TEXT: COLOSSIANS 2:1-5
TOPIC: PURSUING GOD'S PLAN

COLOSSIANS 2:1-5 (NIV)

1:I want you to know how much I am struggling for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally.

2:My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ,

3:in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

4:I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.

5:For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.

PURSUING GOD'S PLAN

Today, many people including Christians, are pursuing one goal or the other. Some in their Pursuit are pursuing mundane things, and some have no aim or goal that they desire to pursue.

But this was not the life of Paul. Apostle Paul had a heart to pursue God's plan, to achieve a desired goal in the life of the church at Laodicea.

As Christians, part of our Pursuit in life should to make sure we encourage others, not to discourage people, to help people and unite the church not to be a source of disunity in the church and homes and also to help people to have an understanding of the person of Jesus, who is the possession of wisdom and knowledge.

QUESTION:
What is your pursuit in life? Are you making an effort to encourage, unite or help others to know Jesus Christ?

PRAYER:
Lord, help me and give me grace to pursue things that are of eternal value, like encouraging, uniting and helping people to have the knowledge of Jesus Christ, in Jesus' name. Amen.

This is Paul and Silas... The Bible says they sang praises to God after being thrown in prison.

This is the type of joy Paul spoke about... it's not about everything being "perfect" or "easy".. but the ability to have peace during trials that would crush most people.

When you are close to God and filled with His Spirit.. you can have joy no matter what is happening around you.. even if you were unjustly thrown in prison.

So whatever Paul and Silas had that allowed them to possess this type of Joy.. THAT is the key to life.

P.S. When God saw their ability to praise even in prison... He shook open those gates and set them free.

This is exactly what Christ did to you and me.
Setting the vulnerability of man free from the grib of Satan.
Hallelujah 🙏

THE DANGERS OF STRONG DRINK

Hymn - BH 323: So Let Our Lips and Lives Express

RBT: Mark 1-3

Memory Verse: Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end, it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. Proverbs 23:31-32, NIV

Text: Proverbs 23:29-35

Proverbs 23:29-35 NIV
[29] Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?

[30] Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.

[31] Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly!

[32] In the end, it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.

[33] Your eyes will see strange sights, and your mind will imagine confusing things.

[34] You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging.

[35] “They hit me,” you will say, “but I’m not hurt! They beat me, but I don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?”
