*The Holy Spirit, Our Guide*

*Text* : John 16:12-15

Beloved, All of God’s children are on a journey. And as we travel through life toward our eternal home, we will face many choices. People in the road will challenge and frustrate us. In such circumstances, how can we know which way to go?

Jesus promised to give us an internal and ever-present Guide (John 14:16). Starting at the moment of salvation, everyone who trusts in the Savior is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, who promises to lead believers into all the truth (16:13). We’ve no reason to fear, because He will direct us. However, while the Spirit’s leadership is always right, at times our reception isn’t clear. If that happens and we’re tempted to tolerate sin in one area, we shouldn’t expect to receive His guidance in another.

Sin does to our understanding of the Lord’s clear direction what a magnet does to the needle of a compass. It misleads us, pulling us away from the clear path God has planned, just as the magnetic field draws the needle away from true north.

When a decision is unclear, ask yourself questions like, Will Christ be glorified in this? or Will this draw me closer to the Lord? If the answer is no, then don’t follow that path, because the Holy Spirit is not guiding you there. His leading always aligns with Scripture and accomplishes God’s perfect plan.

*Prayer* : Dear heavenly Father, any decision that I am going to take today that will not bring glory or draw me close to you, please removed it from my life in Jesus name I pray Amen.

*The Pattern for Servanthood*

*Text* : Matthew 20:25-28

Beloved, we often think of great people as the ones with authority, prominence, and power. Though Jesus had all that, He laid it aside to become a servant (Isaiah 42:1).

Jesus gave Himself completely to fulfill the Father’s plan of redemption, even though the beneficiaries—each of us—were undeserving. God, who is holy and righteous, has “eyes ... too pure to approve evil, and [He] can not look on wickedness with favor” (Habakkuk 1:13). Yet all of humanity is marked by wrongdoing (Romans 3:23).

Jesus’ ultimate act of service was to give His life to rescue us (Matt. 20:28). He made it possible for all of us to be free and to experience the joy that comes with being united to God in love, which was the Father’s intention from the moment we were created by His loving hands.

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we receive the gift of grace. We are now sons and daughters of the Almighty! He served the Father’s purpose faithfully. He gave up His righteousness to carry the weight of all our failures and endured pain and disgrace to bring us salvation. To meet our needs, the Savior held nothing of Himself back and thereby set a powerful example of servanthood for us to follow.

*Prayer* : Dear heavenly Father, help me to follow the pattern of your servanthood in my life, in Jesus' name I pray Amen.

*The Christian Life—What Is It?*

*Text* : Titus 3:4-7

Beloved, the Christian life is just that—a life, not simply a set of rules. Sadly, some believers see our faith only as a list of dos and don’ts. They reduce it to a kind of cold mathematical formula: Jesus’ saving grace plus good deeds minus bad deeds equals righteousness.

But this runs counter to Scripture. Jesus not only condemned the Pharisees’ heavy-handed religion; He also offered liberty through grace (Matthew 23:1-4; John 8:36). Neither keeping God’s law by self-effort nor adhering to extra rules makes us free.

By accepting the saving grace of Jesus, a person receives a new life and is utterly changed. (See Romans 6:4.) The mind and heart are transformed, and Christ lives through the new believer. God’s Holy Spirit flows into him or her just as sap runs in a vine. Then strength fills places where weakness once prevailed.

It’s important to realize that only works done through the Holy Spirit have lasting spiritual value. So why rely on ourselves when He will supply the courage and power to accomplish kingdom goals? Besides, trying to do good in our own strength might be well-intentioned but can lead to extreme burnout. Instead of relying on yourself, surrender to the Lord. Jesus is your life. Depend upon Him to change you from the inside out, and trust that He will.

*Prayer* : Father , help me to rely on you so that everything I do will be for your glory and acceptable to you in Jesus' name. I pray, Amen.
