TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING YOUR POSITION IN CHRIST

BIBLE TEXT: 2COR. 5: 17 -21

GOLDEN VERSE: "Now then we are ambassadors for Chris't, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God" -2 Cor. 5:20.

BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR: Esther 1-5

EXPOSITORY
In Christ Jesus you become an entirely new creature of God with everything of your past nature gone and deleted forever; you are have your relationship settled with God and with others as you carry the message of the gospel to others; you become an messenger of God and you stand right before God (as if you never did anything wrong).

An ambassador represents his home country in another country where he is sent to serve and there he enjoys the privileges of his home president in the country where he is serving.

You are Christ ambassador, a messenger of God, serving on earth, representing the God of heaven as His messenger.

You are always a foreigner in the country you are serving as an ambassador.

Because you are of Christ you do not conform to the culture of the world (Rom.12:2).

You live the heavenly culture while on earth as a pilgrim, in holiness and righteousness (Eph 4: 24).

Your home country culture is that you be in charge of the affairs, have dominion and rule in your country of resident bringing the culture of your kingdom from heaven to earth.

The kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost (Ro 14: 17) You bring the light of God's kingdom and destroy the works of the devil because you have the power of your kingdom (1 Jn 3:8).

Understanding who you are in Christ is important in doing exploit in His Kingdom.

You are created by God in His own image and likeness making you a partaker of Him.

You are His extension on earth, His handiwork and His investment.

You are a partaker of His Kingdom, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.

However, your position is Christ is tied to your understanding of what God has done for you by Christ sacrificial death and also on your level of growth in Him.

Failure to grow into maturity will cause you not to enjoy your inheritance, because you lack understanding of the supernatural provisions available to you as a son and no more a slave.

A slave doesn't have access to inheritance, only sons have access to inheritance.

For some we would have to grow from being a child to a son, so as to be able to handle some responsibilities in the kingdom (Gal. 4:1-4).

In your role as an ambassador you promote the affairs of heaven on earth.

Your position starts with your relationship as a new creature, a son-ship status given at your new birth.

Your state of enmity with God ends and you become His messenger standing in His righteousness to the nations.

PRAYER: Father, grant me the grace to perfectly understand my position in You. Amen.

TOPIC: THE ONE ΑΝΟΙΝTED BY GOD

BIBLE TEXT: ISAIAH 61:1-4

MEMORY VERSE: Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. NKJV

INTRODUCTION: Jesus is the Christ 'Anointed' of God.

The anointing of God in a person's life is the Holy Spirit presence and power of God in the life of a person.

The anointing of God is a seal of God upon His children, a precious gift to the saved (born again) saints of God.

OBJECTIVES: The saved person should know that he has God's anointing upon his life to enable him please God and witness Christ with power

The unsaved person does not have the presence and power of God in his life, but can repent and choose to surrender his life unto God and receive the salvation, which is by grace found only in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

MAIN TRUTH: God's anointing is available to every child of God to enable him to walk a fulfilled and purposeful life that glorifies the kingdom of God.

OBSERVATION OF TEXT: Prophet Isaiah prophetic word was of the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Saying the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him, Jesus, because He is the Anointed One.

This anointing was for the preaching of good tidings to the poor (poor in spirit, the spiritually bankrupt), to heal broken hearts, the sick bodies of people; to proclaim liberty, freedom to the captives; to open prison doors and set those bound free.

The Spirit anointing was also to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of God's vengeance.

Among others the anointing is for the comfort and console of those who are mourning, giving them beauty for their ashes, oil of joy and the spirit of praise for heaviness of hearts.

These then will become trees of righteousness, to glorify God, rebuild ruined cities, through the raising up of former desolation of many generations.

INTERPRETATION: God's presence and power in the Christian's life enables him to walk the supernatural life of God and do the supernatural by the Holy Spirit.

God anointed Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit and power, and He went about doing good and healing the sick (Lk 4: 18-19; Acts 10:38).

By the anointing, Apostle Peter preached, and 3000 souls were saved in one day, and his shadow became a healing, and deliverance means for many (Acts 2:41; 5: 12-15).

