SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: ABSOLUTE TRUST IN GOD.

TEXT: JEREMIAH 17:7-8.

7 But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him. Psa 2:12 Psa 34:8 Pro 16:20 Isa 30:18 [Psa 118:8] [Rom 9:33] [2Co 1:9]

8 He is like a tree planted by the waters that sends out its roots toward the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes, and its leaves are always green. It does not worry in a year of drought, nor does it cease to produce fruit. Psa 1:3 [Mat 7:24]

TOPIC: ABSOLUTE TRUST IN GOD.

MESSAGE:
The Psalmist eulogises that the one who delight in the law of the Lord is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in its season (Ps. 1:2-3). Jeremiah adjudges that happy is the man who trusts in the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water and does not fear heat or drought. Rather its leaves remain green and never cease to bear fruit. This implies that no matter the hardships, challenges and hostilities in this life, absolute trust in the Lord gives victory. Economic hardships, unemployment, insecurity and persecution are prevalent. Yet, those who trust in the Lord will prosper. But those who rely on human strength will wither.
In whom do you take confidence?
Help and support from friends and relations is good. But absolute trust in God is better. Do not give up!

REFLECTION:
God is dependable, so trust him completely!

PRAYER:
My Lord, I place my confidence in you. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: BEARING FRUITS.

TEXT: LUKE 13:6-9.

6 Then Jesus told them this parable: “A man had a fig tree that had been planted in his vineyard. He went to look for fruit on it but didn’t find any. [Jer 8:13]
7 So he told the gardener, ‘Look here! For three years I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this tree but I haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it waste the soil?’
8 But the gardener replied, ‘Sir, leave it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
9 Maybe next year it will bear fruit. If not, then cut it down.

TOPIC: BEARING FRUITS

MESSAGE:
A farmer rejoices when his farm produces bountifully. In the same way, God expects his children to be fruitful (cf. Mk. 3:7-8). From today's text, Jesus pointed out what would happen to a tree that occupies space within a valuable time and yet does not produce fruit. This illustration is a warning to the unrepentant that God would not tolerate any lack of productivity. The same warning applies to believers who are overly concerned with spiritual matters. Several people follow God for what they will gain from him, but never pay attention to what they can do for the Kingdom.
Have you been enjoying God's grace without bearing fruit?
To bear fruit, you must shun the counsel of the wicked and sinners, take delight in the word of God, cherish a life of prayer, and experience a fruitful and prosperous life.

REFLECTION:
Spend time with the Lord to bear fruit.

PRAYER:
Father, help me to be productive in Jesus' name. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: SHUN ENVY AND JEALOUSY.

TEXT: 1 PETER 2:1-3.

1 Therefore, rid yourselves of every kind of evil and deception, hypocrisy, jealousy, and every kind of slander.
Mat 18:3 Rom 6:4 1Co 14:20 Eph 4:23 Col 3:8 Heb 12:1 [Eph 4:22]

2 Like newborn babies, thirst for the pure milk of the word so that by it you may grow in your salvation.
[Mat 18:3] [Mat 19:14] [Mar 10:14] [Luk 18:16] [Rom 6:4] [1Co 3:2]

3 Surely you have tasted that the Lord is good! Psa 34:8

TOPIC: SHUN ENVY AND JEALOUSY.

MESSAGE:
Envy and jealousy are often associated with feelings of resentment Over Someone possessions else's and accomplishments. Peter urges Christians to eliminate these attitudes. Those who have been born again should crave spiritual milk and the word of God, so that they grow in faith and character and become like Christ. This will help them to overcome ,Rthe natural inclination of the man. Indeed, unregenerate once a believer has tasted the grace of God, sin loses its him. power Over Unfortunately, some so-called believers are unwilling and envious of others' progress. Are you envious and jealous of your brother because of and possessions his achievements? It is of no benefit. Envy and jealousy hamper unity and progress in the family, community, and church. To overcome envy and jealousy, always seek the spiritual nourishment and the well-being of others.

REFLECTION:
Are you jealous of someone?

PRAYER:
Lord, I repent of any attitude of envy and jealousy in my life today. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: CARRYING YOUR CROSS DAILY.

TEXT: LUKE 9:23-25.

23 Then he told all of them, “If anyone wants to come with me, he must deny himself, pick up his cross every day, and follow me continuously,
Mat 10:38 Mat 16:24 Mar 8:34 Luk 14:27
24 because whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
Mat 10:39 Mat 16:25 Mar 8:35 Luk 17:33 Joh 12:25
25 What profit will a person have if he gains the whole world, but destroys himself or is lost?
[Mat 16:26]

TOPIC: CARRYING YOUR CROSS DAILY.

