THEME: TIME FOR REVIVAL AND RESTORATION

GENERAL INTRODUCTION
Our theme for October is Supernatural Turnaround, It is an act of Divine Grace when God mercifully turn to a person or people and gloriously turn around their circumstances. However, such turnaround or restoration is usually accompanied or preceded by spiritual revival, where and when a people become conscious of their wrong or evil way and return to God in sincere repentance. That in essence, is the message and prophecy of Joel. This is our reference book of study and we will study under the theme: Time for Revival and Restoration.
Revival is an awakening, a renewal or restoration. It has various dimensions – there can be personal, Church or National Revival, etc.
We will examine topics such as

The Benefits of Revival and Restoration
The Believer’s Role in Revival
TOPIC 1: THE BASIS OF REVIVAL AND RESTORATION
TEXT: JOEL CHAPTER 1, PSALM 85:4-9

INTRODUCTION
The Psalmist prayed passionately for Revival and Restoration. We must also pray, but there is need to understand the why and when we need Revival.
POINT:
WE NEED REVIVAL AND RESTORATION
When people’s present experiences and circumstances become worse than the past. Joel 1:2-3
When enemies begin to kill destroy and devour. (v. 4) Note the destruction in our land.
When there are consistent attacks and opposition against the Nation and her Resources. (vv. 5-7)
Check our Nation and observe these going on in the Nation, East and South.
When family and homes are under intense pressure and serious attack (v. 8)
See how democracy and freedom is turning family value upside down in civilized society.
When God’s servant and people suffer undue depression. Prayers, Study of the word and service becomes a drudgery and burden (v. 9)
When the joy of Harvest is cut off and people get little for their labour (vv. 10, 17-18)
When expectations are cut short/off and purposes are disappointed. Vv. 11-12
CONCLUSION
All this call for serious concern, prayer and rededication in the part of God’s people – Priests, Pastors and People – for Revival or Renewal and Restoration by the mercies of God. Vv. 13-16, 19-20.
