Psalm 18:32

"the God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless."

//War is an unpleasant necessity in some cases. Neither Christians of the modern era, nor believers of the Old Testament, are required to be pacifists. On the contrary, David credits God with preparing him for battle.

When David was just a youth, the Lord enabled him to slay a lion and a bear as David protected his flock. And the Lord gave him victory over the giant Goliath (1 Samuel 17:34–37, 45–47). When Saul looked for someone to play soothing music, one of his servants recommended David. He was described as skillful in playing the lyre as well as being a brave man of war with whom the Lord was present (1 Samuel 16:14–18). Further, in Psalm 18:32, David credits God with making his "way," including his military path, flawless.//

》》The Lord has also prepared Christians for warfare against the Devil and his minions, which is where our true battles lie (Ephesians 6:12). Ephesians 6:10–18 describes the spiritual armor and valuable resource He has provided. If we avail ourselves of this armor and prayer, we will "be able to stand against the schemes of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11).《《

🙏 🙏 Oh Lord, You are the one true God. How can I praise and thank You enough? You wrap me in power, filling and encircling me with strength. You make my way safe and perfect, my pathway straight. You protect me wherever I go, removing obstacles in my way. You’ve trained me with the weapons of warfare-worship (my arms can bend even the strongest bow); now I’ll descend into battle with power to chase and conquer my foes. Lord, you have given me your shield to protect me. You stoop down to lift me up. You support me with your right hand. It is your help and gentleness that has made me great. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

"give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

//In this verse Paul exhorts his readers to give thanks in all circumstances. He adds that it is God's will to do so. Regardless how difficult our circumstances may be, we can find reasons to thank God. We can be thankful that all things work together for our good if we belong to HIm (Romans 8:28). We can be thankful that God's grace is sufficient to sustain us in every circumstance (2 Corinthians 12:9). We can be thankful that nothing can separate us from God's love (Romans 8:37–39). We can be thankful that God even supports us spiritually when trials produce difficulty in our prayer life (Romans 8:26). Rough circumstances also prove the genuineness of our faith (1 Peter 1:6–7).

Paul previously wrote to "Rejoice always" (1 Thessalonians 5:16). Joy is not the same thing as happiness. In a similar way, Scripture notes the difference between giving thanks "for" our circumstances, as opposed to giving thanks "in" our circumstances. For example, a car wreck may not find us giving thanks for a twisted fender and smashed radiator, but we can give thanks that we have insurance and a God who is always present with us. We may not thank God for an illness, but we can be thankful for medicines and doctors. Persecution is not something we would be thankful for, but we can be thankful that God can use that hardship for our eternal benefit.//

》》God knows that thanksgiving and praise are no bedfellows to unforgiveness or fear. He knows that gratitude and rejoicing is no companion of dissatisfaction or murmuring, and so we are encouraged to give thanks in everything, even those difficult, daily circumstances, knowing that His grace is sufficient for those that are in Christ Jesus.

As His children, we have benefits and glories beyond our understanding. Let us glorify God by giving thanks in everything, for this is the will of God, for all who are in Christ Jesus.《《

Matthew 22:37

"And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

//The lawyer who asked Jesus which is the primary commandment in the law may have been trying to trip Jesus up. He certainly doesn't realize he is asking the Son of God the question he might very well have chosen to ask God the Father, given the chance. It's a powerful moment, especially for these men who had made understanding and teaching the law their entire life's work.

For us, and for the exact same reason, Jesus' answer carries an enormous opportunity. This answer is not merely the wise response of a human interpreter. His is not just another opinion among the debates of religious leaders. Jesus' answer reveals the heart of God in giving the Law of Moses to His people Israel.

Jesus doesn't hesitate to answer this question, either. He doesn't respond with a counter-question or tell a parable or ask for object to use for illustration. Jesus answers directly from Deuteronomy 6:5. The great and first commandment in all of Scripture is to love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind.//

》》God wants His people first and above all to love Him with every part of their being. The heart and soul and mind may describe the centers of emotion, action, and thought. The point of the command is not to separate them, though, but to join them together with every aspect of a person fully committed to loving God. A pure, uninterrupted commitment to God and His will is the very basis of a proper relationship with Him.《《

🙏 🙏 Loving Father thank You for loving me when I was dead in my sins and for bringing me into Your family, simply because I trusted the Lord Jesus as Saviour – Lord I want to love you with every part of my being. May I live as You would choose and love You with all my heart and soul and strength and mind, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN. 🙏 🙏