MESSAGE:
In our reading, Jesus tells his disciples the cost of following him. The cost requires that a disciple:
(i) denies himself, renouncing personal control of his life,
(ii) takes up his cross, making a commitment that may lead to rejection and possibly death, and
(iii) follows Jesus, following the example of Jesus' teachings and lifestyle.
To the Romans, the cross was a sign of suffering, torture, and death. However, for Christians, it is a complete identity with Jesus and a willingness to lay down their lives for His cause. It is also a symbol of death to the world, self, and sin. Many Christians seem to avoid the cross, but Christ's demand remains unchanged. He requires you to take up your cross daily and follow him. Anything less is lip service and superficial Christianity. A true disciple must be ready to die!

REFLECTION:
It pays to follow Christ.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to carry my cross daily and follow you. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: LIVING TO PLEASE GOD.

TEXT: GALATIANS 1:10; COLOSSIANS 3:23-25.

GALATIANS 1:10.

10 Am I now trying to win the approval of people or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be the Messiah’s servant.
1Th 2:4 Jas 4:4 [Joh 15:19] [1Jn 2:15]

COLOSSIANS 3:23-25.

23 Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people.
24 You know that it is from the Lord that you will receive the inheritance as a reward. It is the Lord Messiah whom you are serving!
25 For the person who does what is wrong will be paid back for what he has done without favoritism.
[Deu 10:17] [2Ch 19:7] [Job 34:11] [Job 34:19] [Psa 62:12] [Act 10:34] [Rom 2:11] [Gal 2:6] [Eph 6:9] [1Pe 1:17]
TOPIC: LIVING TO PLEASE GOD.

MESSAGE:
Recipients of God's grace must always seek to please the Lord rather than men. In our first text, Paul responds to his critics, who claim that he teaches a gospel received from man, not from God, and that he seeks to please man rather than God. But Paul assured them that his gospel was authentic, having been received from Christ, whom he served wholeheartedly. In the second text, Paul treats the bondservants at Colossae with dignity and appeals to them to honour Christ in their hearts, in their work, and their behaviour, knowing that God rewards those who live to please Him.
Who do you please in your dealings?
Sadly, many have adulterated the gospel to please men, gain more members, and material gains. Remember, the day you accept Jesus, your allegiance changes to a bondservant of the Lord. Please him always.

REFLECTION:
You must live to please your Master

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to please you in all I do. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TEXT: JOHN 6:25-29.

25 When they had found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”

26 Jesus replied to them, “Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were completely satisfied.

27 Do not work for food that perishes but for food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set his seal on him.”
Mat 3:17 Mat 17:5 Mar 1:11 Mar 9:7 Luk 3:22 Luk 9:35 Joh 1:33 Joh 3:16 Joh 4:14 Joh 5:37 Joh 6:40 Joh 6:54 Joh 8:18 2Pe 1:17 [Joh 10:36] [Heb 13:9]

28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to perform God’s works?”

29 Jesus answered them, “This is God’s work: to believe in the one whom he has sent.”
1Jn 3:23 [Luk 11:28] [Phi 1:6] [1Th 1:3]

TOPIC: LIVING WITH ETERNITY IN VIEW.

MESSAGE:
Jesus came to restore man to his lost glory. This can only happen when one believes in him as Lord and Saviour. In our text, people sought Jesus for physical and material benefits. But he cautions them not to work for food that perishes but to work for eternal food that lasts. They must focus on the things that truly matter and are not transient. Those who accept Jesus as their Lord must not place their attention on perishables like food, money and position, but on what endures to eternal life. It is painful to see some Christians using religion to gain prestige, comfort, or even political votes while paying little or no attention to kingdom business. What are your priorities? Do not lose sight of eternity and focus on material gains, which are temporal. Work for things of eternal value!

REFLECTION:
Labour for what lasts!

PRAYER:
Jesus, help me to remain focused on things of eternal value. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: AVOID EVIL.

TEXT: ROMANS 12:19-21.

19 Do not take revenge, dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me. I will pay them back, declares the Lord.”
Deu 32:35 Mat 5:39 Luk 6:29 Heb 10:30 [Lev 19:18] [Pro 24:29]

20 But “if your enemy is hungry, feed him. For if he is thirsty, give him a drink. If you do this, you will pile burning coals on his head.”
Pro 25:21 Mat 5:44 [Luk 6:27]

21 Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.

TOPIC: AVOID EVIL.

MESSAGE:
The way to eternity does not permit evil. The recipient of God's grace has been translated from a kingdom where evil is prevalent. Now, he must guard against evil as he journeys to heaven. Believers face hostility and persecution daily on account of their faith in Christ. In our text, Paul counsels Christians not to seek vengeance or allow evil to overcome them; instead, they are to overcome evil with good. They can achieve this by treating their enemies with kindness. Has someone mistreated you so that you think revenge is ideal? Remember, Jesus did not mete out evil on those who crucified him; rather, he prayed for them. Besides, he does not condemn you for your sin but saves and ushers you into his kingdom. Avoiding evil is not a sign of weakness. Imitate Jesus by doing good.

