𝐀 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐬 “𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞” 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫?
The proclivities of the human heart are a mystery to those who do not understand human nature. It is therefore easy to attribute the longings, the passions, the “𝙨𝙬𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨” the "𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨” and the blushing sounds of that pumping machine to the magical effect of cupid's arrows.
We romanticize the idea of love and sometimes excuse the madness and harm done in its name just because the "𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨."
We assume that as long as we feel it, then it must be real, or perhaps divine. When we feel something is divine, to us it implies that we do not have a hand in it per se and consequently, do not have control over how we act or feel. That means we cannot be blamed for our emotions and actions. As a result, we depend on feelings to determine if love is present or worth it. We value spontaneity over conscious consistency and magical occurrences over the art of building.
What we fail to realize is that certain unconscious considerations give rise to passion, longings and unrealistic desires. Most of these unconscious considerations are preferences developed in the early years of our lives plus the ones we acquire on the go as we give our minds to popular culture for moulding.
These mistakes and loopholes in our ideological framework give rise to ridiculous love affairs and the consequences are disturbing. It is expedient that we make ourselves keen students of human nature so that we can better understand the things that influence our decisions and develop the right strategies to tackle the challenges that come with human relationships.
Marriages, whether between humans or between protectorates, if not managed well, can lead to disasters that we may not recover from. For those who are yet to marry, there is still time and the will to prepare yourself for it. For those already married, there is nothing a peaceful negotiation and compromise cannot solve.
Do not leave the outcome of your life or relationships to fate, emotions or the whim of mischievous gods like cupid. The power is in your hands.
Know what you must know and navigate your ship towards the shores of peace. Do not enthrone a lover or leader in your life that has no value for human life; whose disposition speaks of cosmic indifference. Enthrone a conscious lover, an empathetic leader over your life and watch him/her bring value out of chaos.

25th February is the real lover’s day. We shall see how much love we have for Nigeria.
