🕊️ THE STORY OF APOSTLE JOHN AJAYI AGBONA
Born on April 21, 1920, in Ilawe-Ekiti, Apostle John Ajayi Agbona began life under difficult circumstances. He lost his father at a very young age and received no formal Western education. A serious leg wound he suffered as a child left him rejected by many until his encounter with Jesus Christ during the Pentecostal revival at Efon-Alaaye, where Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola prayed for him. His wound was healed, and this encounter marked the beginning of a transformed life and a deep commitment to the Christian faith.
In 1947, while working as a bricklayer in Ibadan, Agbona received what he described as a divine call to leave bricklaying and dedicate himself to “molding the human mind” for God. He began preaching and later founded Christ Apostolic Mission Church Oke-Igbala on December 13, 1952, with the support of Apostle Babalola. Through decades of evangelism, revival campaigns, education, and church planting, his ministry spread across Nigeria and beyond. Apostle Agbona died on August 7, 2001, at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy that continues through the church, its institutions, and generations influenced by his ministry.
