Acts of Kindness That Will Fill You with Purpose and Joy:-

Kindness has a kind of power that warms the heart and makes us feel alive. It gives us a sense of perspective and purpose that are completely unmatched by anything else.

Unfortunately, most of us have either never felt what it’s like to perform an act of kindness for another, or if we have, we don’t remember or realize it was the act of kindness which was the source of the feeling.

Fortunately, this powerful effect can be experienced even with the simplest acts of kindness. Here are five acts of kindness you can try today:

1. Pay it forward

Three years ago, on a Wednesday morning in St. Petersburg, Florida, a woman paid for an iced coffee in a Starbucks drive-thru. But she didn’t just pay for her own, she also paid for the caramel macchiato of the driver behind her. Who then did the same for the person behind them…

What happened next was nothing short of amazing.

That simple act of kindness performed by a single customer turned into an incredible eleven-hour chain of paying it forward. And before you think this is an isolated occurrence– it’s not. Events like this have happened in fast food lines, coffee shops and elsewhere all throughout the country. And this is a simple and easy act of kindness you can do throughout your day without asking anything in return of the other person, the best and most rewarding type of activity.

2. Listen to what someone else has to say

Some acts sound so simple but can be life-changing for the person on the receiving end. The simple but powerful act of listening is one such act.

Too often do we seek out our next chance to talk, too little do we search out others who need a patient listener. Listening has a sort of healing quality. It gives the speaker a safe place to pour out their emotions which can be extremely therapeutic.

And when someone listens to us, intentionally, without judgment? It makes us feel accepted, like we’ve found someone we can connect with on an emotional and spiritual level.

The next time you’re with someone who’s having a rough day, offer to listen and see not only how you’re able to help them but how good it feels for you to do so.

3. Volunteer with a local kids program

Kids are awesome. If you’ve never worked or interacted with young children through family, friends, or other before, you’re seriously missing out. They’re funny, creative, surprising, and all-around extremely entertaining.

But they’re something else: sweet and appreciative (if you catch them early enough, or get to know them well enough if they’re older, that is). And volunteering at a local kids program is an easy and highly fulfilling way to experience this.

You help them out by volunteering your time and energy and they give you a gift far more valuable: the sense of meaning you experience when you’ve truly touched another human being with kindness.

4. Solve someone’s problem

Problems come in sizes big and small. Sometimes, others experience problems that we, with either our time, money, skillset, or other resources, could help easily solve.

This could be a friend who needs help moving, a family member who could use your professional services, or a coworker looking for donations for a family member’s funeral. Whatever it is, you have an opportunity to perform a small act of kindness that is anything but small for the recipient involved.

These are opportunities to step outside of yourself and touch someone who is specifically in need. It’s not something you can actively go out in search for like the first three points on this list, but when the opportunity comes up, stepping up to help those in need can instill within you a deep sense of joy for making a difference in someone else’s life.

5. Do something for someone without them asking

If you want to help someone you know personally in a more proactive way, you can always try helping them before they even consider asking you. As opposed to someone who expresses a challenge beforehand, these are people who are close to you that deserve your love and attention and whom you’d just like to show your appreciation for.

Sometimes, a spontaneous act of kindness is the best kind. It’s important to practice kindness without wanting something in return. Sure, practicing kindness offers incredible gifts to us, but if we make it about ourselves, it’s no longer the pure act it once was.

However you choose to do so, set out to experience the power of kindness and how it affects others, as well as the sense of meaning and joy you get when placing the needs of others above your own. Kindness is one of the most powerful forces in existence. And something the world could use a whole lot more of right now.

When many of us think of evangelism, we imagine all those doors we’ve closed on people trying to tell us all about why their religion is the best. But in reality, we listen to evangelism every day. How else have companies like Apple convinced us that their product is the best?

When selling a product, a company must be enthusiastic and aggressive; if they don’t believe they’re the best, no one will. This is exactly how Christians live their lives. They make God attractive by the way they live. There is no greater sin than to stop evangelizing, to become silent about the best “product” we could ever offer—God!

A number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation books and burned them at a public bonfire. The value of their books was several million dollars. So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect. Acts 19:19-20 (NLT)

The way we sell or spread God is through inspiration. The disciples in Acts didn’t just spread the church they went to, but the word of God that transformed their lives. The result was a powerful change in other people. The thing that gets the world’s attention the most is when we change.

So why do we sometimes feel that we aren’t able to inspire anyone? If you’re not inspired about God on your own, you’re not going to inspire anyone else. Disciples in Acts were excited about what they were doing and had a heart for the people around them. Because of that, the word spread and evangelism was powerful.

Evangelize = Inspire

Yesterday, I learned four ways how to evangelize and become an inspiration.

Make God attractive
Make friends
Make time
Make a difference.

First, the only way to show others an inspiring God is to live an inspiring life. In Titus 2:10, Paul tells us that people view the God we believe in as attractive as the lives we live. So to make God attractive to others, our lives should be attractive as well. Secondly, when we make friends, we inspire unselfishness. Jesus was an expert at making friends. He not only cared about their lives, but was loyal and stayed people’s friend no matter what they put him through (John 15:13). When we love like that, we prove to them we care. When we make time for others, we inspire compassion.

