Today, the entire Church celebrate the solemnity of Christ, the universal king of king. Today, the Church presents Christ to the world as a king with difference. He was humble and compassionate towards his people.
Pilate asked Jesus in today’s gospel saying, “Are you the King of the Jew?” But Jesus answered him, “My Kingship is not of this world.” The kingship of Jesus is above and beyond this earthly glory. Jesus came to show us the way to the Father. He does not act like our earthly kings who are selfish and self-centered.
Jesus is the Universal King, who came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life for others. Saint Paul said: “Though he was in the form of God, he did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:6-8).
