πΏ THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES (SUKKOT) πΏ
The Feast of Tabernacles, also called Sukkot in Hebrew, is the seventh and final feast of YHWHβs appointed times, celebrated in the seventh month (Tishrei), beginning on the fifteenth day (Leviticus 23:33-43). It is a season of joy, thanksgiving, and divine fellowship, marking the completion of the harvest and symbolizing YHWHβs enduring presence among His people.
During Sukkot, the children of Israel were commanded to dwell in booths (temporary shelters) to remember how YHWH made them dwell in tabernacles when He brought them out of Egypt. These booths represent the temporary nature of human life and the eternal protection found in YHWH alone.
π βYou shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am YHWH your Elohim.β β Leviticus 23:42-43
The Feast lasts seven days, followed by the Eighth Day (Shemini Atzeret) β a solemn assembly symbolizing eternal fellowship with YHWH. The first and eighth days are designated as Holy Convocations, days of rest and worship.
Spiritually, the Feast of Tabernacles foreshadows the Messianic Kingdom, when YHWH will dwell permanently among His people. It points to the fulfillment of the promise, βBehold, the Tabernacle of Elohim is with men, and He will dwell with them.β (Revelation 21:3)
It is also called the Season of Our Joy, for it celebrates the abundance of YHWHβs blessings, the completion of His redemptive work, and the hope of His eternal reign. The waving of palm, myrtle, willow, and citron branches during the festival expresses gratitude for His creation and covenant faithfulness.
Today, believers in YHWH observe Sukkot as a time of:
β
Thanksgiving for His provision and protection
β
Reflection on our spiritual journey and dependence on Him
β
Rejoicing in His presence through worship and fellowship
β
Anticipation of the coming Kingdom when He will tabernacle with humanity forever
πΎ βAnd you shall rejoice before YHWH your Elohim seven days.β β Leviticus 23:40 πΎ
Sukkot reminds us that our true dwelling is not in earthly structures, but in the presence of the Most High, who covers, shelters, and renews His people with everlasting joy.
