WISDOM FOR THE DAY
FRIDAY JUNE 19th

CHRIST CANCELED OUR LEGAL INDEBTEDNESS

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:14-15 KJV

We thank God for the gift of Jesus, even more so, the price that He paid on the cross of Calvary for our redemption. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross was perfectly perfect and completely complete. His resurrection from the grave put a seal on the devil’s defeat. This distinguishes the Christian faith from any other faith.

It is vitally important that we have an understanding of what Christ did and what the victory He wrought on our behalf means to us. Jesus’ death on the cross is not a religious exercise. It was a victory over death, the grave, and whatever hell has to offer.

Apostle Paul, writing to the church in Colossae, figuratively describes what Christ’s death accomplished for the believer. “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us…” In other words, Christ cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness.

The word “cancelled”, from the original Greek, means to wipe out or wash. Metaphorically, this connotes a removal or obliteration of whatever used to be. By “our legal indebtedness”, this agrees totally with the scripture, as stated in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (KJV).

Every single one of us, before receiving redemption through Christ, was a legal slave and a captive of sin. We had the overbearing weight of sin and eternal condemnation hanging over our heads, which empowered the devil to table accusations against us before the Father.

But Christ, through His death, has utterly destroyed everything that gave the enemy a legal hold over your life. By the reason of the price that He paid on the cross of Calvary, the enemy can no longer bring any accusation whatsoever against you before God. That tells you that you have total victory.

WISDOM FOR THE DAY
WEDNESDAY JUNE 17th

HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURES

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” John 14:26 KJV

Apart from being focused and giving attention to the scriptures, you must also learn to engage the help of the Holy Spirit while you are studying. The Holy Spirit is there to teach you about all things, including the Word of God.

In Acts 8:30, the Eu**ch from Ethiopia was reading his bible, but he did not have an understanding of what he was reading. And so Philip had to explain it to him. This is the job of the Holy Spirit. He is there to reveal to you what God is saying.

You see, when you read the scriptures with the help of the Holy Spirit, it comes alive. Therefore, before you read your bible, pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to understand.

The importance of prayer in getting understanding cannot be overemphasized. The bible says: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James‬ 1‬:5‬ NKJV‬‬). Learn to pray about what you are reading. Pray that the promises of God will be a reality in your life.

Sometimes, just burst into tongues as you read. Pray also in your understanding. God will begin to open your eyes and drop things in your heart that you have never imagined or thought about. ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

These are not the days to just go about being a surface-level believer with no depth. The devil is not playing any games, he means business. Therefore, we believers must get serious. If we must overcome, then we must be ready to pursue understanding.

It is beyond head knowledge. It is heart knowledge. It is about revelation. My prayer for you today is that the Holy Spirit will give you revelation concerning different areas of your life. And you will have understanding.

WISDOM FOR THE DAY
MONDAY JUNE 15th

PRAY ALWAYS

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” Ephesians 6:19 KJV

It is no longer news that the days we live in are evil. But the good news is that God has made enough spiritual weapons available for the believer to ward off the wiles of the devil. God knows that you live in a world where the enemy tries to intimidate you and back you into a corner.

So, in His infinite wisdom, God fashioned your weapons of warfare from heaven. When you understand and deploy these spiritual weapons, then you can truly possess your possession. One of such weapons I would like to remind you of is the power of prayers and fasting.

The problem with a lot of Christians today is that we are busy fighting spiritual battles with carnal weapons. For those of you in business for instance, understand that you cannot win in the marketplace by fighting with carnal weapons. As a wife, or husband, daughter, or son, you can’t win it that way either.

There are battles to fight, but you cannot win using carnal weapons. Look at what the scriptures say in Ephesians 6:12-17 “…Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.’’ (KJV)

With this impressive arsenal at your disposal, you cannot afford to coast along in life and hope that the devil will just go away. No, this is the time to deploy your weapons. It is time to stand and fight. This is the time to step out, praying always, in all manner of prayers.

Let your life be soaked in the Word and prayer, then you’ll become a terror to the devil. Put on the whole armour of God and fight. Don’t let the enemy pluck out your eyes. There is power in prayers.