Apostle Paul was so anointed that aprons and handkerchief from his body healed many and sent demons away (Acts 19: 11, 12).

You can also be anointed:

1. Have a genuine salvation in Christ Jesus (Jn 3: 3-7)

2. Decide to consecrate your life unto God in holiness, for sin will rob you of God's presence and power.
Remember prophet Samson who was toiling with God's anointing upon his life and Delilah got him shaved and his eyes plucked out and he became a clown instead (Jug 16: 17-21)

3. Live humbly before man and God. God hates a prideful person but gives grace to the humble. Jesus is our highest level of humility (Phil 2:9-11); Moses was the meekest man on earth after Jesus (Num 12:3).

4. Listen and hear from God every day to keep your anointing fresh, the anointing of yesterday will not help you much for today's assignment (Ecc 10: 1; 2 Sam 23: 1-2; Ps 89: 20-29)

5. The journey to successful anointing involves a perseverance through difficulties and challenging times, waiting on God with prayers and fasting (Mt 17:21)

By the anointing you can break yokes and set captives free (Isa10:27).

Anointing gives supernatural strength and ability as with Samson who could lift a city gate on his shoulder and kill 1000 men with an ass jaw, Judges 15: 15; 16:3).

The anointing of the Holy Spirit endues one with supernatural wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel and might (Isa 11: 2) and turns your wilderness life into a fruitful field and forest. making you fruitful and blesses (Is 32: 15).

The anointing lifts persons from grief to joy, peace and righteousness in the Holy Ghost.

But you must stay connect to the source of life, Jesus Christ for His daily presence and power.

Anointing level can be increase as you stay in fellowship and the word, Elisha asked double portion.

You can ask anointing without measure from the source, (Jn 3:34).

QUESTIONS: What does anointing mean?

Who is the baptizer in the Holy Spirit? Mt 3: 11; Luke 24:49.

CONCLUSION: God's anointing is His presence, power and Holy Ghost upon a Christian's life.

APPLICATION: I have God's anointing upon my life as a child of God.

PRAYER: Pray to receive God's anointing today with increasing measures. Lk 11: 13

TOPIC:YOU ARE BORN OF GOD

BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 1: 12 -13

GOLDEN VERSE: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God" - John 1:12-13.

BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR:- Nehemiah 8-10

EXPOSITORY
To be born spiritually, it brought about by God, and not by man.

It involves believe and receiving God's gift of His Son, Jesus Christ.

The ministry of our Lord Jesus is the ministry of life through the Spirit.

So when we are talking about being born of God, it is a spiritual birth from God, not a physical birth that depends on human nature. Verse 12 contains important words for those who receive Christ.

He gave, to those who opened their life to Him; the free gift of redemption. Salvation is by grace alone.

It is a free gift and never a human achievement.

One of the proofs that we are born of God is that you receive the ability to resist sin (1 John 3:8-9).

Sin no longer has the forceful control over your lives like it did before you accepted Jesus as the Lord of your lives.

The power and control of sin was broken and shattered on the Cross.

"Children of God" means we become partakers of the Divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).

When you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and make Him the Lord of your lives you are born again and become a member of God's family.

The gift, the privilege and the birth are for those who receive Jesus Christ into their lives.

This is a supernatural spiritual birth.

No person can earn it and no person deserves it.

It is not of blood, as with physical birth, it is a spiritual birth.

It is not by the will of the flesh, it is only by we being born of the Spirit and accepting what Jesus did on the Cross.

Every man or woman is first born of its natural physical parents, however to become a child of God has to give you a supernatural birth by His Holy Spirit when you accept His invitation to whosoever.

This is a process called rebirth or regeneration or born again.

Jesus said to Nicodemus, you must be born again.

John 3:6-7 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' NKJV

Be assured, and comforted, that God wants you to know Him, He wants you to receive Christ, be spiritually born and be a part of His family.

The invitation to be born again is still open. Jesus said: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.

If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me" (Revelation 3:20).

Jesus gave His life for us so that we could have His life in us and be His children.

PRAYER: Oh Lord, help me receive your free gift of sonship available in your son Jesus Christ today. Amen.

