PRESS RELEASE
ADC GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE VISITS OMUOKO-ALUU FOLLOWING ARSON ATTACK ON ADC CHIEFTAIN
• Ikwerre Council, OSPAC Fingered
The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, Dr. Gabriel Pidomson, alongside the Chairman of the ADC in Rivers State, Chief Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa, has visited Omuoko Community in Aluu following the reported arson attack on an ADC chieftain, Mr. Isaiah Thomas, on Tuesday night.
Mr. Thomas, who is the Chief Whip of the ADC in Ikwerre Local Government Area and the Alternate Leader of the party in Aluu, had hosted ADC supporters at his compound on Tuesday morning. The meeting reportedly ended peacefully at noon, with no incidents of violence.
According to eyewitness accounts, a team of operatives of the Ikwerre OSPAC security outfit, allegedly led by its commander, Mr. Kingsley Wali, who also serves as the Chief Security Officer of the Ikwerre Local Government Council, stormed the compound in the middle of the night. The operatives were alleged to have destroyed properties, including rented chairs, assaulted parents and tenants, looted valuables, and set ablaze the building occupied by Mr. Thomas, his family, and tenants.
In response to the incident, Dr. Pidomson, who was on his way out of the state for an official engagement, made a stop at the scene to assess the extent of the damage and express solidarity with the victims. He consequently lodged a formal complaint at the Aluu Division of the Nigerian Police Force.
Following the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer of Aluu Division, CSP Abdulsalam Modu, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the scene alongside the Chairman of the ADC in Rivers State, Chief Engr. Chukwudi Dimkpa, and other party officials.
Dr. Pidomson condemned the incident and vowed to pursue the matter through every legitimate legal and constitutional means available until justice is served.
He questioned why the OSPAC security outfit is being allowed to operate in Ikwerre LGA, in a manner that violates the law. He called on security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and ensure that justice is served, stressing that acts of violence, intimidation, and the destruction of property have no place in a democratic society.
