DAILY MANNA 2025 DEVOTIONAL

DATE: WED, OCT 29, 2025

TITLE: REWARDS FOR OVERCOMERS

KEY VERSE:
"Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name." - (Revelation 3:12).

READ: Revelation 3:7-13 (KJV)
7. And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

8. I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

9. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

10. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

12. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

13. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

MESSAGE:
Peter Drucker, renowned management and leadership expert, told the story of "a young man (who) once studied violin under a world-renowned master. Eventually, the time came for his first recital. The performer seemed dissatisfied after each selection despite the crowd's cheers. Even after the last number, with shouts louder than ever, the talented violinist stood watching an older man on the balcony. Finally, the elderly one smiled and nodded in approval. Immediately, the young man relaxed and beamed with happiness. The applause of the crowd meant nothing to him until he had first won the hearty approval of his famous teacher. So, too, the Christian must do all he does looking for God's approval and in that, be rewarded. Let the task be the reward."

The Philadelphia church in Asia Minor, one of the seven churches addressed in the book of Revelation, faced persecution from false assemblies claiming to be Jews. Despite this, the church remained faithful and received commendation and assurance from Christ. Although the church would continue to face persecution, it was encouraged to remain faithful unto death and would receive a crown of life. Though not materially wealthy, the church was rich in faith, grace, and righteousness, and did not compromise its beliefs by adopting the practices of idolatrous assemblies claiming to be churches of God. The Philadelphia church stood firm in its faith, resisting corruption and remaining true to the teachings of Christ.

This timeless and universal message speaks directly to contemporary believers and assemblies today. Our commitment and loyalty to Christ and His word must be steadfast and incomparable to any other allegiance. Despite our trials, temptations and persecutions, the Lord expects us to remain faithful to the end. The promised crown for overcomers and Christ's commendation await only those who overcome sin, temptations, trials, the world, the flesh, the devil and all his tricks. A songwriter captures what our resolve and determination should be when he wrote, "Go labour on! 'tis not for nought; Thy earthly loss is heav'nly gain; Men heed thee, love thee, praise thee not; The Master praises, what are men?"

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Overcomers' rewards are for true overcomers.

What are you focused on? Outward facade or inward reality? Many appear outwardly beautiful, but are "full of dead men's bones and of all uncleanness within". The Pharisees tried that path, cleaning the cup outwardly while remaining full of "extortion and excess".
Don't deceive yourself. God is looking at your inward parts.

This is a call to address our filthiness (flesh and spirit) in view of eternity. When you try to clean yourself up, you are partial, picking and choosing which filthiness to retain.
God promises: "Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you and ye shall be clean from all your filthiness". When God does the cleansing, you will be clean and cleansed from all your idols.

Are you a man or woman of conviction? Without conviction, you are easily derailed and become a slave to bad habits. Daniel "purposed in his heart" not to defile himself. You must perseveringly leave all and cleave to Christ, our Captain.
You must "flee also youthful lusts".

We must "purify ourselves" to be "preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ". Don't allow anything to compromise your faith.
Watch 'The Promised Blessing of Cleansing in View of Eternity.

πŸ“–READING

[3:13] Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

[3:14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

[3:15] Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

[3:16] Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

πŸ“–MESSAGE

Many are familiar with the inspiring story of Nick Vujicic, born without limbs. Not many, however, know how he has continued to push aside the burdens and challenges of his disabilities to become a great instrument of inspiration and ambassador of the gospel. Nick faced tremendous challenges and bullying during his childhood but did not allow that to deter him, as his faith led him to become an international motivational speaker and evangelist, inspiring millions with his message of hope and resilience. He elevated his spirit above his body. He has turned the privilege of receiving the gospel and this high calling into a tool that has enabled him to transform his trials into triumphs and become a blessing to millions worldwide.

The Christian calling was not and cannot be procured on the altar of mental and secular appointments. It does not crumble under physical disability or mental weakness. Described variously in Scripture as a high, holy, and heavenly calling, it implies that believers' choice and assignment in Kingdom service emanate from a greater power and elevated platform. It comes with a total package that eliminates sin, carelessness, and frivolities. It blesses us with freedom from sin, holiness, a consistent, blameless life, and a walk with God. This high calling, however, demands that Christians present their bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, consecrated, and committed to remaining faithful to our Lord and Master.

Despite his eloquent testimonies of success and achievement in God's service, Apostle Paul refused to be complacent and took nothing for granted. He expressed an undying passion for heaven and the service of the Lord. Hence, he said, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." What a lesson! What an example! We must appreciate our calling as believers and strive daily, labouring in His vineyard and praying that the Lord will plant our feet on higher ground every day. This will enable us to run this race successfully to the end and win the ultimate prize by God's grace.

[11] The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

[12] If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

[13] For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

[14] This is my rest forever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

[15] I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

[16] I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

[17] There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

[18] His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

_*"The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne" (PSALM 132:11).*_

*πŸ“–MESSAGE*
C. S. Lewis in his biography tells of the suffering he endured because he kept a promise he had made to a buddy during _World War I._ This friend was worried about the care of his wife and small daughter if he should be killed in battle, so Lewis assured him that if that were to happen he would look after them. As the war dragged on, the man was killed. True to his word, Lewis took care of his friend's family. Yet no matter how helpful he tried to be, the woman was ungrateful, rude, arrogant, and domineering. Through it all, Lewis kept forgiving her. He refused to let her actions become an excuse to renege on his promise.

God made promises to preserve David's royal line and bless his kingdom if his descendants obeyed His covenant. The descendants of David would continue to rule and enjoy God's presence, with physical and spiritual prosperity. Despite their disobedience leading to the end of their dynasty, these promises have a prophetic dimension pointing to Jesus Christ as the ultimate King who will rule in righteousness forever, as Peter referenced in his message at Pentecost.

The passage emphasises that God is faithful and His promises are unbreakable, as indicated by the phrase "the Lord has sworn in truth." The writer of Hebrews explains that God reinforces His promises with an oath, showing the unchanging nature of His counsel. This unbreakable aspect of God's promises should provide us with comfort and security in our journey of faith. The passage underscores the reliability and certainty of God's word, assuring us that we can safely trust Him.

The promises made to David in the Bible are fulfilled in Christ, who has chosen believers and promised to always be with them. God dwells within believers through the Holy Spirit and provides abundant provisions and sustenance for the poor. While challenges may still arise, believers can trust in God's care and provision. His promises also include spiritual blessings such as salvation, righteousness, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Those who repent and have faith in Jesus Christ are assured of victory and eternal reign with the Lord. These promises are like open cheques, requiring faith and obedience to claim them and bring joy to those who follow the Lord.

✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:```
God is faithful, His promises cannot fail.
