*TOPIC: GOD IS THERE WITH YOU*

In life, there are times as Children of God, we feel that God does not care or that He is far from us or beyond reach, without you knowing that God is very close or nearer to you than you can ever imagine.

Joshua got to that point in his life where he would not be able to defeat his enemies. This made Joshua's heart sink in fear. At this point, God seems far, but He is near.

Joshua came face to face with the challenge of entering Jericho; he looked up and saw the commander of the Lord's Army on guard and willing to help.

Most at times, when we are on our line of duty and at a crossroads, there is a need to look up to God for his instruction and be willing to obey Him should there be any instruction from the commander's army.

*QUESTION:* What are your fears as you are on your line of duty? Are you thinking that it is over because of the situation?

*PRAYER:* Father Almighty, my confidence is in you. Help me to always look up to you even when I am not the point of giving up, keep me strong in you in Christ's name, Amen.

*TEXT: JOSHUA 5:3-12*
*TOPIC: LET ME EAT THE FRUITS OF THE LAND*
*

God is a covenant-keeping God, and whatever he says is what will come to pass, and he cannot be queries.

In His plan, He [GOD] has a good plan for man, but man always disobeys God's instruction. God's instruction and command of circumcision of the children of Israel, if they are to enter the Promised Land.

In carrying this out, the children of Israel were circumcised in Gilgal.

Of course, God desired that all those who came out of Egypt of military age would not enter the Promised Land, and for forty years they wandered in the wilderness and died because they did not obey God.

*QUESTION:* Do you want to enjoy a good life or eternal life? Then fear God and obey his word.

*PRAYER:* Lord, I desire to eat the fruit of the Land, help me to walk in obedience with you in Christ's name, Amen.

*TOPIC: GOD IS POWERFUL*

Yesterday, we discussed 'Memorable Encounter', which is a result of God's revealing Himself to man through his acts.

It is also good from men to know that God is too powerful and all his acts are for men to know of his power.

So, even the encounter with God is not about self-aggrandisement or self-glories, but it is for the name of the Lord to be lifted high above every other.

This was the response of Joshua in all that God did at the Jordan river, and for their next generation to recognise and acknowledge that God is all-powerful, no matter what they might be going through or have been through.

*QUESTION* : How much of God's power do you acknowledge, and do you trust no matter the situation because He is all-powerful?

*PRAYER:* Dear Lord, thank you for revealing yourself to me, help me not to use my knowledge or encounter with you for self-glory or self-aggrandisement in Christ's name, Amen.

*TOPIC: A MEMORABLE ENCOUNTER*

Encountering God Is One of the best things that will happen to a man, and it is what keeps a Christian man moving in this pilgrim journey here on earth.

Encountering God makes the impossible possible and beyond the comprehension of men to prove God to be God, in dispute.

The text today is a text that calls for the need to testify to what God has done among His people.

God asked Joshua to instruct the Israelites to pick up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan River to be kept as a memorial to God's greatness amongst His people.

This is where one serves as a testimony and relevance to God.

*QUESTION:* What encounter do you have with God?

*PRAYER:* Lord, one thing I asked of you is to help me have an encounter with you daily to remind me of your constant power and Faithfulness in Christ's name Amen.

*TOPIC: THE PRESENCE OF GOD*

*JOSHUA 3:1-8 [NIV]*

1: Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set out from Sh*ttim and went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over.

2: After three days the officers went throughout the camp,

3: giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, who are Levites, carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it.

4: Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about a thousand yards between you and the ark; do not go near it.”

5: Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

6: Joshua said to the priests, “Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.” So they took it up and went ahead of them.

7: And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses.

8: Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.’”

*THE PRESENCE OF GOD*

In the history of children of Israel, the Ark of the Covenant is a symbol of God's presence and power amid his people, Israel, as well as Israel's most treasured and sacred symbol.

The Ark was a gold rectangular box with two cherubim [angels] facing each other. And inside the Ark were the tablets of the Ten Commandments Moses received from God, a jar of Mana [the bread God miraculously provided from heaven during the wilderness wandering].

The Israelites in their sojourn were instructed to follow the Ark so they can know which way to go [vs.4].

In life, we do not know which way or direction to go or know what to do unless we follow God's leading and instruction through the constant study of God's word which always serves as a guideline or compass to us as Christians.

The Holy Spirit of God gives clear guidance and direction to Christians even today in everything ranging from the Christian race, taking a particular direction, signing that contract and making that journey.

*QUESTION:* Are you willing and ready to follow God's leadership in your life? Do you often ask God for direction in life and decisions?

*PRAYER:* Dear God, I do not know which way to go in life, Guide Me in every step I take. Amen.

*WEDNESDAY, 17 JUNE*
*TEXT: JOSHUA 2:1-7*
*TOPIC: THE PRUDENCE OF A GENERAL*

There is a saying that says, look before you leap. This is a statement that calls attention to one to be careful in addressing some critical issues as a Christian.

Yes, Joshua has a mandate and a promise to occupy the land of Jerircho, but he had to show Prudence by sending spies, which would help him to spy the land and for possible strategies.

Remember that Joshua was among the spies that were sent by Moses in numbers 13:1-33; he did not depend on his strength or experience but needed first-hand information to be able to deal with the current situation of taking over Jericho, and for him not to stumble.

*QUESTION:* As God's general [Christians], how do you handle current issues, is it by now for new strategies, or do you dwell in your experience, which is not always the best teacher?

*PRAYER:* Lord, open my eyes to see the new Frontier and strategy to help me prudently deal with issues as God's general.

*MONDAY, 15 JUNE*
*TEXT: JOSHUA 1:1-9*
*TOPIC: YOU HAVE THE MANDATE*
*

In every generation, God has preserved and prepared one that will take up the mantle of leadership or task either in a church home place of work and so on.

Therefore, as one having the mantle to fulfil a particular task there are things to be observed-you need to hear the Lord clearly and the direction God wants one to go [vs.9], His promises for the work [vs.5], one need to be strong and courageous [vs.6-7];

Be willing to walk in obedience of God's word [vs.8] and never ignore to talk and meditation of God's word; which is the key to success [vs.9].

*QUESTION:* You recognise the task and the mantle on you?

*PRAYER:* Oh Lord, help me to recognise that I have a mantle to carry and the task of soul-winning in this generation. Give me the needed strength boldness, courage, the ability to obey your Word and not allow your word to depart from my lip in Christ's name, Amen.
