DIVINE LIFE-GIVING DEVOTIONAL OF APOSTLE ATISELE UZOH - BREATHING LIFE INTO DESTINIES
AUGUST 14 - FRESH STRENGTH THROUGH HOPE IN GOD
Key Verse: Lamentations 3:24–25 (NKJV)
”‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him!’ The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”
Devotional Thought
Hope is one of the greatest sources of spiritual strength. It is the confident expectation that God will do exactly what He has promised. Biblical hope is not wishful thinking; it is unwavering confidence in the faithfulness of God. When hope is alive, strength is renewed. But when hope is lost, even the strongest person can become weary.
The prophet Jeremiah wrote the book of Lamentations during one of the darkest periods in Israel’s history. Jerusalem had been destroyed, the temple was in ruins, and the people had gone into captivity. Yet, in the middle of devastation, Jeremiah made a remarkable declaration: “The Lord is my portion… therefore I hope in Him.” His circumstances had not changed, but his confidence in God remained unshaken.
Your hope should never be anchored in your circumstances, your resources, or people. Those things can change. Your hope must be anchored in the unchanging character of God. He is faithful to His promises, unlimited in His power, and perfect in His timing. What He has spoken, He is able to perform.
Isaiah 40:31 teaches that those who wait upon the Lord receive fresh strength. Waiting is sustained by hope. Without hope, waiting becomes frustration. But with hope, waiting becomes joyful expectation. Hope gives you the courage to keep praying when answers seem delayed, to keep believing when the promise has not yet appeared, and to keep moving forward when the road seems long.
Abraham is a powerful example of this truth. The Bible says that “against hope, in hope he believed” (Romans 4:18). Though everything around him suggested that God’s promise was impossible, he refused to let go of hope. His confidence in God gave him the strength to endure until the promise was fulfilled.
As we continue in this prophetic month of “Fresh Strength to Spread and Soar,” guard your hope diligently. Do not allow disappointment, delay, or adversity to rob you of your expectation. The God who renewed Abraham’s strength, restored Job’s fortunes, and fulfilled His promises to Sarah is the same God working in your life today.
Lift your eyes above what you see. Hope in the Lord. Wait upon Him with confidence. Your strength will be renewed, your wings will spread, and you will soar into the fulfillment of His divine purpose.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my everlasting hope. When circumstances seem difficult, help me to keep my eyes fixed on You. Renew my hope, strengthen my faith, and fill my heart with joyful expectation. I receive fresh strength as I wait upon You, and I believe that every promise You have spoken concerning my life shall surely come to pass. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
