NIGERIA- Your Miracle Begins with a ‘Yes’
On the Sunday of the Paralytic, Metropolitan Nikodemus of the Archdiocese of Nigeria offered a profound reflection on the deeper meaning of healing presented in the Gospel. He emphasized that paralysis is not only a physical condition, but more importantly a spiritual reality that affects the soul when it loses hope.
Drawing from the message of the day, His Eminence noted that many people experience moments of abandonment, often expressing the painful sentiment, “I have no one.” Yet, he reminded the faithful that even in such moments, Christ is never absent. On the contrary, Christ is already present, standing before each person, ready to restore and renew.
Metropolitan Nikodemus highlighted that the beginning of healing requires a personal response. A simple yet sincere “yes” to Christ opens the way for transformation, allowing the grace of God to act in one’s life. It is through this willingness that the miracle of restoration begins.
Referencing the words of the Gospel, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk” (John 5:8), he underscored that this command is not only historical but remains a living call to every believer today—to rise from spiritual paralysis, to regain strength, and to walk forward in faith.
He concluded his message with the joyful proclamation of the Resurrection, affirming the enduring hope of the faithful: Christ is Risen.
