Everyone needs counsel at one point or the other. We often take these counsels from those we surround ourselves with. Some of the counsel received transform and give meaning to life while some counsel preserve the receiver for destruction. At every critical point when there seem to be no way out, from whom do you receive counsel? Some counsellors are from hell - the advocate of devil, there mission is kill and destroy. Some counsellors wish you well but they are myopic and lack deep insight of the matter at hand and so there counsel cause more damage than good.

The outcome and consequences of adopting a particular counsel may be for life. The counsel you receive can change the trajectory of your life, vision, ambition and destination.

Amnon, the first son of David, the crown Prince received counsel from his cousin Jonathan. Jonadab helped him skimmed how to r**e his sister. He successfully executed the plot. What happened to him later in life? He paid with his life in terrible fashion and never became king.

Haman was bent on destroying Mordecai and all the Jew in the empire of King Ahaserus. Ideas were forming in his head and more ideas needed. Hamam wanted to make a statement with Mordecai and he finally received the counsel of his wife and friends.
Esth 5:14: "So Haman’s wife, Zeresh, and all his friends suggested, “Set up a sharpened pole that stands seventy-five feet tall, and in the morning ask the king to impale Mordecai on it. When this is done, you can go on your merry way to the banquet with the king.” This pleased Haman, and he ordered the pole set up."

Unfortunately for Haman, the table was turned and he ended up been hung on the pole he set up.

In 1 Kings 12, Reheboam had just inherited his father's throne and there was a genuine concern from the people. They wanted him to relax some policy in the country and they would remain loyal to him as they were to his father. He conferred with his father's counsellors and also with his own friends. He decided to go with the counsel of his friends. He ended up losing ten tribes - a large part of the kingdom.

Who do you get counsel from whenever you are in a strait situation or circumstance?
Do you present the counsel before the Lord before you carry it out
Do you even allow the Spirit of God counsel you?

The counsel you receive can make or mar your life. It can also redirect the trajectory of your life so beware of counsel from hell. Subject every counsel to the scrutiny of the the Holy Spirit before adopting it.

Talk is cheap.

It is easy to do things by mere saying it but the experience is different when it comes to the time of actualization. Anybody can give opinion and suggest ideas as long as they are not to be held accountable for the outcome.

For instance, I never know how to play ball but I could analyze football matches and players with certain degree of accuracy when I was a committed football fan.

It is a different ball game when you are on the football field facing the opponent real-time then you will realize that a pass isn't simple afterall because you have a split seconds to make a decision you are going to be responsible for.

The picture and understanding you have of a situation from the outside is quite different from the actual scenario when you are fully involved.

I have seen people criticize a system when they are not yet part of the set up of that system (I have done that too). They seem to have all the answers and only waiting for the opportunity to implement them.

The same set of people, most of the time flop big time when they are saddled with the responsibility to fix the system. What you may not realize is that people who make decisions face a lot of factors that are hidden from people who are not part the system.

My question to you is what can you do differently, efficiently and effectively from what is obtainable in that place right now that will produce an outstanding result?

Remember, the view from the outside is always different from what is obtained when you get inside formally so be careful how you criticized and condemn those at the helm of affairs in your organization, school, church, country because talk is cheap.

Being Cheap is not inferior

A lot of people have this notion that when a product or service is cheap then it is inferior or of a very poor quality.

As an educator, I witness in some instances where people paid so much for educational services and got little or no returns.
The reluctantly settle for a cheap service and to their amazement see a lot of improvement.

Personally, people plead with me to render services free or at highly reduced cost. When I eventually agree to help the gesture is taken for granted because it comes so cheap or free.

I have learnt my lessons.

Kind hearted people are not appreciated because they make their services cheap. People who put humanity first are treated with less regard compared to those who put money first.

There is this phone brand that penetrated the Nigeria market years back because it came cheap and was competing with the main brand then. Those who used and embraced the product then were seen as poor.

Fast forward to the present, this same product is one of the industry best. Those who use it now are no longer ashamed because the price gap is not so much now.

In the same vein, salvation is less valued because it comes fully paid for. Sin has been around for long and is still around.

Sin is expensive to maintain but looks prestigious and gorgeous. Those who avoid sin are regarded as uncivilized and so on.

Jesus came in lowly form and paid the full price of salvation - He made it free for all man kind.

He removed the heavy burden and works attached to righteousness under the law and sin. The only demand placed on salvation is believe in Jesus as the son of God.

Rather than just believe and receive the benefits of salvation some people desire to earn their salvation.

They refuse to trust Jesus' provision; they want to ensure they work hard towards their salvation.

We are to WORKOUT our salvation not work hard towards salvation.

