HIGHLIGHTS FROM SINGLES RETREAT π
3 weeks after Singles Retreat and here we are. The pictures may not have captured the moment accurately, but a fun time was had π€. Was Singles Retreat just about the free, good food and break away from home, or was there more to it? Here are a few take-homes from the program.
1. Faith that works is faith that is put to use. The issue with Christianity today is that we are afraid to put into practice what we have known and believed over the years. So, yes, many have been exposed to the word, and a lot has been invested in their lives, yet nothing seems to be happening. This is simply because we lock our faith in a box and let it stay there. Yet, the Bible says faith without works is dead.
2. We looked at the people who exhibited great faith in the Bible, like the friends who carried their friend who was a l***r, broke through the ceiling, and put him right at the feet of Jesus. That was faith. They didn't have a guarantee that their efforts would pay off despite all their struggles and efforts, or the fact that they would have to pay the house owner for damaging the roof. Yet, they had a currency to receive this miracle - faith. Faith comes with confidence, confidence that because God said it, therefore it is.
3. Thirdly, to have faith, you must know God for yourself. Faith is not transmitted via Bluetooth or other wireless means. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Looking at the lives of the Sons of Sceva (Acts 19:13-16), we see that truly, faith in God and believing who He says He is, is the first step to godliness.
