Report on the All African Service Project – Dogon Dutse Ward

Location: Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dogon Duste

On 15 August 2026, Dogon Duste Ward participated in the All African Service Project, alongside countless members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across Africa.

As part of the project, members of Dogon Duste Ward visited the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Dogon Duste to carry out environmental sanitation activities.

Members worked together to w**d the surroundings, sweep the premises, gather and pack the w**ds, and dispose of the waste appropriately. Their efforts left the environment significantly cleaner and neater than it was upon arrival.

At the conclusion of the project, a representative of the Director expressed appreciation to the Church and its members for the thoughtful gesture. He commended the members for their diligence and expressed surprise that the service was offered freely. He also expressed his intention to visit the Church in the near future.

Although the members were tired after the day's work, they left feeling fulfilled, happy, and grateful for the opportunity to serve their community.

The project was a meaningful demonstration of the spirit of service and the positive impact that can be achieved when people come together to make a difference in their community.

"Today on SCRIPTURES"

When the Lord’s servants speak or write under the influence of the Holy Ghost, their words become scripture (see D&C 68:4). From the beginning, the Lord has commanded His prophets to keep a record of His revelations and His dealings with His children. He said: “I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written” (2 Nephi 29:11).

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints accepts four books as scripture: the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. These books are called the standard works of the Church. The inspired words of our living prophets are also accepted as scripture.

For many years, Church leaders have urged members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to not only read their scriptures, but to study them, to be familiar with them, to be able to testify of them.

In October of 1979 President Howard W. Hunter provided the following suggestions:

* Read carefully to understand the scriptures.

* Study every day.

* Set a regular time every day when you will study.

* Study in a place where you can concentrate without distractions or interruptions.

* Study for a period of time rather than reading a certain amount of chapters or pages: sixty minutes is ideal, thirty minutes is a great accomplishment, yet fifteen minutes can be meaningful also.

* Have a study plan.

The Church has also provided many study aids for those who wish to make use of them. "The Guide to the Scriptures" is one such. If you are not terribly familiar with it, you might want to check it out.
