THE STAYING POWER
Preacher: Sir Peter
Main Scripture: Matthew 6:33
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
INTRODUCTION
There is power in staying with God.
Many people can start with God, but the real test is not how well you start—it is how long you can remain with Him.
The Christian life requires consistency, commitment, and the determination to remain in God’s presence regardless of what we face.
Your staying power determines what you are able to accomplish with God.
WHY DO WE NEED TO STAY WITH GOD?
1. OUR PURPOSE AND DESTINY ARE TIED TO STAYING WITH GOD
Matthew 6:33
Our purpose and destiny cannot be fully fulfilled outside God’s will.
There are things God has prepared for us that can only be accessed when we remain connected to Him.
When we stay with God:
* We remain in His will.
* We receive direction.
* We discover our purpose.
* We have the grace to fulfil our destiny.
You cannot abandon the source and expect to fulfil the purpose.
The more we stay with God, the more we understand what He has called us to become.
2. IN STAYING WITH GOD LIES THE ANSWERS TO OUR QUESTIONS
There are many questions we may have about our lives:
* Where am I going?
* What is my purpose?
* What should I do next?
* Why am I passing through this season?
* What is God preparing me for?
Sometimes we spend too much time looking for answers from people when the greatest answers are found in the presence of God.
When you stay with God, He begins to reveal what you could not understand by yourself.
The presence of God gives clarity, direction, wisdom, and understanding.
Don’t run away from God because you don’t understand what you are going through.
Stay with Him until He gives you understanding.
3. KNEELING BEFORE GOD GIVES YOU THE AUTHORITY TO STAND BEFORE YOUR ENEMIES
There is a relationship between kneeling before God and standing before your enemies.
When you learn to submit yourself before God, you receive spiritual strength and authority to face the battles around you.
When you stand with God, you have the authority to confront principalities and powers.
You cannot consistently stand against spiritual opposition if you are not willing to consistently stand with God.
Your strength is not in yourself.
Your confidence comes from knowing who stands with you.
Therefore:
Kneel before God so you can stand boldly before your enemies.
WHAT BRINGS ABOUT THE STAYING POWER?
1. AUTHORITY
Understanding your authority in Christ gives you the strength to remain.
When you know who you are and whose you are, circumstances will not easily push you away from God.
You must understand that you are not powerless.
Knowledge of your spiritual authority gives you confidence to remain standing.
2. THE LOVE PRINCIPLE
Love is one of the greatest reasons we stay.
When you truly love God, you don’t only seek Him because of what He can give you.
You seek Him because you love Him.
When challenges come, love keeps you.
When prayers seem unanswered, love keeps you.
When the journey becomes difficult, love keeps you.
If your relationship with God is based only on what you receive from Him, you may leave when things become difficult. But when it is based on love, you will remain.
3. THE SPIRIT OF GOD
The Holy Spirit gives us the grace and strength to remain with God.
There are moments when human strength is not enough.
The Holy Spirit:
* Strengthens us.
* Guides us.
* Convicts us.
* Teaches us.
* Helps us remain connected to God.
You cannot sustain your walk with God by human strength alone.
You need the Spirit of God.
CONCLUSION
The Christian journey is not just about starting with God.
It is about staying with God.
Stay when things are good.
Stay when things are difficult.
Stay when your prayers seem unanswered.
Stay when you don’t understand the season.
Stay because your purpose is tied to God.
Stay because your answers are found in Him.
Stay because your authority comes from Him.
And stay because you love Him.
FINAL CHARGE
Don’t just have the power to start
ask God for the staying power.
Stay with God, and God will sustain you.