GOLDEN VERSE: "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ"-
1 Corinthians 11:1

BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR Nehemiah 4-7

EXPOSITORY
The title of a song says "I want to be like Jesus..."

What are those things you have or do that is different from Christ's ways, and what are those things that make you look like or not look like Him?

Christ's standard has not changed, it remained the same.

It may look as if no one can be like Jesus, in His perfection, holy living and righteousness but the truth is; the only way we can be with Him in eternity is to be like Him now. Is it possible?

Yes, how can you then be like Him?

Jesus said "the things I do, more will you do.

God desires that we be like HIM; I know He will be delighted if you are like Him and follow the pattern of life which He has charted for you to follow.

The disciples were first called Christians ie Christ-like because of how they lived (Acts 11:26).

What are these qualities that make one to be like Jesus?

These include- Humility, forgiveness, love, obedience to the father, compassionate, gentleness, intercessor, not easily angered, sacrificial, passionate about kingdom business and so on.

Paul affirmed that imitating Him is tantamount to imitating Christ because he received a complete life of Christ and has learnt overtime how to transmit this life to others.

How easy is it for someone to tell another to follow his example?

Can you be imitated as a follower of Christ?

You become like Him as you look unto Him and follow in His foot steps.

1 John 3:2 we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. NKJV

1 Peter 2:21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: NKJV How are you holding on to all the teachings you have received from God's word?

Paul further explained the propriety in worship giving the hierarchy of spiritual leadership-the head of every man is Christ, the head of the woman is the man and the head of Christ is God.

Imbibing the character of Jesus entails having and developing a healthy relationship with Him.

You cannot learn about Jesus without first knowing Him, a constant fellowship builds you to the standard of God as co-heirs with Christ.

You are called to follow and imitate Christ in those you are following Him 1 Cor 11: 2; Eph 5: 1-2).

You are to let Christ live in you, as you live the Crucified life of Christ here on earth by faith (Gal 2: 20).

So talk like Jesus, walk like Jesus and do everything like Jesus.

PRAYER: O Lord, help me to be like You and remain steadfast in You forever in Jesus's Christ Name. Amen.

BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 10: 17-20

GOLDEN VERSE: "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you" - Luke 10:19.

BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR: Nehemiah 1-3

EXPOSITORY
Jesus sent 70 men to preach the gospel and they returned rejoicing because of their success.

Jesus gave them power and authority to overcome all the powers of Satan, the arch-enemy of true believers in Christ Jesus.

God has all power, He is Omnipotent and Jesus after His resurrection declared His power and authority.

Matt 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. NKJV

One of our basic privilege as the Children of the kingdom is the access to God's power. Power is activated in your lives by regeneration (born again) and the filling with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." NKJV

The power of the Holy Spirit separate the Christians from others because you have the ability to command result by the reason of that which God has invested in you (Power).

This power is to witness Jesus as the Christ to the end of the earth and make disciples of nations

Power is God's investment in His children so as to enable them to do exploit (Daniel 11:32b, John 1:12).

We are in a world full of challenges, oppressions and spiritual wickedness but what gives the believers strength and assurance amidst all these things is that you have power through by the Holy Spirit.

Power is given by God to His children.

It's not what we source for from any other source. The Golden scripture stated it emphatically that "I give you power".

Do you need to enjoy the fullness of God in your adventure in this world, what you need is POWER.

The great news is that even principalities subject themselves to this power.

This is because Jesus Christ is the head of all principalities, and He has given us the power, so by this reason, we are head of all principalities (Col. 2:10).

The signs that follows those that believe according to Mark 16:17 signifies what power can do.

To this extent, the enemy may fashion weapon but the power we carry would not allow it to proper.

Power makes you see principalities as nothing because He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world.

Our Lord Jesus in His sojourn on earth fully demonstrated power by healing the sick, casting out demons, (Acts. 10:38).

You can walk and work in the same power of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive this power of the Holy Spirit to be your faithful witness today in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen

TOPIC: GAINING MASTERY

BIBLE TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 2: 1-5

GOLDEN VERSE: "And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully" - 2 Timothy 2:5

BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR Ezra 5-7

EXPOSITORY
Literally, mastery can be defined as the possession and display of great skills or technique, the believer is a witness and is to be faithful to teach others.

