Christians Are Not Perfect People.
A born again christain was caught in the web of fornication with his father's wife.
One would expect that when a person says he is born again, he should automatically start to act right–by the virtue of the holy spirit in him.
Such news would make you baffled.
Like how can you claim to be saved and you're gallantly walking in the flesh.
Even those who don't know what it takes to be a true christian will join the charlatans to pull the 'And-you-call-yourself-a-christain' card when a christian errs.
Christians are not perfect people. And if there's anyone to understand this better, it should be christians.
But christians are the very ones doing the most slandering and dragging each other.
If the Holy Spirit comes with an automatic installation of perfection, then there won't be a need for the five fold ministry.
Infact Paul wouldn't have instructed believers to be perfect.
Jesus knew that the saints, even though washed with his blood and full of the spirit are not perfect people.
Hence, he gave gifts unto men in Ephesians 4:11 for the PERFECTING of the saints..... Till we become a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
Many are not there yet. Many haven't attained that full stature of Christ which is perfection.
But does that makes them less of christian? No.
Paul knew this, hence the plenty instructions he gave to the church:
1. Walk in love: because fellow christians like you will offend you. But love covers a multitude of offense.
2. Be ye perfect as your heavenly father is: meaning the efforts unto perfection has been worked in you by God to be worked out by you.
3. Know the scriptures which is given for instructions, doctrine etc.... That the man of God may be perfect.
All these and more has been said to help the christian attain perfection.
Today, it's so sad that we hear in the news, report of Christians especially those in ministry falling into despicable errors.
But you know what's more sad?
It's the fellow christians that join the unbelievers to drag them.
It's funny and sad at the same time that a person who is disobedient to instructions and arrogant is dragging someone who is fornicating. Asif they're not in the same web.
There's a very huge difference between correction and dragging. No thin line.
If you truly understand why the bible say you shouldn't judge, you'd be humble.
Those of you saying "It can never be me", I laugh!
Few years ago, something happened and I was like God forbid. I will never ever do that. LoL!
Ladies and gentlemen, I did it two months after and even justified my actions ontop.
Thank God for God and spiritual company, they were my saving grace. Till now, that experience has humbled me.
I don't even have the strength to judge or analyse anyone's misdeeds cause I've been there and I know how it feels.
Again, there's a huge difference between calling out, dragging, judging, defaming and correction.
The most problematic church in the new testament was the church in Corinthians. They had so many issues that Paul had to write 2 long letters addressing them.
It was there a born again, tongue speaking brethren was fornicating with his father's wife, people were stealing, they were dragging each other to court, they were disorganized with their speaking in tongues etc.
Yet when Paul addressing them didn't say; I'm very disappointed in you. After all your tongues and spiritual gifts you're still fornicating.
He reaffirmed who they were in Christ, corrected them and instructed them–giving the elder measures for the discipline of such man.
Infact the only time Paul used foolish in his letters isn't regards sin, but to those who deviated from the doctrine of faith into works.
If there should be anyone dragging erring christians, it shouldn't be the believer who knows the scriptures.
Again, it's one thing to expose one's error and correcting them, it's another thing to drag them.
Infact, if a christian, especially a leader errs, it's an indicator that the congregation do not pray for him/her.
You think Paul was a super human? He knew he wasn't hence he always added to his writings that the saints pray for him.
I leave you with this:
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of MEEKNESS; CONSIDERING THYSELF, lest thou also be TEMPTED.
Bear ye ONE ANOTHER'S BURDEN, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
Gal 6:1-4
Take note of the words in capital letters.
• Restore in meekness- correct in gentleness of spirit.
• Considering thyself- in your were in his shoes what would happen.
• Lest thou be tempted- you may have control over your pen.is, but do you have control over your mouth?
• Bear one another's burden- pray for one another and bear the pain of one another.
• If a man thinketh to be something- if you think you're better and you can't do such, alaye calm down. You don't really know what you're capable of until you find yourself in compromising situations.
God help us, Amen.
Loveth Opeyemi
