🖊️ *COMMENTARY*
Psychologists talk about the Law of the Group; that we associate with people the way we see ourselves and birds of the same feather, flock together. Have you ever wondered how gossips find other gossips? Negative people gravitate toward other negative people. Complainers find other complainers. Good people associate with good people, and the same with successful people. They find their type. Happy people hang around happy people. Eagles soar with other eagles.
Our Scripture is about Daniel possessing an excellent spirit. When you research the life of Daniel, you will find out that he associated himself with people of the same mind. His friends were Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. These men refused to eat the king's meat at a time. They also refused to bow down to King Nebuchadnezar's golden idol, even when it meant losing their lives. No wonder Daniel was an excellent man. Daniel associated with friends who were people of integrity, people who displayed great courage and were non-compromising.
Who is your friend? Your kind of friends could make or mar you, they could build or tear you down. If they are not encouraging or helping you to achieve your goal, they are not what you need. If they are not encouraging you to be closer to God, then you don't need them.
