*TUESDAY MAY 26TH, 2026*

*Beloved Let Us Pray:* Morning, noon and night, I will worship You. The purpose for my life is to worship You. I will worship You, forever, in spirit and in truth, I will worship You. When all is said and done, I'll still worship You. Before your judgement throne, I will worship You. Rev 12:16 says, "And the 24 elders who were seated on their thrones before Yahweh fell on their faces and worshipped Him saying, "We give You thanks Jehovah Elohim, the one who is and who was; because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign." Every day I will lift my voice to You, O Most High, I will exalt Your name, I will bow my knees, I will praise You and I will worship forever and ever more." People of God, praise Him for His holiness, His wisdom, and His grace. Sing praises for His precious blood with which He ransomed all our race. In tenderness He sought us; from depths of sin He brought us; the way of life then taught us. We worship and give You thanks, our Emmanuel.

*Prayer Focus for Today:* I will sing to the LORD as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! May all my thoughts be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the LORD. May all the workers of iniquities vanish from the face of the earth; may the wicked disappear forever. Let all that I am praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!

GLADNESS IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD

Memory Verse: "I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the LORD. Psalm 122:1, NIV

Text: Psalm 122

Psalms 122:1-8 NIV
[1] I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”

[2] Our feet are standing in your gates, Jerusalem.

[3] Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together.

[4] That is where the tribes go up— the tribes of the Lord— to praise the name of the Lord according to the statute given to Israel.

[5] There stand the thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David.

[6] Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.

[7] May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.” [8] For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”

Saint Augustine wrote, "In the house of God, there is a never-ending festival; the angel choir makes an eternal holiday; the presence of God's face gives joy that never fails."

Psalm 122 is one of the fifteen songs of ascent, also called the pilgrim song. These songs are usually sung by Jews when they are traveling to the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem was the place where the temple was built, and many Jews visited the city annually for the Jewish festival. This psalm begins with gladness for an invitation to God's house but is composed as a prayer for Jerusalem. The prayer focuses on the peace and prosperity of Jerusalem.

God is omnipresent, but His presence is manifested in the midst of His people. When two or more people are gathered for prayer, worship, and fellowship around God's Word, the presence of God is there. In God's presence, there is fullness of joy.

Like the psalmist, we should be glad when we go to worship God in His house. As you pray, praise, and worship God in the beauty of His holiness, your burdens will be lifted and hard-pressed issues of life will melt away.

So, learn to rejoice in the presence of the LORD. Let your sorrowful heart become joyful in His presence.

Insight: The presence of God in His house should make you glad to meet there.

Prayer: Dear LORD, I key into the joy and gladness in Your presence always.

A poster with two pictures has a man in rags on the right, sitting on the sidewalk with a cup in his hand and on the left is another man in rags sitting on the sidewalk with a cup in his hand, with a caption, "One failed to prepare; the other prepared to fail." The outcome was the same. Those who do not prepare to succeed are preparing to fail. In life, preparation makes the difference between success and failure.

The psalmist expressed profound joy at the invitation to the house of the LORD. He is happy to nurture relationships and celebrate love in unity of worship that fosters fellowship with God and with one another. He emphasises the importance of assembling in worship in God's presence.

Worship is not merely an individual act but a collective experience that reinforces our unity as a community of believers. The house of the LORD symbolises safety, peace and shared purpose, reminding us that our faith thrives in fellowship. The house of God is a place where worship is core and joy is from God.

Like the psalmist, prioritise gathering with fellow believers by embracing the joy of worship as a shared experience rather than a solitary one. Attend church services and participate in community events that foster spiritual growth and connection. As you fellowship with others, you cultivate an atmosphere of gladness and support.

Through worshipping together, you deepen your relationship with God and strengthen the bond that unites us as His people.

*Wisdom:* Unity in worship unlocks joy, harmony, and God's presence, reflecting heaven's beauty on earth.

*Food for Thought:* What role does corporate worship play in your life?

TOPIC: STRENGTH IS NOT ENOUGH 2

MEMORISE
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. - (Psalm 84:4)

READ: Isaiah 40:28-31 (KJV)

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

MESSAGE

Yesterday, we saw how Peter fell into temptation because he couldn't keep watch in prayer (Matthew 26:40-43). Prayerlessness is one of the signs that a believer is relying on his or her own strength. Unlike Peter, however, David kept watch day and night in the place of prayer (Psalm 55:17). He often stayed awake at night, spending time with God and meditating on His word (Psalm 63:6, Psalm 119:148). He was so aware of the limitations of his strength that on many occasions in the Bible, he enquired of the LORD to know what He wanted him to do (1 Samuel 23:1-5, 1 Samuel 30:8-9). However, in (2 Samuel 11?), where he obviously didn't enquire of the LORD but rather gave in to lust, he got into a predicament that negatively impacted his lineage (2 Samuel 12:9-12).

