Theme: UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF GOD (Part 1)
Text: John 1:12
Memory Verse: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

MESSAGE:
Matthew 28:18 says, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Oh Halleluyah! And we are now joint-heirs with Christ and that implies that we who are in Christ Jesus have also received all power. “ALL POWER” not some power. Halleluyah! Child of God! The spirit of God in you gives you power and that power is first and foremost to be a son of God as seen in John 1:12 and this power is gotten through divine revelation from God’s word.

It was divine revelation that made the discussion between Jesus and one of the political leaders to have this kind of ending even at the risk of death: “Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above:” Oh Halleluyah! And the understanding Jesus had is same understanding that Apostle Paul was referring to in 2 Timothy 1:7 when he said, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Oh, Amen.

Thus the spirit of God which is Christ in us the hope of glory is also the spirit of God’s power in us. So when one receives the Holy Spirit, the person is not just saved but you now have power given to you and thus in Luke 10:19 Jesus says, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” So beyond being saved, the power of God also gives you dominion over challenges that faces us; be it spiritual or physical. It is time to put the power of God in you to good use.

A kinsman redeemer was needed to save us. That’s why no one was found worthy to take the seals to open it and John cried because mankind was finished without a redeemer. All of a sudden, he heard a voice saying fear not for the Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed to open it. When John looked he saw a slain lamb in the midst of the throne. Now, on the throne of God is it not God who is supposed to sit there? But John saw a lamb on it. The same place that God was, a lamb appeared and took the book from His hands. Can’t you see that it was the same God transforming Himself into a lamb (i.e. Jesus) to break the seals for us? Jesus gave away the secret when He said in Matthew 23:37

The Blood of God

No other blood could have saved humanity. No not one. All have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of the Lord. Have you ever heard someone said that angels are sinless? People say that, but it’s not biblical. Yes angels are holy but not sinless. Bible says in Job 4:18: "Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly" Satan was once a holy angel of God but sinned and took one third of the angels with him. They are not sinless. And yet perhaps an angel may be found worthy but still could not have saved us because they are not humans.

A false christ is a false anointed, because Christ is the Anointed. How many knows that the "Christ" means "the anointed One"? There will be false anointed ones, and they'll call themselves prophets. But how will you recognize them? By the Word; that's how you'll know it: by the Word, whether they are right. How will we recognize them? Will be by the Word. If they say that they have the Word, and then deny the Word, then there's nothing to it, no matter what they do. They might heal the sick; they might open the eyes of the blind; and deny the Word, stay away from it. Don't care what it is, stay with that Word regardless because many times I've seen voodoo and all kinds of things take place under healing.

I said, "Rabbi, your own law said that a man can pass through a cornfield and eat what he wants to; but he can't take out any in a bag." He didn't even know that, being a rabbi. He can't take any out, but I said, "He didn't steal." You know, that rabbi stood there for a few minutes. And I said, "Rabbi, don't you believe that He was that?"

He said, "Look, sir, if I preached that, I'd be down there in the street begging." I said, "I'd rather be down there begging and drinking branch water, than eating chicken three times a day, and my name in gold on this temple here, and know I was in error. I'd rather he truthful."

And he started to cry. And he turned around, and he said, "I'll see you later." I said, "You're not honest with me, rabbi."

He said, "I believe if them temple priests would have listened to Him, we'd been better off today."
