Before you walk away from God because of what someone in church did to you , understand this today.
Someone lied to you.
Someone disappointed you.
Someone betrayed your trust.
And suddenly, you began to question everything you once believed.
But please, separate God from people.
The church is filled with human beings, and human beings can fail—even those who preach, sing, lead, pray, or carry titles.
A person's hypocrisy does not make God's truth a lie.
Don't allow the bad behaviour of one person to make you abandon the One you were seeking before you met that person.
If someone in church hurts you, heal.
If someone deceives you, learn.
If someone disappoints you, create boundaries where necessary.
But don't let another person's failure determine the direction of your life.
And here is the fact:
You don't throw away your destination because the person who gave you directions got lost.
Keep your faith, but also keep your discernment.
Love people, but don't worship people.
Listen to leaders, but don't surrender your ability to think.
And when someone does wrong, don't be afraid to acknowledge it simply because the person is in church.
Uprightness means knowing what is wrong without allowing someone else's wrong to make you become wrong too.
So if you have been hurt by the church, I am not telling you to pretend it never happened.
I am telling you:
Heal without losing your faith.
Learn without becoming bitter.
Forgive without abandoning wisdom.
And follow God without making imperfect human beings your standard.
Because people may disappoint you....
but don't let their mistakes become the reason you lose your way.
