📖 SERMON
Title: From Wandering to Wonder
Sub-topic: Mercy Unto Others
Preacher: Brother Dirisu Marvellous
Text: Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 12:17–29
Definition
Mercy is any action taken or motivated by compassion.
Compassion is the foundation and basis for mercy.
How to Receive Mercy
1. Brokenness
Mercy begins with acknowledging your limitations, weaknesses, and inadequacies before the throne of grace.
A broken and humble heart positions a believer to receive help from God.
2. Forgiveness
Believers must forgive others of their trespasses.
Genuine forgiveness flows from a repentant and surrendered heart.
3. Discern the Purpose Behind Challenges
Learn to understand the purpose behind every challenge and trust God through difficult seasons.
Be thankful and allow God’s consuming fire to refine and purge you (Hebrews 12:27).
Avoid murmuring and complaining when faced with trials and difficulties.
4. Be Merciful Unto Others
Showing mercy to others creates a hedge of divine covering around your life (Job 29:11–16, Job 1:10).
Compassion toward others attracts divine preservation and favour.
Highlights
Human nature is naturally self-centered and wicked, but God’s nature is compassionate and seeks repentance rather than destruction.
Forgiveness is incomplete without brokenness and true repentance.
Mercy cannot be earned by works, and no human being is entitled to it.
Until a person recognizes their inadequacy and dependence on God, they cannot truly receive mercy.
A person may have God’s backing yet still lack mercy.
Without admittance, there can be no repentance.
True peace is not dependent on material possessions or earthly comfort.
The devil’s mission is to steal, kill, and destroy, not to show compassion.
The enemy seeks to twist and pervert the Word of God through deception.
Mercy is God’s divine advantage given to humanity.
Hearing the Word is important, but understanding and applying it is what brings transformation.
Your reaction to situations and challenges determines your level of victory.
