*WHEN GOD TAKES AWAY THE REPROACH*

Bible Texts: Luke 1:6-7, 24-25

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 22-24, Jude 1

A reproach is a form of disgrace or shame associated with a believer. God is ever ready, willing and able to take away all forms, of reproach from us. God visited Elizabeth and Zechariah after years of waiting on the Lord. The response of Elizabeth in Luke 1:25 (NLT) is worth considering. _“How kind the Lord is! She exclaimed. He has taken away my disgrace of having no children”_

God is still in the business of taking away all forms of reproach today. However, you must ascertain the kind or type of reproach in your life so that the necessary solution can be provided. It is when you have been able to know what a problem is that you can seek the requisite solution.

Whatever the reproach is, you must be rest assured that God is not the architect of those anomalies. Most times, reproaches are from Satan and other times they are self-inflicted. People around you can equally affect you with a form of reproach.

God is the master solution for all our challenges. Never exaggerate your problem by thinking that there can never be solution to your problem. There is a solution for every problem. Jesus gave us an open invitation in _Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”_ Man has the responsibility to come before God. Anxiety, fear, self-pity can never bring solution to your problem. Your solution is in Christ. Apostle Paul remarks thus in _Philippians 4:6 (NLT) “Don’t worry about anything instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all He has done.”_ Prayer works wonders. Prayer attracts divine intervention and the miraculous.

In times of challenges, ensure your commitment to service and your worship of God is not affected. Zechariah continued in his priestly assignment despite the challenges he had. He had a pedigree of being righteous. _“And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.”_ Luke1:6. We don’t serve God because of what He has done for us only but we serve God selflessly because it is commanded. There is no substitute or alternative to God. He remains our creator and the anchor of our existence. He is worthy to be praised and worshipped. Glory!

*Declaration and Action:*

- Oh Lord my God, take away this reproach (Please specify) from my life in Jesus’ name.

- I firmly attest that you are able, all powerful, all sufficient to handle all my challenges, in Jesus’ name.

*Takeaway: God is still in the business of taking away all forms of reproach today. Whatever the challenge may be, I will keep serving God selflessly and trust him wholeheartedly.*

*Memory Verse:*

_Joshua 5:9 “And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.”_

*CONSISTENT SELF-EVALUATION*

Bible Text: 2 Corinthians 13:5-10

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 19-21, 3 John 1

It will be practically wrong to live our lives without personal evaluation. In the contemporary society, people are evaluated before promotion to the next level in schools, corporate entities and even in bible schools. Therefore, it is non-negotiable to carry out assessment of yourself with obvious variables in every facet of life.

Evaluation is possible because as believers, we know what God expects of us and we equally know our level of compliance. We are in compliance or we fall short of God's expectation. David was emphatic when he noted in Psalm 139:23-24 as stated, _“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”_ God can always reveal our spiritual state to us. One can actually pray and ask God to search him or her through and through. Specific areas of personal evaluation include the following:

- Your level of obedience to God and righteous living.

You will definitely know anytime sin and any form of ungodliness is lurking within you. We should not accommodate sin at any time. The word of God must be indwelling in us if we must escape sin. The Bible records in _Psalm 119:11“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”_ Therefore, be deliberate to take sin out of your life consciously.

- Evaluate your prayer and study life.

There are obvious kingdom responsibilities that cannot be substituted. Your utmost growth in this kingdom is a function of your consistent adherence to kingdom practices. We are either growing spiritually or we are not. God will always help us in Jesus’ name. In a world of several distractions, we must be deliberate to say no to spiritual weakness and laxity. Apostle Paul remarked lovingly to his son Timothy in _2 Timothy 2:1 “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”_ He reiterated the same message to the church in Ephesus in _Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”_

In conclusion, don't just live a life without personal assessment. The will of God for us is the very best. His grace is sufficient for us to remain steadfast in Kingdom service.

*Declaration and Action:*

- In practical terms, evaluate your level of compliance with kingdom demands and responsibilities.

- I wholeheartedly ask for grace to keep pressing forward against all odds in Jesus’ name.

*Take Away: There is a need for me to continually evaluate myself against the backdrop of God’s word to ascertain if I am in compliance with God’s word.*

*Memory Verse:*

Psalm 139:23-24
_“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”_

*DON’T GIVE UP WHEN OPPOSED*

Bible Text: Luke 18:35-42

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 16-18, 2 John 1

Oppositions are not alien to human existence. There is a possibility of being opposed when embarking on worthwhile projects and decisions. Some people can be instigated and set up against what is right and just. Doing the will of God does not absolve you of opposition and challenges. But in the midst of the challenges, your victory is assured in Christ. We must keep pressing forward.

The blind beggar was openly, opposed when he called on Jesus, Son of David to have mercy on him. The Bible says in _Luke 18:39 “And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”_ They never wanted Jesus to give attention to him. Note that the blind man did not receive an answer from Jesus the first time that he called on Jesus. It is possible to pray to God and not receive an immediate answer from God. At such times, are you to give up? You must persist like the blind beggar. Pressing forward in the place of prayers and trusting God for His divine intervention. Blind Bartimaeus did not give up. The Bible says in _Mark 10:48 “And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”_

When Jesus saw the persistence and importunity of Blind Bartimaeus, Jesus gave attention to him. _“And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.”_ Mark 10:49. The same people that disdained blind Bartimaeus later cheered him up because he never gave up despite the obvious opposition. Most times, life will not give you what you deserve but what you demand. Divine supply will always reply to human demand.

Beloved, don't be discouraged amidst fierce confrontations, conflicts, persecution or opposition. God is a constant help and refuge in times of trouble. Our responsibility is to pray and pray until He answers us. In Luke 18:1(Amp), the Bible says _“Also, Jesus told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart and give up).”_ Confess and profess what you want to see, and as you keep saying it, it will come to manifestation in the physical sense. God is faithful, reliable and dependable. Glory!