In Mark 8:2, Jesus had compassion on the people around him, and sacrificed his time and effort to help them. To inspire and love others, we need to be doing things that are a sacrifice for us—whether that’s calling them, driving to meet them, or doing thoughtful things for them. Sacrifice inspires others. Lastly, making a difference inspires influence. In Acts 10, Peter ate with someone who was not a Jew—something never acceptable to do before. Because he decided to love and take a chance, he made a difference for the rest of the world.

How do you need to change your life to make God attractive?
Who do you need to be friends with and how can you make time for them?
What action can you take that may make a difference in other people’s lives?

Things Pastors Need to Consider When Navigating Their Future:

Through the years, I have been able to observe many things as I’ve watched pastors navigate through their future. I believe pastors and ministers need to consider these five things as they navigate through their future.

1. Know Your True Calling
Many leaders think they know their calling, but may not know what they’ve truly been called to. Their personal aspirations often times do not connect with their genuine calling of God.

Because a person likes to preach does not mean he is called to pastor a church. Preaching every now and then or to a certain segment of the church consistently is not the same as ministering the Word of God to a church weekly as the lead pastor-teacher.

Self-awareness of your true calling will keep you from a multitude of sins and preserve you from misery in ministry. Otherwise, you will operate in ministry by attempting to do what you are not really called to do. Blessing, joy, and anointing follow you when you are loyal to your genuine calling.

2. Fully Experience Where God is Moving
When God rains down His supernatural blessings on a ministry you are leading and experiencing, refuse to get caught up in thinking the blessings will follow you. If you believe this, you are taking responsibility for what is taking place rather than looking to the God of Heaven who has chosen to come upon your ministry in His merciful sovereignty. Wisdom says you should slow down and experience fully where God is moving. Do not take it for granted.

Die to yourself daily. Surrender to Him and enjoy what He is choosing to do through you and around you. Running to the next ministry because it is always what you have aspired to do may, in fact, be like running from God if it is not congruent with the will of the Lord.

3. Geography is Not Your Choice
Where God calls you is not up to you, but to God alone. Geography is not your choice. You need to take the Bible and a map; then pray for God to lead your life and ministry.

Too many pastors want to define their specifications by size of church, city, state, or salary. Pastor, until you are willing to go anywhere, God will not place you somewhere.

One more time, geography is not your choice, your wife’s, nor your extended family’s choice. Where you minister is God’s choice.

4. Be Willing to do Anything, Any Time, Anywhere, in God’s Time
Be willing to do whatever God wants you to do in your life in His timing, wherever it may be. It is better to live in the will of God than to live out of the will of God, even though you may have the opportunity to do something you have always aspired to.

Relating to God’s timing: it is never rushed. It does not create unrest or appear to be forced. It is right. It fits. People see it. It is God’s timing.

5. Live in Joyful Contentedness
It is rare to see a pastor who is operating his life and ministry in joyful contentedness. He is comfortable with His calling and tries to operate accordingly. His countenance conveys joy and his spirit demonstrates contentedness.

One of the most challenging things in ministry is balancing what others think you should do and where you should do it while you operate where you are with joyful contentedness. Their words may challenge you to wrestle through where you are, but they should never motivate you to seek something that may not be the will of the Lord for your life.

Therefore, as you navigate through your future, do it in a way that is more than pleasing to God. Aspire to live with joyful contentedness.

The little things matter to God. If you can take on the small tasks He gives you, how much more would He trust you in the big things? Be faithful in the little so you can be blessed with much.

11 Impressive Benefits Of Fasting
The health benefits of fasting include detoxification, faster healing, a boost in skin health, and secretion of growth and anti-aging hormones. It also positively affects the digestive system by boosting metabolism, lowering cholesterol levels, reducing appetite, weight, and obesity. It provides relief from epilepsy, arthritis, pancreatitis, cancer, and cardiovascular issues.

Fasting refers to refraining from either food, drink, or both at your own will for a definite span of time. It could be done partially for some particular food or as total abstention, in which no food or liquid is consumed for one or more days. Along with religious significance for some people, fasting is good for you because it offers a lot of health benefits if undertaken in a correct and a healthy manner.

Health Benefits Of Fasting

If conducted in a guided manner, fasting has the following benefits:

Detoxification

When no food is consumed by the body, the body turns to the fat deposits for energy, which releases chemicals from the fatty reserves and results in the eradication of these chemicals through the organs. It has been well favored by Ayurvedic therapy for cleansing and correcting the imbalances in the body.

Mental Health

After fasting, the blood is filled with better levels of endorphins, which makes you more alert and provides you with a feeling of good mental health. Studies have also provided evidence of healthy aging of the brain, which is attributed to calorie restriction and intermittent fasting. The effects of fasting are considered similar to that of exercise.

Effective Chemotherapy

Studies have demonstrated that a change in the levels of glucose due to fasting proves beneficial for the effectiveness of chemotherapy performed against tumors. Absolutely no calorie consumption for a defined period stimulates a lot of changes related to the protection of body cells, which is favorable for the patients suffering from cancer or undergoing tumor curing treatment.

