist, Mel Tari became one of the prominent witnesses of the Timor Revival.

He travelled extensively throughout villages and towns, preaching the

Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraging believers to trust God completely.

Mel consistently taught that Jesus Christ—not any human preacher—was the

source of every miracle and every genuine spiritual transformation.

REPORTS OF MIRACLES

The revival became known worldwide because of numerous testimonies of unusual supernatural events.

Among the reported occurrences were:

• Divine healings.

• Deliverance from demonic oppression.

• Miraculous provision of food and daily needs.

• Protection from danger.

• Words of knowledge.

• Extraordinary answers to prayer.
