SUPPLICATION FOR THE LAST WEDNESDAY OF SAFAR
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
The LAST Wednesday of Safar is the time when some generations in the past were destroyed for their sinful acts, e.g. the ‘Ad and the Thamud people, whom Prophets Hud (A.S.) and Salih (A.S.) were sent to respectively.
It is also said that it’s the day when calamities descend to the Earth.
1. FOUR RAKAʿAT OF NAFILAH
Observe four (4) rakaʿat of Nafila with one (1) Salām.
In each rakaʿat recite:
Fātiḥatul Kitāb — 1 time
Sūratul Kawthar — 17 times
Sūratul Ikhlāṣ — 5 times
Sūratul Falaq — 1 time
Sūratun-Nās — 1 time
2. AFTER SALĀM
Recite:
وَاللهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰ أَمْرِهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Wallāhu Ghālibun ʿalā Amrihī wa Lākinnah Aktharan-Nāsi Lā Yaʿlamūn
360 times
3. JAWHARATUL KAMĀL
Recite Jawharatul Kamāl — 3 times, or any Ṣalāt upon the Prophet (SAW).
Then conclude with:
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Once.
4. DUʿĀ
Then ask the Almighty Allah to protect you, the members of your family, and the Muslim Community from evils and all calamities.
5. SADAQAH
Give out Ṣadaqah.
6. EIGHT QUR’ĀNIC VERSES BEGINNING WITH “SALĀM”
The following eight verses of the Qur’an that started with “Salām” can be written and given to children and those who cannot do the Nafila to drink on that day.
① سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ
Salāmun ʿalā Nūḥin fil-ʿālamīn
Sūrat Aṣ-Ṣāffāt 79
② سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَى الدَّارِ
Salāmun ʿalaykum bimā ṣabartum, faniʿma ʿuqbad-dār
Sūrat Ar-Raʿd 24
③ سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
Salāmun ʿalā Ibrāhīm
Sūrat Aṣ-Ṣāffāt 109
④ سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ
Salāmun ʿalā Mūsā wa Hārūn
Sūrat Aṣ-Ṣāffāt 120
⑤ سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِلْ يَاسِينَ
Salāmun ʿalā Ilyāsīn
Sūrat Aṣ-Ṣāffāt 130
⑥ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ طِبْتُمْ فَادْخُلُوهَا خَالِدِينَ
Salāmun ʿalaykum ṭibtum fadkhulūhā khālidīn
Sūrat Az-Zumar 73
⑦ سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِنْ رَبٍّ رَحِيمٍ
Salāmun qawlan mir-rabbin raḥīm
Sūrat Yā-Sīn 58
⑧ سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ
Salāmun hiya ḥattā maṭlaʿil-fajr
Sūrat Al-Qadr 5
جَزَاكُمُ اللهُ خَيْرًا’