Daniel also knew the importance of prayer. He knew how much he needed God in the strange land of Babylon, and the Bible tells us that he prayed thrice daily (Daniel 6:10). Even when a decree was made that nobody should pray to anyone except the king, he was too aware of the limitations of his strength that his first reaction was to open his windows and pray as usual. His response to everything was prayer.

Prayer is so important that the Bible urges us to pray without ceasing (1Thessalonians 5:17). The moment you don't feel like praying or see the need to pray is actually the time to pray more intently because prayerlessness can leave a believer in a weak state and cause such a believer to lose his or her spiritual vitality. Once the devil douses a believer's spiritual fire, he can ruin him or her. Praying puts us in a posture of humility before God, where we acknowledge that we cannot do anything without Him. It keeps our hearts tender and reminds us of the limitations of our physical strength. When we cultivate a lifestyle of waiting on God in prayer, we renew our strength daily (Isaiah 40:31) and are able to overcome the devil's temptations (Matthew 26:41).

Beloved, how do you respond to life's challenges? Do you always try to solve them with your wisdom and strength first? Do you only run to God when everything you've tried fails? Do not make God a spare wheel in your life, rather, He should always be your first resort. Cultivate the habit of praying without ceasing, and you will live victoriously all the days of your life, in Jesus' name.

KEY POINT
When you cultivate a lifestyle of prayer, you will tap into the LORD'S strength daily.

LET US SING TO THE LORD

Memory Verse: "Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation." Psalm 95:1, NIV

Text: Psalm 95

Psalms 95:1-11 NIV
[1] Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

[2] Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

[3] For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.

[4] In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.

[5] The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

[6] Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

[7] for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice,

[8] “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness,

[9] where your ancestors tested me; they tried me, though they had seen what I did.

[10] For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.’

[11] So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”

In the midst of a bustling street with traffic noise, a man heard a sweet voice singing melodiously. He could not ignore the sound. On finding the singer, he was surprised to discover he had no legs. The man told the singer, "Hearing your sweet voice even in this condition has reminded me that I have much to be grateful for." The man replied, "When I stopped thinking about what I had lost and began concentrating on all I had left, I found much reason to rejoice."

The psalmist enjoins us to sing to the LORD. He highlights how and why we should sing to the LORD. We are to sing joyfully with thanksgiving, music, shouting, and adoration. We are to sing to the LORD because of His greatness, creative ingenuity, kingship, and fatherly love. God deserves our praise always. We must engage in singing to our God in all circumstances.

We are called to sing to the LORD in a clear understanding of His might and majesty, and not from emotions. As you sing, let your focus be on the LORD who is the object and subject of your songs. Freely express your heartfelt gratitude to Him after deep reflection on His greatness, goodness, and care. Sing aloud to proclaim the name of the LORD.

Insight: Singing is one of the simplest forms of worship.

Prayer: Father, fill my heart with songs that honour and glorify You.

D. A. Carson said, "Worship is the proper response of all moral, sentient beings to God, ascribing all honour and worth to their Creator-God precisely because he is worthy, delightfully so." Worship is not just a ritual, but it is a reflection of our relationship with God.

King David in today's text highlighted the importance of genuine worship. The psalmist invites us to join in a joyful expression of praise. This call is divided into two parts; the first is a call to sing, shout, and bow before the LORD, acknowledging His majesty, creation, and redemption.

The second part serves as a warning, cautioning against the hardening of hearts and rebellion, referencing Israel's wilderness experience.

Worship sets us apart from the context of our immediate environment; it places us in another realm in alignment with God if properly done. Therefore, you should engage wholeheartedly in worship, expressing gratitude and adoration.

By joining others in united worship, you strengthen fellowship and unity, declaring God's worthiness to the world.

Apply this truth by cultivating a lifestyle of genuine worship, honouring God in every aspect of your life, and fostering meaningful relationships with fellow believers through shared worship experiences.

*Wisdom:* God delights in the worship of His children.

*Food for Thought:* Are you a genuine worshipper of God?

*Follow-up Action:* Worship God with some new songs today.

*Prayer:* LORD God, I worship You for who You are to me and my family. May Your name forever be praised.

*Prayer:* LORD, may I not deny myself from enjoying the privileges I have in You.

THEME: STRENGTH IS NOT ENOUGH I

MEMORISE: Thus, saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and wh ose heart departeth from the LORD. Jeremiah 17:5

READ: Matthew 26:31-35, 74-75
31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the c**k crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

Matthew 26:74-75

74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the c**k crew.

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the c**k crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

MESSAGE
In Luke 5:1-10, Peter did not fail because he wasn't diligent, hardworking, or skillful. He had those characteristics, yet he failed. However, when help came from God, he succeeded. Your strength, skills, connections, and diligence are good, but if the LORD is not supporting you, they cannot make you successful.