REFLECTION:
Paying evil with evil hurts; avoid it.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to respond with kind actions to those who hurt me. Amen.

SUNDAY 17TH MAY, 2026.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: SHUN LEGALISM.

TEXT: ROMANS 3:27-30.

27. Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith.
28. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
29. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,
30. since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.

TOPIC: SHUN LEGALISM.

MESSAGE:
Eternal life is not earned by observing the law. It is only by faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross that He satisfied God's demand for salvation. No human effort, no matter how lofty, can be added to what Jesus has accomplished. There is no work that man can do for God that qualifies him to enter heaven. It is disheartening to see people boast about their involvement in church activities and their adherence to rules and regulations, as if that is what defines an honest Christian. Have you been relying on performances of specific duties, thinking they will make you acceptable to God? Be reminded that your good deeds will not make you right with God. Turn to Jesus and have faith in Him. He is the only way to eternal life.

REFLECTION:
Legalism cannot earn you eternal life.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, help me to shun legalism. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: TOTAL SURRENDER.

TEXT: ROMANS 12:1-2.

1 I therefore urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices that are holy and pleasing to God, for this is the reasonable way for you to worship.
Rom 6:13 Rom 6:16 1Pe 2:5 [Rev 1:6]

2 Do not be conformed to this world, but continuously be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God’s will is—what is proper, pleasing, and perfect.
Eph 5:17 1Th 4:3 1Jn 2:15

TOPIC: TOTAL SURRENDER.

MESSAGE:
God has poured out His grace, undeserved love, mercy, and forgiveness to us through Christ. This demands a response far beyond words. We must surrender ourselves fully to Him by placing our entire lives - thoughts, desires, ambitions, and bodies - on the alter as living sacrifices. This is not a one-time event, but a daily choice to yield to God's will over our own. This kind of surrendering is not motivated by fear or duty, but by gratitude because grace has found us, transformed and enabled us to eschew the world's pattern (self-centeredness, pride, and conformity). In a world that pushes self-will; divine grace calls you to do God's will. How do you live your daily life as a believer? You are invited into a transformation, a renewal of mind that shapes how you live, think, and love. Cherish it!

REFLECTION:
Total surrender is not weakness, it is worship.

PRAYER:
Father, I offer my life to you today as a living sacrifice. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: ENGAGING IN MISSIONS.

TEXT: ROMANS 10:13-15.

13. for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
15. And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

TOPIC: ENGAGING IN MISSIONS.

MESSAGE:
Anyone who has tasted the Lord's goodness will not hesitate to reach out to others with the gospel of Christ. He takes the command of Jesus to "Go" seriously. In our text, Paul advocates for the spread of the gospel. People will call on Jesus to save them only if they believe he can do so. Believing in Christ comes with knowledge about him. One hears about Christ only when someone proclaims the saving message. The message about Christ will not be proclaimed unless God sends someone to do so. Every believer is obliged to preach the gospel.
Have you ever talked to your relatives and friends who are wallowing in sin about Jesus?
Please do not assume they will hear the good news that liberates elsewhere. Be bold and engage in missions to reach individuals, groups, or nations that are in dire need of salvation.

REFLECTION:
Share the gospel with someone today

PRAYER:
Father, help me to always tell of your goodness to others. Amen.

SUB-THEME: RESPONSE TO GRACE.

TOPIC: EXTENDING GRACE TO OTHERS.

TEXT: MATHEW 18:23-34.

23 “That is why the kingdom from heaven may be compared to a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
24 When he had begun to settle the accounts, a person who owed him 10,000 talents was brought to him.
25 Because he couldn’t pay, his master ordered him, his wife, his children, and everything that he owned to be sold so that payment could be made. Mat 5:25
26 Then the servant fell down and bowed low before him, saying, ‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you everything!’
27 The master of that servant had compassion and released him, canceling his debt.
28 “But when that servant went away, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him, seized him by the throat, and said, ‘Pay what you owe!’
29 Then his fellow servant fell down and began begging him, ‘Be patient with me and I will repay you!’
30 But he refused and had him thrown into prison until he could repay the debt.
31 “When his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were very disturbed and went and reported to their master everything that had occurred.
32 Then his master sent for him and told him, ‘You evil servant! I canceled that entire debt for you because you begged me.
33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’
34 In anger his master handed him over to the jailers until he could repay the entire debt.

TOPIC: EXTENDING GRACE TO OTHERS.

MESSAGE:
In our passage, Jesus tells a story of a king who was gracious to his debtor and cancelled his enormous debt. However, the forgiven debtor acted in a contrary manner. He exerted on his debtor and had him jailed till he paid him. What arrant wickedness! Christians are no Many different from the forgiven debtor. They are not gracious in dealing with others. They insist on taking their pound of flesh when wronged. Some have dragged
