The Nature of Forgiveness and Redemption

One of the truths we must understand as believers is the nature of the forgiveness and redemption we have received in Christ.

«“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.” — Colossians 2:13»

🔑 UNDERSTANDING FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness in Christ means that our sins have been dealt with through the finished work of Jesus.

I am forgiven of my sins.

The believer must understand this reality instead of continually living under the weight of guilt and condemnation.

🔑 UNDERSTANDING REDEMPTION

«“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” — Ephesians 1:7»

Redemption means being delivered from the penalty of our sins.

Christ paid the price for our redemption. Therefore, our confidence is not in our ability to make ourselves righteous, but in what Christ has accomplished for us.

The nature of our forgiveness points us to the security of what Christ has done, while the nature of redemption reminds us that we have been delivered from the penalty of sin.

✨ THE BELIEVER'S CONFESSION

I am forgiven.
I have been redeemed.
I have been delivered from the penalty of sin.
My confidence is in Christ and His finished work.

When you understand the nature of forgiveness and redemption, you will stop allowing your past to define your future.

📖 AND IF ANY MAN SIN… — PART 1

Christ, Our Advocate
«“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” — 1 John 2:1»

The Christian life is not built on the perfection of our performance, but on our faith in the finished work of Christ.

John tells us, “And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father.” An advocate is one who stands for another—a representative, an intercessor, one who pleads the case.

🔑 WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE BELIEVER?

1. Christ is our Advocate.
When we fall, Jesus Christ is our Advocate with the Father. Our confidence is not in ourselves but in Him.

2. Sin no longer has dominion over the believer.
When you are in Christ, sin can no longer determine or destroy your future. Christ has dealt with the power and penalty of sin.

3. Your salvation is not based on your performance.
Our salvation is based on faith in Christ, not on how perfectly we perform.

4. Christ continues to intercede for us.
Romans 8:34 reminds us that Christ is at the right hand of God, making intercession for us.

«“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” — Romans 8:34»

Therefore, when you fall, do not run away from God in condemnation. Look to Christ, your Advocate.

You have an Advocate with the Father!

Happy Birthday, Pastor Dr. Philip Ransom-Bello 🎂

Today, I celebrate you with a grateful heart. Watching you grow into the man, son, and servant of God you have become fills me with great joy and thanksgiving to God.

I am so proud of you and grateful for the grace of God upon your life. My prayer for you is that you will continue to walk in God’s wisdom, grow in grace, and fulfil every purpose He has ordained for you.
And May this new year bring you greater strength, deeper revelation, divine favour, and fresh accomplishments. May the Lord preserve you, establish you, and cause His light to shine brightly through you.

3. Prayer handles affliction
There are circumstances in life that require more than physical effort.
James 5:13 says: “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.”

Prayer becomes our response in difficult seasons.
When you are under pressure, pray.
When you are facing uncertainty, pray.
When your family needs divine intervention, pray.
When you don't know what to do, pray.
Don't allow pressure to push you away from prayer; let pressure push you into prayer.

4. Pray according to the authority of Jesus
Jesus said:
“Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he may give you.” — John 16:23

To pray in Jesus' name is more than adding “in Jesus' name” at the end of a prayer.
It means praying from the authority, character and finished work of Christ.
When we pray according to His will and His Word, we are exercising the authority He has given us.

5. Your prayer must be backed by the Word
Psalm 103:20 tells us that God's angels are attentive to His Word.

Therefore, don't merely pray emotional words.
- Know the Word.
- Know what God has said.
- Speak His Word.
- Pray His Word.
- Stand upon His promises.
Your knowledge of the Word gives substance to your prayer life.

🔥 PART 2 — PRAYER: THE MINISTRY OF INTERCESSION

Prayer does not end with what God has done for us. There is also a ministry of intercession.