Fasting

Combats Obesity

Fasting has been in use to combat obesity for a long time. A study has demonstrated positive results with respect to average weekly weight loss that occurred in the patients after fasting. It triggers the liver enzymes and breaks fat and cholesterol into essential bile acids, which stimulate the metabolism and convert the surplus fat into heat. It also helps you avoid overeating as it regulates the hunger hormone levels – ghrelin. Regular fasting has also shown to improve eating patterns over time.

Treats Epilepsy

Epilepsy refers to a brain disorder in which a person suffers from recurrent convulsions that can lead to a transformation in behavior. Fasting has been proven beneficial for patients suffering from epilepsy. Studies on this topic have shown positive results in terms of the frequency of seizures in such patients.

Cures Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic medical condition that causes inflammation of flexible joints, surrounding tissues, and organs. Under medical supervision, controlled fasting has shown significant results in the studies conducted. However, it has been recommended by medical professionals to proceed with a vegetarian diet thereafter.

Treats Pancreatitis

The pancreas plays an important role in producing digestive juices and releasing the hormones in the body, including insulin. When the pancreas becomes inflamed over a short span of time, it is known as pancreatitis. Along with intravenous feeding and fluid therapy, fasting has also been accepted as a treatment strategy for acute pancreatitis. Insulin regulation also prevents type-2 diabetes as the glucose levels are normalized.

Speeds Up Healing

Fasting also promotes the healing process in the body. When food is no longer present in the stomach, the body focuses on other vital functions like metabolic activity and the immune system, rather than digestion which is not necessary until the next meal. Research has shown significant development in the immune system of the intestines and overall health of the subject patients under medical supervision. Athletes are also encouraged to fast during training days, in order to shed excess fat and optimize muscle growth.

Skin Care

The mechanism of autophagy involves a synthesis and recycling of cellular components by degradation of unnecessary cells. It gets promoted during fasting. This leads to the production of healthier cells and tissues throughout the body, leading to healthier skin. It also aids in collagen production and acne treatment.

Releases Growth Hormones

Growth hormones stimulate growth and production of cells in the body. The production of such hormones also increases during fasting, resulting in the release of better growth and anti-aging hormones.

Protects Heart Health

Fasting influences the regulation of glucose and cardiovascular health. This has been demonstrated by various studies conducted in this regard, along with other health benefits including lowering blood pressure, body mass, triglycerides, and increasing insulin sensitivity and levels of HDL (good) cholesterol.

Pre or Post-operative Fasting

Doctors recommend short fasting, which is normally 2-8 hours, as groundwork for certain diagnostic investigations to obtain more accurate results. In case, the surgery involves the organs of the digestive system, fasting may be recommended before and after the surgery to ensure empty bowels. This helps to protect the lungs from getting any content from the stomach during anesthesia. Based on the studies that have been conducted in this regard, medical professionals recommend that consumption is limited to fluids such as water, clear fluids, and fruit juices before surgery.

Repair and Rejuvenation

The body gets an opportunity to repair itself as a result of a slower metabolic rate, better defense mechanisms, and protein production during fasting. This leads to improved mental well-being, clarity, improved blood circulation, and a feeling of rejuvenation. Scientists believe that all of these effects contribute to a slowdown in aging and an extended life expectancy.

Side Effects Of Fasting

Although fasting has been believed to be a natural and effective method of helping the body get rid of harmful toxins, it is also vital to be well aware of its possible side effects and hitches.

Dehydration

During fasting, the body continues losing salt and water through sweat, urine, and breathing. If the body isn’t hydrated before the fast, it may become dehydrated easily. If such symptoms occur, it is vital to drink water mixed with salt and sugar to compensate for the loss.

Headaches

Headaches while fasting could be caused due to hunger, restlessness, or the sudden absence of caffeine or ni****ne in the body. Drinking plenty of fluids, eating in moderation, and avoiding direct sunlight may help prevent headaches.

Hypoglycemia

Diabetics should be very cautious and should always discuss fasting with a medical professional before starting. They are strongly recommended to monitor their blood glucose since a drop in blood sugar can prove to be fatal and may lead to fainting. In case of dizziness or sweating, it is advisable to consume fluids containing sugar as soon as possible.

Heartburn

Heartburn can be caused as a result of the production of stomach acids, which otherwise aid in digestion. Avoiding greasy, spicy foods and eating in moderation can help control belching, vomiting, and heartburn. Reduction in caffeine consumption and smoking, as well as sleeping with your head raised can also prove beneficial.

Staying active, being hydrated and eating healthy foods (depending on the type of fast) rich in fiber helps keep constipation at bay during fasting. Other common side effects include fatigue, muscle cramps, dizziness, lightheadedness, chills, or cold due to the change in metabolism, along with an unpleasant odor as the body gets rid of harmful toxins through the skin and sweat. However, this is the body’s natural mechanism to cleanse and repair itself, while expelling any unhealthy cells. It is always advisable to discuss with a medical professional before considering fasting as a therapeutic option for any reason.