The solider obey the rule and does not get involved with civilians, an athlete obeys the rule to win the crown and a farmer works hard to partake of the firstfruits of his harvest.

God demands faithfulness from His labourers and the work done must be according to God's laws and commands, by the believer walking with God in and purpose. knowledge of His Son, Jesus Christ, working in wisdom and understanding God's will and purpose.

Eph 1:17-18 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, NKJV

On this point, we would need to differentiate between a baby, which scripture refers to as unskillful, and adults which are skillful and has ability to discern good from evil; we would see that the key difference between both is the mastery they have gained.

Heb 5:13-14 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. NKJV

Your understanding of the word of God, and how it is able to build you to the extent of coming into the full expression of that knowledge brings you to the point of mastery.

Studying alone does not bring mastery if it is not portrayed or expressed just as a man is not crowned except he strives lawfully. Thus Hebrews 5 verse 14 stated that "who by reason of use", not just as it is known, but as it was put to practice.

There are spiritual engagements that guarantees masteries.

We do not entangle ourselves with the things of the world, but we set our affection on things that are above not on things on earth (Col. 3:1-2).

If we check the journeys of the patriarch of faith as encapsulated in Hebrew chapter 11, we would recognize that a key factor on gaining mastery is faith, Conclusively, in God's kingdom, a man who would gain mastery must humble himself in order for God to fulfil His intentions on such person.

This will make him to access the depth in God and the level of knowledge to gain mastery; because no one kriows as he ought to know except in Christ Jesus (1 Cor. 8:2).

This is indeed a key to mastery and this should be the key driver of your life.

PRAYER: Father, launch me into the deep of knowledge that I can gain more in You through Christ Jesus Name. Amen

TOPIC: GAINING SPIRITUAL STATURE - 2

BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 2: 21 - 30, 40

GOLDEN VERSE: "And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him" - Luke 2:40

BIBLE READING IN ONE YEAR: Ezra 1-4

EXPOSITORY
A key factor every believer must take note of is that it is not wrong to start small (as a baby), but it is very wrong to remain small.

God is so much interested in our growth, but the truth is that growth is a matter of choice not chance. It takes deliberate effort of every believer in order to grow.

No one grows in this kingdom without subjecting himself to process.

Growth is tied to processes. A man who is not ready to follow process is a man who is not ready to grow.

At a time, we became Christians and we are tagged unskillful because we still take milk but as times goes on, and as we subject ourselves to this process, we graduate to eating meat.

The question then should be how do we grow, and how do we gain spiritual stature? In order for this to be done, we must understand the importance of

1. The Word of God: a man who would grow and develop stature must be a student of the word of God. He must constantly and consistently meditate and do the word of God. Our growth is tied to the knowledge of God; we should not just know, but consumed, act-out, and let the word formed the pattern of our living. If we must grow, we must commit ourselves to God and to the word of His Grace. The word will keep you away from sin, and prosper and bless you. This is a great key to gaining stature in Christ (Acts. 20:32).

2. Prayer: another key to stay connected to Jesus; during His earthly ministry, He demonstrated the connectivity embedded in prayer. Even though He is the Lord, He did not cease to pray and by this, He sustained intimacy with the Father. (Lk 6: 12; John 17)

3. The leading of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit (Lk 4: 1), so you too must yield to His leading in all things.

4. Fellowship with the brethren, you need the warmth of other believers to grow spiritually (Heb 10:25)

5. Your life of witnessing. Go out and tell someone about Jesus the Saviour, share the goodnews of God's love for mankind (Jn 3: 16; Acts 1:8).

6. Determine to obey the word of God daily, practice doing the word (James 1: 22-25).

These keys can be summed up to the concept of fellowship and intimacy.

Intimacy allows us to maintain a great relationship with Christ thereby gaining stature in Him.

This brings us to the knowledge of the spirit system because no one grows without the help of the spirit.

PRAYER: Father, continually build me up in the word, my prayer life for intimacy and submit to the leading of your Holy Spirit. Amen
