DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: SATURDAY, 15TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: THE AUTHORITY OF PRAYING IN JESUS’ NAME

SCRIPTURE: John 14:13–14 – “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
One of the greatest privileges given to every believer is the authority to pray in the name of Jesus. His name is not merely a phrase we use to end our prayers; it is the divine authority by which we approach the Father. Because of Christ’s finished work on the cross, we no longer come before God as strangers but as His redeemed children. The name of Jesus gives us confidence to enter God’s presence with boldness, knowing that we are accepted through Him.

When Jesus instructed His disciples to pray in His name, He was teaching them to pray according to His character, His will, and His authority. To pray in the name of Jesus is to align our hearts with His purposes and to seek the Father’s glory above our own desires. Such prayers are not self-centered but Christ-centered, reflecting complete dependence upon Him.

The name of Jesus carries unmatched power. At His name the sick were healed, demons fled, the dead were raised, and lives were transformed. The apostles performed mighty miracles, not because of their own ability, but through faith in the name of Jesus. Peter boldly declared to the lame man at the Beautiful Gate, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk,” and immediately the man was healed. The authority was never in Peter—it was in the name of Jesus.

As believers today, we have that same privilege. While God answers prayer according to His perfect will, He invites us to pray with confidence, believing that the name of Jesus is above every challenge, every fear, every sickness, and every circumstance. No problem is too great for the Lord who reigns over heaven and earth.

Today, let your prayers be filled with confidence, not because of your own righteousness or strength, but because of the authority you have in Christ. Approach God’s throne with faith, surrender your requests to His will, and trust Him to work in ways that will bring glory to His name. When we pray in the name of Jesus with sincere hearts and unwavering faith, we honor the One through whom all blessings flow.

REFLECTION
* Do I truly understand the authority I have when I pray in the name of Jesus?
* Are my prayers bringing glory to Christ or merely seeking my own desires?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me access to Your presence through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Teach me to pray according to your will and to exercise the authority You have entrusted to me with humility and faith. Let every prayer I offer glorify Your name and accomplish Your purpose in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION STEP
Read John 14:12–14 and meditate on what it means to pray in the name of Jesus. As you pray today, consciously submit every request to His will and trust His authority over every situation.

DAILY DECLARATION
I have bold access to the Father through Jesus Christ. I pray in His name with faith and confidence, knowing that He hears me and works all things according to His perfect will.

WORD FOR TODAY
The authority of the believer in prayer is found in the mighty name of Jesus.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: FRIDAY, 14TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: THE REWARD OF DILIGENT SEEKING

SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 11:6 – “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
God delights in those who seek Him sincerely and consistently. Throughout Scripture, we see that men and women who pursued God with all their hearts experienced His presence, guidance, and power in extraordinary ways. Seeking God is not merely about asking Him for blessings; it is about desiring a deeper relationship with Him. When our greatest pursuit is God Himself, every other blessing finds its proper place.

The writer of Hebrews reminds us that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. This means our pursuit of God should be intentional, faithful, and wholehearted. A casual relationship with God produces little spiritual growth, but a life devoted to prayer, worship, the study of His Word, and obedience will bear lasting fruit. God honors those who make Him their highest priority.

Diligently seeking God also requires perseverance. There will be seasons when His voice seems quiet or when circumstances test our faith. During such times, we must continue drawing near to Him, knowing that He has promised never to leave nor forsake us. Every moment spent in God’s presence strengthens our faith, renews our minds, and transforms our character into the likeness of Christ.

Many people seek God’s hand but neglect His heart. They desire His provision without pursuing His presence. However, the greatest reward of seeking God is not merely answered prayers or material blessings—it is knowing Him more intimately. As we grow closer to Him, our desires become aligned with His will, our confidence in His promises increases, and our lives become powerful testimonies of His grace.

Today, determine to seek God above every distraction. Let Him be the first voice you listen to each morning and the last One you speak to before you rest. Build your life upon daily fellowship with Him, and trust that He will guide your steps, strengthen your faith, and supply every need according to His riches in glory. Those who seek the Lord wholeheartedly will never seek Him in vain.

