Sunday Service Summary – 7th June, 2026
Church: ECWA 1 Takau
Topic: Steadfast Faith While Our Lamps Are Still Burning
Text: Job 2:1–10
Speaker: Pst. Linus Dauda
The message was a continuation of last week’s sermon, focusing on the unwavering faith of Job despite intense trials. After experiencing devastating losses, Job remained steadfast and did not deny God. The sermon reminds us that regardless of our circumstances or present condition, we must always recognize that God remains in absolute control. Our challenges are not beyond His knowledge, and His sovereignty is never compromised.
The speaker further explained that God permitted the devil to afflict Job’s health, but not his life. Job was struck with severe sickness, yet he did not turn against God. Even when his wife urged him to curse God and die, Job responded with remarkable faith, saying, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all these painful experiences, Job did not sin with his lips, demonstrating spiritual maturity and deep trust in God.
In conclusion, the sermon emphasized that in our Christian journey, the devil knows us personally and will test our faith. However, we are encouraged to remain steadfast, just like Job, holding firmly to our faith while our “lamps are still burning.” No matter the trials we face, we must stand firm, trust God completely, and refuse to compromise our faith, knowing that our endurance will ultimately bring glory to God.
Have a blessed week ahead.
