THEME: WILL YOU BE READY? I

MEMORISE: Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
Acts 1:11

READ: 2 Peter 3:3-13
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

MESSAGE
One of the reasons I spent three years studying Elijah was that he was gloriously taken to heaven without having to taste death. If I could have my way, I also would prefer not to die but rather be raptured (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Ever since I have learnt of the rapture, my prayer every night before I sleep has been, "Lord. if You return before tomorrow, please don't leave me behind."

The realization that tomorrow may never come, and that the Lord may return before sunrise, has kept me on my toes since I surrendered my life to Jesus. He can even come this very night. It is clearly written in Luke 17:34 that two people will be on the same bed; one will be taken, and the other will be left behind. If Jesus returns tonight, will you be with Him in glory, or will you be left behind?

Today, I will discuss three out of six crucial things you should know about the Lord's second coming. The remaining three will be discussed tomorrow.

1. It is in two phases: The first phase is the rapture when Jesus descends from heaven to receive believers who have died and those who are still alive unto Himself (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). The second phase is His glorious return, which all eyes shall behold (Revelation 1:7, Revelation 19:11-16).

2. It is imminent: Although it may seem delayed, Jesus will return soon. Ignore people who speak and act as if He will never return. Peter already spoke about them in today's Bible reading, how they will arise in the last days to challenge this truth. Sadly, many pastors have not preached about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in years. Beloved, don't lose focus; keep in mind that Jesus' return is closer than you think. I know His coming seems to be delayed, but God's measurement of time is different from man's measurement, as today's Bible reading also tells us.

3. It is certain: Jesus' return is certain, and there is nothing anyone can do to change it. Today's Bible reading also tells us that the Lord is not slack concerning His promise. He has promised to return, and it is certain that He will (Acts 1:10-11).

In Matthew 24:4-51, Jesus gave us numerous signs of His coming, and one of the prominent signs is that many deceivers will arise and many will be deceived. I pray that you will not be deceived in any way, in Jesus name.

*𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕄𝔼𝕊𝕊𝔸𝔾𝔼:*
A man had two sons. The elder brother remained with the father while the younger one took his inheritance, left for an unknown land, lived a riotous life and squandered his possessions. The end of the story is that he "came to himself," woke up to the reality, and determined he would return to his father in repentance and humility, having suffered so much. For the prodigal son, it was a turning point for good. He was not expecting a celebration. All he wanted was his father's forgiveness and acceptance.

Surprisingly, he got more than he expected; a warm and loving embrace from the father, a celebration to mark his return, and a change of garment which he did not consider fit for himself, considering the wastage. This is God's way of receiving the prodigal, and restoring the lost but found, making him or her a bona fide son or daughter of the kingdom.

Perhaps you are like the prodigal son. You have strayed very far from your Maker and you have lived life on your own terms for a long time. The truth of God to you today is that you can still return and receive His acceptance. No matter how long and how far away you have gone, He will take you if you come to Him. As long as there is life, there is still hope. Don't let the devil deceive you into thinking that your sins are too great to be forgiven.

It is a good thing that the prodigal son did not die in a strange land but he was able to return to the father. You also have a chance to return to your Father in heaven while you are still alive. Death seals judgement. Do not wait until you die to return to your Maker. He is calling you today. Return to Him and receive His mercy and forgiveness.

*RIGHTEOUS LIVING*

*Mem. Verse: Rom. 14:17:* “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

A certain young man sent me this SMS: “Pastor, how can I live righteously in this wicked world and make heaven?”
To live righteously is to live a life that is acceptable to God. It is to live a life that is pleasing to our Maker to whom we shall all return. It is not easy to please God because we must first have His kind of character and mind before we can do what He would do or not do under any circumstance. To live righteously becomes arduous in the midst of people who are pervert, corrupt, and hypocritical.
The righteous man or woman does not cheat; he is just and fair in his dealings. He loves to show mercy because his life is at the mercy of God. He is kind and generous. He humbles himself before man and God. He does not live as lord unto himself. He knows that one day, he would be called to account for his thoughts, words, and actions. The natural man can not live a life that is pleasing to God. He needs the help of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 14:17). He must accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Once a man is in Christ, his sins are forgiven, and the righteousness of God is imputed unto him through Jesus. Jesus, therefore, becomes his righteousness (1 Cor. 1:30). The effort of the natural man to live righteously is in vain because there is no one who does good and does not sin (Ps. 14:3; Eccl. 7:20; Rom. 3:23). All his righteous acts are like filthy rags before God unless he is in Christ (Is. 64:6). In order to make heaven, you must repent today, accept Christ, and become a child of God. The righteousness of God is accounted for only His children who are in the kingdom. Jesus is our righteousness and the way to eternal life.

𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚, 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙨.

*𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕄𝔼𝕊𝕊𝔸𝔾𝔼:*
Daniel and his three friends also made God proud. These Hebrew children were taken into captivity in Babylon, a predominantly gentile and pagan nation. These young children were first taken into the king's palace to be taught the language and literature of the Babylonians (Daniel 1:4). They were given choice food and treated with a level of royalty, but Daniel and his three friends decided to eat only vegetables, which is considered a poor meal. They ended up looking better than their colleagues.

In Daniel chapter three, we also saw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, the friends of Daniel, refusing to bow to the idol of Nebuchadnezzar. They would rather burn than bow. They were thrown into the fire but the Fourth Man showed up. This can only be the demonstration of God's undiluted power.

God was very proud of these men who refused to give in to fear and compromise. They dared the king and manifested the power of their God, in Whom they believed. The king had no choice but to declare this God as the only One to be worshipped. What a way to hallow and honour God! The same thing happened when Daniel was thrown into the lion's den. God appeared on his behalf. The lions could not devour Daniel. He came out unhurt while his enemies were devoured by the lions (Daniel 6:11-17, 22-24).

Beloved, if you desire this special privilege, you must be a friend of God who does not compromise, nor conform to the world and sin. God would always boast of those who are ready to stand for Him against all opposition and persecution. Believers in Christ should stand for God alone, not conforming to the world, nor giving in to the desires of the flesh. I beseech you therefore to become a man or woman that God can boast of. Be a Christian that God can trust, a reliable and committed child of God. God will be pleased and glorified.

THE LEADER WE WANT

Mem. Verse: Jos 1:9:
“Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou
goest”.

Reading: Jos. 17:14-18.

The eyes of the Lord are looking to and fro for a leader whose heart is perfect
toward Him, who will lead this nation to true greatness. Like the Israelites in the
era of Joshua, the formative years are over. This is the time to dominate and
really possess the land for greatness. We need a leader who is courageous. God told
Joshua, 'be strong, vigorous, and courageous; not afraid or easily discouraged.' The test of courage in a leader is not only when he has to face external aggressors. A leader is known for the courage he displays when he has to take a bold and unbiased
decision among the people of his ethnic stock. This was the challenge before Joshua in the passage we read this morning.
Joshua was from the tribe of Ephraim as well as the leader of the whole tribes of
Israel. Ephraim and Manaseh were the children of Joseph adopted by Jacob as his firstborn. They wanted more land because the place given to them on Mt. Ephraim was too small. In making their case before Joshua, they claimed to be great people with numerous populations. When compared with other tribes their claim of a large population was not tenable. Manaseh was 32,200 while Ephraim was 40,500
(Num.1:33-35). Joshua did not contest their claim. He challenged them, being an Ephraimite himself. He told them to conquer more land since they were such great people as they claimed. He promised that whatever land they conquered would be theirs. They complained of giants in the land and of iron chariots, making it difficult to conquer.
Joshua was a veteran. He certainly knew that God was on their side and they would
be victorious if only they would have the courage to contend with the giants. There is something in the character of Joshua for our leaders to learn. Ephraim and Manaseh expected that Joshua, being one of their tribe would take land from other tribes and hand it over to them. Joshua would do no such thing. He knew that he had a covenant with the Lord (Josh. 1:7-8).
We want a leader like Joshua, strong, courageous, undeterred, and not easily bent.
We need a leader who owes no allegiance to any cult, tribe, region, or zone, but to God alone. We need a leader who is just and fair. The Lord does not treat some people more important than others. There is no iniquity in him. Yes, we want a leader who has the character of God, perfect yet human, devoid of nepotism.

2 O Lord, give us leaders of character and integrity as the oak tree.
3 O Lord, ordain for us a leader that shall bring this nation to Your place of rest.

name.
5 Evil covenant, binding our leaders with Satanic powers break by fire.
6 Witchcraft powers, seeking to possess and manipulate our leaders, fail and die.
7 Power of the occult and cults over our leaders, break by fire.
8 Fear of the Lord, come upon our leaders, in Jesus' name.
9 O Lord, lay Your hand upon our leaders to perfect their characters and deeds, in Jesus' name.