REFLECTION
* Am I seeking God for who He is or only for what He can give me?
* What distractions do I need to remove to deepen my fellowship with Him?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, create in me a greater hunger for Your presence. Help me to seek You with all my heart and to delight in knowing You more each day. Remove every distraction that competes for my affection, and teach me to walk closely with You. May my life continually reflect Your glory as I pursue You above all else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION STEP
Set aside at least thirty uninterrupted minutes today for prayer, Bible reading, and quiet worship, giving God your full attention.

DAILY DECLARATION
I will seek the Lord with all my heart. He is my greatest treasure, my source of strength, and my everlasting reward. As I draw near to Him, He draws near to me.

WORD FOR TODAY
Those who diligently seek God will continually experience His presence, His guidance, and His reward.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: THURSDAY, 13TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: REMAINING FERVENT IN THE SPIRIT

SCRIPTURE: Romans 12:11 – “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
One of the greatest dangers in the Christian life is spiritual complacency. It often begins gradually through neglected prayer, inconsistent study of God’s Word, and distractions that slowly weaken our passion for God. A believer who was once full of zeal can become spiritually lukewarm if the fire on the altar of the heart is not continually maintained. That is why the Apostle Paul urged believers to remain “fervent in spirit,” serving the Lord with wholehearted devotion.

Spiritual fervency is more than emotional excitement. It is a deep, consistent passion for God that is sustained by daily fellowship with Him. It is reflected in a life that hungers for God’s presence, delights in His Word, remains faithful in prayer, and eagerly obeys His voice. A fervent believer is not controlled by circumstances but by a desire to please the Lord in every season of life.

The early Church is a beautiful example of spiritual fervency. They devoted themselves to prayer, the teaching of God’s Word, fellowship, and worship. Despite persecution and opposition, they refused to compromise their faith. Instead, they continued to seek God with greater passion, and the Holy Spirit empowered them to impact their generation. Their spiritual fire was preserved because they remained close to the Lord.

In the same way, we must guard our spiritual lives against anything that weakens our love for God. Sin, worldly distractions, unforgiveness, and spiritual laziness can gradually extinguish our zeal if they are left unchecked. However, as we consistently spend time in prayer, meditate on the Scriptures, worship sincerely, and obey the Holy Spirit, our spiritual fire is renewed day by day.

Today, examine your relationship with God. If you sense that your passion has grown cold, do not remain there. Return to the place of prayer and surrender. Ask the Holy Spirit to rekindle your love for Christ and restore your spiritual strength. As you remain fervent in spirit, your life will shine as a testimony of God’s grace, and you will become a channel through which His power and love touch others.

REFLECTION
* Is my passion for God increasing or gradually growing cold?
* What practical steps can I take to keep my spiritual fire burning?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me into a life of wholehearted devotion. Rekindle the fire of Your Spirit within me and remove every distraction that weakens my love for You. Help me to remain faithful in prayer, diligent in Your Word, and obedient to Your voice. Let my life continually reflect the passion and power of Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION STEP
Spend extra time today in prayer, worship, and reading God’s Word. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any area of your life that needs renewed commitment to God.

DAILY DECLARATION
I am fervent in spirit and fully devoted to the Lord. My passion for God grows stronger each day, and my life reflects His power, love, and holiness.

WORD FOR TODAY
A heart that burns for God becomes a light that shines for the world.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: WEDNESDAY, 12TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: FAITH THAT OVERCOMES IN PRAYER

SCRIPTURE: Mark 11:24 – “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Faith is the foundation of effective prayer. Without faith, prayer easily becomes a religious exercise rather than a living conversation with God. Jesus taught His disciples that when they pray, they must believe that God hears them and that He is able to answer according to His perfect will. Genuine faith does not rest upon feelings or circumstances; it rests upon the unchanging character and promises of God.

Throughout Scripture, men and women who experienced God’s mighty acts were people who dared to trust Him. Abraham believed God’s promise despite his old age. Hannah continued praying until God blessed her with Samuel. Blind Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus in faith until he received his sight. Their circumstances were different, but they shared one thing in common—they believed that nothing was impossible with God.

Faith does not deny the reality of difficulties. Instead, it declares that God is greater than every obstacle. There will be moments when answers seem delayed, doors appear closed, or situations seem impossible. During such times, faith chooses to stand on God’s Word rather than on visible evidence. It is confidence that God remains faithful even when we cannot yet see the outcome.