Jesus completed the work of atonement, but the ministry of intercession continues.
“He ever liveth to make intercession for them.” — Hebrews 7:25

This means that prayer is not simply about asking for personal blessings. We can stand in the place of prayer for people, situations, families, churches, communities and nations.

1. Prayer is not trying to change God's hand
One of the most important things we must understand is this:
Intercession is not about changing God.
God is sovereign.
Our prayers do not make God more loving, more merciful or more willing to help.

Rather, prayer is one of the means through which God accomplishes His purposes on the earth.
So we do not pray because God is unwilling. We pray because God has chosen to work through prayer.

2. Grace is God's work, not our achievement.
The notes remind us that grace is about what God has done—not what we can accomplish by ourselves.

We do not approach God based on our perfection. We approach Him because of what Christ has accomplished.
That gives us confidence in prayer.

You don't pray because you are worthy in yourself. You pray because Christ has given you access.

2. Prayer is not worrying about what God has asked you to pray about.
God expects us to pray about all things rather than carry anxiety about them.
Prayer changes our posture.
Instead of asking, “What am I going to do?” we begin to ask, “Lord, what is Your will concerning this?”

Instead of being overwhelmed by the situation, we bring the situation before God.
Prayer does not mean we deny reality. It means we refuse to allow reality to become greater than God's Word.

3. Prayer produces discovery
Prayer is also a place of discovery.
As we pray and study the Word, we begin to understand God's mind concerning our lives.

There are things you will not discover merely by reasoning. There are dimensions of God's purpose that become clearer as you fellowship with Him.
Prayer gives you access to divine perspective.

4. Prayer activates spiritual possibilities.
– There are situations that human strength cannot handle.
– There are doors that intelligence cannot open.
– There are battles that money cannot fight.

But prayer connects you to the God who is greater than every limitation.
This is why prayer MUST NOT become an emergency tool that we use only when things go wrong.

PRAYER SHOULD BE A LIFESTYLE.

🔥PART 1 — PRAYER: YOUR CONNECTION TO THE SUPERNATURAL

Prayer is more than a religious activity. Prayer is a spiritual connection through which we engage with God and His purposes for our lives.

The fact that we are under grace does not mean we should stop praying. Grace does not eliminate prayer; grace gives us access to pray with confidence.
“Being under grace does not stop you from praying.”

God has already made provision for us, but prayer is one of the ways we position ourselves to receive and walk in what He has made available.

1. Prayer brings what is in heaven into our experience
Jesus taught us to pray:
“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” — Matthew 6:10
Prayer is therefore not about trying to convince God to do something He does not want to do. It is about bringing our lives into alignment with His will, His Word and His purpose.

There are things God has spoken concerning your life, and prayer becomes a channel through which those things find expression.
When God speaks, there is a performance of His Word.

We see this principle throughout Scripture. God gave Abraham a word concerning Isaac, and in due season that word was fulfilled. God promised restoration, and His Word produced restoration.

God's Word is not empty. It carries the power to produce what He has spoken.

4. Wisdom teaches restraint

Not everything you can do should be done.
Not everything you can say should be said.
Not every opportunity should be accepted.
Not every battle deserves your attention.

Wisdom gives you the ability to say no when necessary. It teaches you that sometimes walking away is wiser than winning an argument.

5. Wisdom gives distinction

Proverbs 3:13–18 presents wisdom as something precious and life-giving.

When you walk in wisdom, your decisions begin to speak for you.
Your life becomes more ordered, productive and purposeful.

And so in Conclusion I have this to say;

- The supremacy of wisdom means we must give wisdom its rightful place in our lives.
-Pursue wisdom. Receive wisdom. Apply wisdom.
-Don't merely ask God for blessings. Ask Him for the wisdom to handle the blessings.
-Don't only pray for opportunities. Pray for the wisdom to recognise them.
-Don't only pray for success. Pray for the wisdom to sustain it.

Because what you do with what you have will often determine what you become.

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” — Proverbs 4:7