*Declaration and Action:*

- No matter the opposition to my life expectations that are in accordance with the will of God, I will not give up.

- I receive grace to pray and pray through in Jesus’ name.

*Take Away: I am resolute never to give up for whatever reason. I am empowered and strengthened.*

*Memory Verse:*

_Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”_

*INCREASE COMES FROM GOD*

Bible Text: Isaiah 51:1-3

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 13-15, 1 John 5

God is overly interested in our increase both in life, ministry and in all facets of life. God is the originator of increase in Genesis 1:28. The case of Abraham is worth considering. God graciously blessed Abraham and caused him to be a blessing to several generations till date. In _Genesis 13:2 “And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.”_ We can keep up our faith and trust God for this kind of increase and blessing. The testimony of Abraham in Isaiah 51:2(NLT) is laudable. _“Yes, think about Abraham your ancestor and search who gave birth to your nation. Abraham was only one man when I called him. But when I blessed him, he became a great nation.”_

Your greatness can only come from God and not just from hard labour alone. Even when man plants and waters, increase can only come from God. Am I trying to encourage laziness in any way? Not at all. Hard work, diligence and excellence are quite good and expected of humans but worth noting is the fact that you cannot remarkably experience breakthrough without God. James 1:17 lays credence to the aforementioned. _“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”_ Without mincing words, increase comes from God.

Since God Himself ordained increase we can activate our increase by calling it forth in the place of prayers. Prayer is an attestation of man’s limitation and the involvement of divinity in the affairs of humanity. Beloved, never ever think that whatever you have is a product of your wisdom and efforts. The life we have is from God and Him alone. God is supreme, exist in His own class alone and He is all powerful.

The promise of increase in Jeremiah 30:19 is soul elating _“And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.”_ You can be sure of unending increase when you keep on speaking and declaring God’s word back to Him. He is ever faithful to whatever He says in His word. Your supernatural increase is guaranteed in Jesus’ name.

*Declaration and Action:*

- Increase on every positive side is God’s will for my life and all that concerns me.

- I called forth my increase and multiplication in a geometric progression in Jesus’ name.

*Take Away: Increase comes from God alone. It is God’s desire to increase me and I can call forth my increase in the place of prayer.*

*Memory Verse:*

_Psalm 71:21 “Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.”_

*AGLOW FOR GOD*

Bible Text: Psalm 63:1-11

Bible in One Year: Isaiah 10-12, 1 John 4

It is in our place to love God lavishly, deliberately and whole heartedly. God is looking for His children who will be selfless, passionate and zealous to serve Him without reservation. To be burning for God will entail your internal/heart disposition and your external manifestation. Longing for God begins from the inside where your heart burns with love for God. David remarked in _Psalm 63:1 “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.”_ Arise, beloved of God, let hunger for God consume you.

There is no alternative to God. God is absolute and He is the I AM THAT I AM. It is either you are with Him or you are not. Your safety is guaranteed when you remain with Him and worship Him in spirit and truth. There are attendant blessings when you follow God passionately. Jesus Himself teaching His disciples remarked in Matthew 5:6, 8 thus _“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”_ Therefore, when your heart is full of love and passion for God, you will certainly see God.

It is important to note that beyond the internal longing for God there must be outward evidence of your love for God. You cannot love God within without obvious commitment that can be seen by others. Your actions therefore will justify your love for God. It is imperative to fellowship with one another, tell others about Jesus, minister to the sick and all those in need, care for the helpless, the widows and orphans. The apostolic church handed over to us was replete or abounding in an outstanding manner of sound relationship amongst brethren. The Bible says in _Matthew 7:20 (NLT) “Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.”_

*Declaration and Action:*

- I will keep longing for God with all my entirety.

*Take Away: My love and passion for God must be seen in my actions.*

*Memory Verse:*

_Psalm 42:1 “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”_

*DON’T NEGOTIATE YOUR COMMITMENT TO GOD*

Bible Text: Acts 2:42-47

Bible in One Year: Isaiah 7-9, 1 John 3

Commitment is being bound emotionally and intellectually to a course of action. In essence, it is the trait of sincerity and focused purpose. We live in a world with so many tasks and responsibilities, yet God has requested that we get committed to Him which of course involves our time. This calls for wisdom to know how to balance our commitment to God and other secular activities.

The following will help you in no small measure to balance your commitment to God.

- The principle of priority must be well understood.

_“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”_ Matthew 6:33. We should appreciate that God comes first before any other thing.

- The knowledge of God is consequential to commitment.

The more of Him you know, the more of Him you want to tell others. When we seek God earnestly, our knowledge of Him will undoubtedly increase. What do you have that is not given to you by God? _James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”_

- For you to be committed to God, you must not be a lazy fellow.

Laziness goes with procrastination and procrastination, they say, is the thief of time. The Bible says in Romans 12:11(NLT), _“Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.”_ Diligence contrast laziness. Diligence therefore entails being industrious, hardworking and focused. Leadership is often for those who are diligent. _“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.”_ Proverbs 12:24.

- Partner with serious minded people.

Friendship is influential. _“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”_ Proverbs 27:17.

- Always know and be so sure that there is a reward for commitment.

You can never evade the law of sowing and reaping. _“Be not deceived, God is not mocked for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.”_ Galatians 6:7.

*Declaration and Action:*

- There is no alternative to commitment to God. I must be committed.

*Take Away: Commitment to God means prioritizing Him above all else, growing in His knowledge, practicing diligence, choosing uplifting companions, and trusting that faithful devotion always brings reward.*

*Memory Verses:*

_Colossians 3:23 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”_

_Acts 2:42 “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”_