The enemy constantly seeks to fill our hearts with fear, doubt, and unbelief because he knows that faith connects us to God’s promises. Every time you pray, refuse to entertain doubt. Fill your heart with the Word of God, for “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The more you meditate on God’s promises, the stronger your confidence in Him will become.

Today, approach God with unwavering faith. Bring every burden before Him, believing that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think. Trust His power, rely on His wisdom, and rest in His perfect timing. As you continue to pray in faith, you will witness His hand at work in ways that bring glory to His name.

REFLECTION
* Am I praying with confidence in God’s promises or allowing doubt to weaken my faith?
* Which promise from God’s Word can I hold on to during this season?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, strengthen my faith and help me to trust You completely. Remove every trace of fear, doubt, and unbelief from my heart. Teach me to stand firmly upon Your Word and to pray with confidence, knowing that You are faithful to fulfill Your promises according to Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION STEP
Choose one promise from Scripture today and meditate on it. Declare it over your life and pray with confidence that God will fulfill His Word.

DAILY DECLARATION
I walk by faith and not by sight. My confidence is in God alone. As I pray in faith, I believe that He hears me, answers me, and works all things together for my good and His glory.

WORD FOR TODAY
Faith-filled prayer releases confidence in the God who never fails.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: TUESDAY , 11TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US PRAY

SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:26 – “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Prayer is one of the greatest privileges of every believer, yet there are times when we struggle to know what to pray or how to express the burdens of our hearts. Life’s challenges can leave us feeling weak, confused, and overwhelmed. In His mercy, God has not left us to face these moments alone. He has given us the Holy Spirit, our divine Helper, who strengthens us and intercedes for us according to the perfect will of God.

The Holy Spirit understands the mind of God and the deepest needs of our hearts. When our words are insufficient, He intercedes on our behalf. He guides our prayers beyond human understanding and aligns them with God’s eternal purposes. This gives us confidence that even when we cannot fully express ourselves, our heavenly Father understands every burden we carry.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is not limited to helping us in difficult moments. He also teaches us to pray effectively, reminds us of God’s promises, convicts us when our hearts are not right before God, and gives us spiritual discernment. As we spend time in God’s presence, He shapes our desires, strengthens our faith, and helps us pray with greater confidence and sincerity.

Many believers make the mistake of treating prayer as a one-way conversation. They present their requests and leave without taking time to listen. However, prayer is also a time of fellowship with God. As we become quiet before Him, the Holy Spirit speaks through His Word, brings peace to troubled hearts, gives wisdom for important decisions, and reveals the direction we should follow. A believer who learns to listen to the Holy Spirit will walk in greater confidence and spiritual maturity.

Today, invite the Holy Spirit to take complete control of your prayer life. Depend on Him daily, not only when you face difficulties but also in every decision and every season of life. As you yield to His leading, your prayers will become more effective, your relationship with God will grow deeper, and your life will increasingly reflect the character of Christ.

REFLECTION
* Do I rely on the Holy Spirit whenever I pray?
* Am I making time to listen to God’s voice as I pray?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit as my Helper. Teach me to pray according to Your will and to depend upon His guidance every day. Make me sensitive to His voice, strengthen my faith, and help me to walk in obedience to Your Word. Let my prayer life grow deeper and more fruitful for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION STEP
Spend at least fifteen minutes today in quiet prayer. After presenting your requests to God, remain silent for a few moments, meditating on His Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to minister to your heart.

DAILY DECLARATION
The Holy Spirit is my Helper. He guides my prayers, strengthens my faith, and leads me into God’s perfect will. I will walk daily in fellowship with Him.

WORD FOR TODAY
The Holy Spirit empowers every believer to pray with confidence and purpose.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: MONDAY, 10TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: PRAYING WITH PERSISTENCE

SCRIPTURE: Luke 18:1 – “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
One of the greatest challenges in the Christian life is remaining steadfast in prayer when answers seem delayed. It is easy to pray when faith is high and circumstances are favorable, but true spiritual maturity is revealed when we continue seeking God despite unanswered questions and prolonged waiting. Jesus understood this struggle, which is why He taught His disciples that they should always pray and never lose heart.

The parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18 reveals an important principle about prayer. Although the widow repeatedly approached an unjust judge for justice, she refused to give up until her request was granted. Jesus used this illustration not to compare God with an unjust judge, but to emphasize that if persistence can move an earthly judge, how much more will our loving Heavenly Father respond to His children who continually seek Him in faith.

