THE THRONE ABOVE THRONES

GOLDEN INSIGHT
Above every earthly throne stands the eternal throne of God. His throne is the throne above thrones, from which all authority is derived, all history is governed, and all creation is sustained.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
Kings rise and kingdoms fall. Presidents are elected and replaced. Empires flourish for a season and then vanish into the pages of history. Every human throne is temporary because every human ruler is finite. But there is one throne that has never been threatened, never been shaken, and never will be overthrown—the throne of the Almighty God.
When Isaiah entered the temple during a national crisis, he saw “the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up” (Isaiah 6:1). King Uzziah had died, but the King of kings was still reigning. Heaven was not in confusion because earth was in crisis. God’s government remained undisturbed. His throne was occupied, His glory filled the temple, and the seraphim continued their unending worship.
The throne of God is the center of divine government. From that throne proceed justice, mercy, wisdom, holiness, and sovereign authority. Nothing escapes His rule. Every nation, every ruler, every angel, every event, and every moment of history is under His supreme dominion. Satan does not possess an equal throne. Evil does not rival God’s authority. The throne above thrones remains forever uncontested.
For the believer, this is a source of unshakable confidence. The One seated upon the throne is also your heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. The hands that hold the sceptre of the universe bear the scars of redemption. Therefore, the throne is not merely a throne of power—it is also a throne of grace. We come boldly, not because of our righteousness, but because of Christ our great High Priest.
Whenever the world appears unstable, lift your eyes above the headlines to the throne. Above every crisis is the King. Above every government is the Governor of the nations. Above every uncertainty is the Lord whose kingdom shall never end.
YOUR WORD MY SWORD DECLARATION
Today I fix my eyes upon the throne above all thrones. My confidence is not in earthly systems but in the eternal King. His kingdom cannot be shaken, His authority cannot be challenged, and His promises cannot fail. I shall live in peace because my God reigns forever. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.
PRAYER
King Eternal, enthroned in majesty and clothed with glory, I bow before Your sovereign throne. Rule over every area of my life. Let my thoughts, desires, decisions, and ambitions be governed by Your perfect will. Teach me to live as a faithful citizen of Your everlasting kingdom until the day I behold Your throne face to face. In Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.
ACTION POINT
Read Revelation 4 slowly today. Spend time worshipping God, not for what He gives, but because He alone is worthy to sit upon the eternal throne.