Psalm 127:1 says:
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Except the LORD guides and directs a fellow in his or her decisions, his or her labour will be in vain. Without God's support, a person will look like a fool who doesn't know how to get to the city (Ecclesiastes 10:15). Some young people try to do many things because they think they have the strength to do them. However, the Bible makes us understand that although the glory of the youth is their strength (Proverbs 20:29), they will faint and be weary and utterly fall (Isaiah 40:30). This means that while the strength of the youths can help them achieve some things, it is not enough. It can fail them at some point, but if they wait on the Almighty God, they will be able to soar like eagles.

In today's Bible reading, Peter felt he was strong enough to withstand temptations, yet he failed. His physical strength was not sufficient to sustain him in the day of adversity. His overconfidence in himself showed when he was sleeping instead of praying (Matthew 26:40-43).

Believers who rely on their strength in the face of temptation will fail. Many have fallen because they felt they were too prayerful to fall into sin. They believed they were too wise and strong to fall into temptation, but eventually, they let their guard down.

1 Corinthians 10:12 warns us never to think that we can stand without God's help. People who think in such a manner eventually fall. Today's memory verse tells us that a person who puts his confidence in flesh is cursed. Samson didn't fall the day Delilah called a man to cut off his hair; rather, he started falling the moment he began to trust in his strength. The day a person stops trusting in God is the day his or her downfall begins.

I pray that you will never come to a point where you feel you are strong enough to do without God, in Jesus' name.

KEY POINT
Put all your trust in God alone.

THE LORD OF THE SABBATH

Memory Verse: "Then he said to them. "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." Mark 2:27-28, NIV

Text: Mark 2:23-28

Mark 2:23-28 NIV
[23] One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain.

[24] The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

[25] He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?

[26] In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”

[27] Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

[28] So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

____________________________
Sabbath means to rest from labour. It is also a day to be spent in worship and reverence to God. In the Mosaic Law, strict regulations were laid down regarding its observance. It was observed from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday, during which no work or creative labour was done. However, the Early Church changed the Sabbath to Sunday in commemoration of the resurrection of Christ, by whom the work of redemption was completed.

Jesus' disciples picked grain as they were passing through a field on the Sabbath to feed their hungry stomachs. This action offended the Pharisees, who strictly observed the Sabbath law. While defending His disciples, Jesus reminded the Pharisees that King David ate the bread reserved for priests when he was hungry. Jesus also told them that He is the LORD of the Sabbath and the Sabbath was made for man, not the other way round.

Sabbath's law against work was to ensure people rested on the Sabbath, not to let people starve. Therefore, Jesus was just letting His disciples get food on the Sabbath.

The LORD of the Sabbath has authority in heaven and on earth to do what is just and right. When we submit to Jesus' authority and obey His instructions, we can never offend the law, as our lifestyle has already fulfilled the intention of the law.

[18] Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, “How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?”

[19] Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them.

[20] But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.

[21] “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse.

[22] And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”

28.So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”Mark 2:27-28, NIV.

_______

The Sabbath is often viewed in different and conflicting ways among people. For some, the Sabbath is a set of rules meant to restrict them from having fun. For others, it becomes an excuse for self-indulgence, living without regard for God or His purpose. However, Sabbath is neither a burden nor a licence for selfish living, but a gracious invitation to rest in God.

In today's passage, Jesus' critics questioned His disciples concerning fasting. Jesus responded by stating that His disciples are to rejoice. Explaining further, Jesus used a parable of an unshrunk patch to illustrate the fact that He came to completely transform the lives of His followers – not merely patch up their old lives.

When the Pharisees queried Jesus on why His disciples were picking a handful of grain to satisfy their hunger on a Sabbath day, Jesus emphasised that the Sabbath was not meant to restrict necessities; that meeting true human needs and compassion takes precedence over custom, ritual, ceremony and tradition. Jesus declared Himself "LORD of the Sabbath," thus freeing His disciples from legalism and affirming His authority.

By redefining Sabbath rest, Jesus shifts focus from ritual observance to a relationalu connection with God. As Christians, let us embrace Jesus' teachings on rest, recognising Sabbath rest as a gift. You are to balance work and leisure. Prioritise self-care, embracing flexibility in your schedules.

Use rest to refocus on God's presence, especially on Sundays. Jesus' lordship frees us from guilt and legalism, allowing us to delight in rest. You will experience renewal, rejuvenation, and a deeper connection with God by embracing this.

This teaching, if adhered to, will transform your understanding of rest, empowering you to live life fully.

*Wisdom:* Truth is always constant.

*Food for Thought:* In what areas of your life do you raise Sabbath tradition above God's Word?

*Follow-up Action:* Identify some Sabbath traditions in your life that you have raised above God's Word.

*Prayer:* O LORD, deliver me from every tradition of men about the Sabbath that cripples the move of the Holy Spirit in my life.