There are times when God answers immediately, but there are also seasons when He allows us to wait. His delays are never without purpose. During those waiting seasons, God strengthens our faith, develops our patience, deepens our dependence on Him, and prepares us for the blessings He has already ordained. What may seem like silence is often God’s way of teaching us to trust Him more deeply.

The enemy wants believers to become discouraged and abandon the place of prayer. He whispers that nothing is changing and that God has forgotten His promises. However, God’s Word assures us that He is faithful, and He hears every sincere prayer. Not one prayer offered in faith is ever wasted. Even when we cannot see His hand at work, we can trust that He is working behind the scenes for our good and for His glory.

Today, make a fresh commitment not to give up in prayer. Continue standing on God’s promises, believing that His timing is perfect and His plans are always best. Let every delay strengthen your confidence rather than weaken it. The God who called you is faithful, and He will accomplish His purpose in your life.

REFLECTION
* Have I become discouraged because of delayed answers to prayer?
* What promise from God’s Word encourages me to keep trusting Him?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You because You are always faithful. Strengthen my heart to remain persistent in prayer and never lose hope. Help me to trust Your perfect timing even when I do not understand Your ways. Increase my faith and keep my eyes fixed on Your promises until I see their fulfillment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION STEP
Identify one prayer request you have stopped praying about. Bring it before God again today, believing that He is still at work.

DAILY DECLARATION
I will not grow weary in prayer. My faith is strong, my hope is alive, and I trust God’s perfect timing. He hears my prayers, and His promises will surely come to pass.

WORD FOR TODAY
Persistent prayer is the language of unwavering faith.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: SUNDAY, 9TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: PRAYING ACCORDING TO GOD’S WILL

SCRIPTURE: 1 John 5:14 – “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
One of the greatest sources of confidence in prayer is knowing that God hears every request that is offered according to His will. Prayer is not about persuading God to do what we want; it is about aligning our hearts with His perfect purpose. As we grow in our relationship with Him through His Word, our desires gradually become shaped by His desires.

God’s will is always wise, loving, and perfect. There are times when His answers come immediately, while at other times He asks us to wait because He is preparing us for something greater. Sometimes His answer is different from what we expected, yet His plans are always better than our own. A delayed answer is never evidence of God’s absence but often proof of His divine wisdom.

Jesus demonstrated perfect submission in the Garden of Gethsemane when He prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done.” Even in the face of suffering, He trusted the Father’s perfect plan. His example reminds us that true faith is expressed not only by asking but also by surrendering.

As you pray today, approach God with confidence, but also with humility. Present your requests honestly while trusting Him to answer according to His wisdom. When our prayers agree with God’s will, we can rest in the assurance that He is working all things together for our good and for His glory.

REFLECTION
* Are my prayers centered on my desires or on God’s purpose?
* Do I trust God even when His answers differ from my expectations?

PRAYER
Father, align my heart with Your will. Help me to trust Your wisdom above my own understanding and to rest confidently in every answer You give. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION STEP
Read one chapter of Scripture before praying today and allow God’s Word to shape your prayers.

DAILY DECLARATION
My heart is surrendered to God’s perfect will. I trust His wisdom, His timing, and His unfailing love.

WORD FOR TODAY
God’s perfect will always produces God’s perfect results.

07/08/2026

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: SATURDAY, 8TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: PRAYING WITHOUT CEASING

SCRIPTURE: 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Prayer is not simply an activity reserved for church services or difficult moments; it is a lifestyle that keeps the believer in constant fellowship with God. When the Apostle Paul instructed believers to “pray without ceasing,” he was encouraging them to maintain a heart continually connected to God. This does not mean spending every moment on your knees, but rather living every day with an awareness of His presence and depending on Him in every circumstance.

A consistent prayer life transforms the believer from the inside out. It renews the mind, strengthens faith, and equips us to overcome temptation. Through continual prayer, we receive divine wisdom for daily decisions, strength for life’s challenges, and peace that surpasses human understanding. The more time we spend with God, the more our hearts become aligned with His purposes.

Jesus Himself demonstrated this lifestyle. Although He was the Son of God, He regularly withdrew to lonely places to pray. Before making important decisions, before performing miracles, and even during times of great suffering, He sought fellowship with His Father. If Jesus considered prayer essential, how much more should we?

