JESUS BEFORE YOU!
MEMORISE
Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “It is as you say.” (Matthew 27:11).
READ:
Matthew 27: 11-14
[11]. Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “It is as you say.”
[12]. And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing.
[13]. Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?”
[14]. But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.
EXPOSITION
We often rush to judge others, even when we are guilty of similar wrongs. However, the Bible warns us, _Judge not that you be not judged_ (Matt 71). Just as Pilate had Jesus Christ in his courtroom awaiting trial, we also imagine Jesus before us, awaiting interrogation, our submission, justification, or condemnation. As Pilate's judgement was awaited by Jesus, He watches to see how we will respond to him. Will we set Jesus free from His accusers or contribute to His crucifixion?
Through our actions, lack of love, and disrespect for God's work, we condemn and crucify Jesus repeatedly. This is regrettable. Aren't we denying, betraying and crucifying Him with our Christian lives? Even today, we subject our Lord to malicious accusations and questioning through our questionable behaviour, even amidst a decaying world. Your submission, love, respect and kindness can rescue Jesus, so to say, from His malicious accusers. Let us not deny Him justice. He deserves better from us all (cf. CAC GHB 680).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank God for the work of salvation and the privilege to come before His throne of grace and mercy
2. Lord Jesus, I commit to being wholly Yours. I won't cooperate with Your enemies to crucify You again.
3. Jesus, grant every believer the grace to submit to Your Lordship, showing You pure love and kindness.
SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 503
L M
1. There's one above all earthly friend
Whose love all earthly love transcends,
It is my Lord and Christ divine,
My Lord because, I know He's mine.
I know He's mine, this friend so dear,
He lives with me He's ever near.
Ten thousand charms, around Him shine,
And, best of all, I know He's mine.
2. He's mine because He die for me
He saved my soul, He set me free,
With joy I worship at His shrine,
And cry, "Praise God," I know He's mine.
3. He's mine because He's in my heart,
And never, never will we part,
Just as the branch is to the vine,
I'm joined to Christ, I know He's mine.
4. Some day upon the street of gold
Mine eyes His glory shall behold
Then while His arms around me twine,
I'll cry for joy, "I know He's mine."
Amen
