The oldest Quran teacher at the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah has passed away after more than 50 years of service. Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Haji taught Quran and the Ten Qira'at continuously at Masjid an-Nabawi, beginning his circles on the gravel floor before carpets were laid. Funeral prayers were held after Asr at the Prophet's Mosque, and he was buried in Jannat al-Baqi.
