*HOW LONG WILL YOU SLEEP OH SLUGGARD? (1)*
Prov.6.9
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Sleep is a natural, reversible, and periodic state of rest characterized by suspended consciousness, reduced metabolism, and relative immobility. It acts as a vital, active process for mental and physical restoration, energy conservation, and brain plasticity.
A sluggard is a person who is habitually lazy, inactive, or slow-moving.
It describes someone who avoids work, sleeps excessively, and is often used to describe someone wasting potential or time.
Everyone needs sleep to be able to function in life. A good night rest is beneficial for maintaining overall health. If you think this is not true - try going without sleep for a few days.
The Scripture teaches us that God desires us to work hard - as if we are working for Him. When it is time to work - God wants us to work.
He also made it clear to us from the Law that for six days we are to labor and do our work and on the seventh day, we are to rest. Exodus 20:8-11.
God calls us to work - and when we don't, we often find ourselves doing things that we will regret later. "Idle hands are the devil's workshop."
Notice to whom the proverb is addressed: the sluggard. The counsel is not aimed at an industrious person needing a good night rest; the target is the habitual sloth.
This means; when you choose to be lazy rather than work, you disobey the ordinance of God. That implies that being lazy is a sin.
You think when you are lazy, it only stops food on your table, NO.
It is an offence (SIN) to God.
