MID YEAR THANKSGIVING SERVICE
Speaker: Rev. Christopher Ishaku
Text: Ps. 103:2; Lk. 17:15–19; Acts 16:25–26
Topic: Celebrating God's Faithfulness
Introduction:
We are grateful to God for bringing us to see the sixth month of the year. It's good to pause and reflect on the journey this far. Many started the year but they are no more. We are not gathered because we are better, wiser or righteous than those who are no more.
Friends, it is the faithfulness and mercies of God that has kept us to this very day. That is why we are here to celebrate His faithfulness. Mid-year thanksgiving is necessary because we are acknowledging that without God, we could have done nothing.
Friends, thanksgiving should be our lifestyle because it is a seed for more. When we celebrate God for what He has done, we position ourselves to receive what He is yet to do in our lives. When you don't celebrate God, you are shutting the door of divine blessings, but when you celebrate Him, heavens will be open for you.
Question:
Why are we celebrating God's Faithfulness?
1. Because God has given us many benefits (v2)
- He daily loads us with blessings
- He preserves and sustains us
- He shows us mercy continually
2. Because we understand the value of celebrating His faithfulness (v15)
- Thanksgiving attracts divine attention
- Gratitude brings wholeness
- Appreciation leads to more blessings
3. Because God goes ahead of us (v26)
- God fights our battles
- He opens impossible doors
- His presence brings victory
Reflection
When we celebrate God’s faithfulness, we acknowledge that all we have and all we are come from Him alone.
Conclusion