Many believers struggle with inconsistency in prayer because they wait until problems arise before seeking God. Yet God desires fellowship with us in every season—not only during trials but also in moments of joy, success, and peace. A healthy relationship with God grows through daily communication, just as every healthy relationship grows through consistent conversation.

Today, determine that prayer will become your first response rather than your last resort. Speak with God throughout your day. Thank Him for His blessings, seek His guidance before making decisions, and trust Him with every burden. As you cultivate this habit, you will discover greater intimacy with Him and experience His presence in every area of your life.

REFLECTION
* Is prayer a daily lifestyle or only an occasional activity in my life?
* What distractions prevent me from spending quality time with God?

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, teach me to remain in constant fellowship with You. Help me to develop a disciplined and joyful prayer life that honors You each day. May my heart continually seek Your presence, and may my life reflect the peace and strength that come from walking closely with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ACTION STEP
Schedule three specific times today for prayer and intentionally spend a few moments talking with God throughout your daily activities.

DAILY DECLARATION
I will remain in constant fellowship with God. My heart is continually connected to Him, and my life is strengthened through prayer.

WORD FOR TODAY
A life of continual prayer is a life of continual communion with God.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: FRIDAY, 7TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: PRAYER THAT CHANGES THINGS

SCRIPTURE: James 5:16 – “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:
Prayer remains one of the greatest gifts God has given His children. It is through prayer that impossible situations are transformed, hearts are changed, and God’s power is revealed. James reminds us that fervent and sincere prayer is effective because it is offered in faith to a faithful God.
Elijah was an ordinary man, yet his prayers produced extraordinary results because he trusted completely in God’s power. His example teaches us that God is not looking for perfect people but for believers who depend wholeheartedly on Him. Every sincere prayer offered according to God’s will has significance in heaven.
Fervent prayer is more than repeating words; it is praying with conviction, expectation, humility, and perseverance. Such prayer reflects complete dependence upon God rather than confidence in human ability.
As you come before God today, refuse to pray with doubt or fear. Pray boldly, believing that He hears every word and is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think. Trust Him to answer according to His perfect wisdom and timing.

REFLECTION:
• Are my prayers filled with faith and expectation?
• What impossible situation will I surrender to God today?

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, increase my faith and teach me to pray fervently. Let my prayers bring glory to Your name and produce lasting testimonies according to Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

ACTION STEP:
Write down three specific prayer requests and pray over them faithfully throughout this week.

DAILY DECLARATION:
My prayers are effective because I pray in faith. God hears me, strengthens me, and works mightily in every area of my life. I will remain steadfast, fervent, and full of expectation.

WORD FOR TODAY:
Faith-filled, fervent prayer changes lives and glorifies God.

DAILY ENCOUNTER WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL:

BY REV NELSON YOHANNA

DATE: THURSDAY, 6TH AUGUST 2026

TOPIC: THE POWER OF UNITED PRAYER

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 18:19 – “If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them.”

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:
God delights in the unity of His people. Throughout the Bible, some of the greatest demonstrations of God’s power occurred when believers gathered together in one accord to seek His face. United prayer strengthens faith, encourages believers, and creates an atmosphere where God’s presence is powerfully manifested.
The early Church devoted themselves to corporate prayer. Their unity brought boldness, miracles, divine protection, and supernatural breakthroughs. When God’s people lay aside selfish interests and pray with one heart, they become a powerful force for advancing His kingdom.
Corporate prayer also reminds us that Christianity is not meant to be lived in isolation. We are called to strengthen one another, bear one another’s burdens, and seek God together. There is encouragement that comes from hearing others pray and seeing God answer collective petitions.
Make it a habit to pray with your family, church, or fellow believers. As you stand together in faith, expect God to move in extraordinary ways and accomplish what no individual effort could achieve alone.

REFLECTION:
• Do I value praying together with other believers?
• How can I encourage others to participate in prayer?

PRAYER:
Father, unite Your people in love and prayer. Let our agreement bring glory to Your name and release Your power in our families, churches, and communities. Amen.

ACTION STEP:
Join someone today in prayer.

DAILY DECLARATION:
As we pray together in unity, God’s power is revealed. Our prayers bring healing, restoration, and breakthrough.

WORD FOR TODAY:
Unity in prayer invites God’s mighty hand.
