It was said in Tabaqaatu shaafihiyyah of Assubkii vol 2 page 134

That Rabee bn Sulaiman was from the students of imam shaafihee and he was a slow learner hence ; imam shaafihee repeated a mas'alah forty(40 ) times to him yet he didn't understand so , Rabee got up out of shyness from the learning sitting , imam shaafihee called him to a secluded place and repeated the lesson until he understood

Then he say : o Rabeeh! If I have the ability to feed you knowledge ,I will

Imam al-ajree said in his book 📚 akhlaaqul ulamaa : it is upon a teacher to be patient on slow learners until they understand he shouldn't be hash on them or disgrace them such that their heart will be filled with Fear