Since Jesus made it so cheap - in actual fact it is so free, it is not so appreciated.

I know a brother who shut down his computer training Centre. The reason being that he set a price about four times lower than the industry going rate.

His intention was to empower so many people with so little but with what he has seen so far he felt stupid to think people wanted something cheap.

Unlike this brother Jesus will not withhold his grace and gifts that has already been released but those who refuse this gift and grace have themselves to blame.

It cost nothing to receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour but it would cost you every thing if you refuse his love.

Salvation is cheap - salvation is free but it is the best gift you can get for yourself.

The Making process

Matthew 4:19
[19] “COME , FOLLOW me,” Jesus said, “and I WILL MAKE YOU... "


The most beautiful fabrics does not automatically become a dress unless it goes through a process. Having observed some designers the dress making process in my opinion could be summarized into three stages. These stages also describe the making of a man. They are
1. Cutting
2. Joining/Sewing
3. Design and Finishing

The cutting
Some fashion designers are notorious for defaulting on delivery dates.
Imagine, you are due to collect your dress on given date, you arrived there and found it in pieces! Taking it away at that point is pointless.

No matter how beautiful the fabric is it has to be cut into parts. The fashion designer has a particular pattern in mind before cutting the fabrics. While cutting he/she must have made certain assumptions and allowances to make the dress come out good.

Only a more experience and professional fashion designer can sew a cut fabric from another designer.

The cutting stage of making looks as if nothing is happening. Everything thing looks disjointed and disconnected. It is difficult to see the connecting dots at this stage if you don't trust God enough to complete what he started. Many turned back at this stage and have their lives in pieces apart. Stay the course.

The Joining and Sewing
If a fabric has mouth to speak it will complian about the multiple painful piercings of the neddle into its members.
As the fashion designer joins the part he/she is also pressing with a hit iron to ensure theurller) there is a perfect alignment of the parts to one another.

At this stage the dress begins to take shape looking more and more like the perfect dress you were promised.

Some people will get stuck here. At this stage things are tough at they beginning but you will meet with people and find destiny defining moments. You have more clarity here of what God's intends for your life. The hand of God is evident on your endeavours at this stage but He is not through with you. Don't get ahead of yourself, there is much more God can still do with you.

The designing and finishing
You can definitely wear that dress after the sewing without any design. But imagine how elegant it will look on you when a unique design is done on it. Everyone compliments you and whats to know your designers. Not just that, at this stage attention is paid to every other minor detail that makes a lot of difference in the dress like the zip, edges, button etc.

After all has been done the designer is proud to hang or display his work for all to see. The owner of the dress is also happy with how the fabric turned out.

God does not just what to leave us at that cutting and joining stage. He wants to finish all that is needed for us to be worthy of his presence on earth.

Jesus called some people and made them. The disciples did not even realize what they were being turned into.
They thought all is done done when Jesus was arrested and crucified.

Then Jesus resurrected from the dead appeared to them several times and their hope was renew but then he ascended and left them.

The icing on the cake for the disciples was the descent of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. On that day their making was complete. The whole city saw and witnessed it. The miracles kept coming and the kingdom of God began to expand.

The making is not simple nor easy but anyone who will COME to Jesus and FOLLOW will be MADE.

Stay Connected

In electrical installations current flows steadily when the connection is properly done. Poor or improper installations breaks the flow of current partially or permanently.

In other to reduce cost, or cheat the system many people join electrical wires together in abnormal fashion. These wires overtime begin to miss contact, short circuit or becomes open such that it results in electrical hazards.

Sometimes it result in massive sparks that eventually turn into an outright fire outbreak when not controlled. Atimes there may be no spark or fire but the current that reaches the end point cannot power anything.

Ideally, a Christian should be well connected to God. Connection here implies allowing God pour his all in you, communing with God as much as possible, having constant fellowship and getting refreshed by the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit, the life inside of a believer - a spiritual current flows inside of the believer but the mind and body acting like insulator, grounding and circuit breakers can be so obstructive and uncooperative thereby obstructing or stopping the flow of the Spirit. Some people are not even connected to Him in the first place because they have never confessed Jesus as Lord and God.

The Holy Spirit remains ever present, ready and willing to be with us to shine forth the light of God but our mind is not always connected. Our minds is always filled with thoughts and experiences that limits the flow.

The free flow of the Holy Spirit is often influenced by unbelief, insufficient knowledge of the word of God and the lack of understanding of God's true nature.

Sometimes, the flow is completely broken just as circuit breakers cut off electricity in electrical installations. A believer without the working of the Holy Spirit is harmless, vulnerable, weak and exposed to all manner of influences.

Little wonder why we pray but receive no answer? We are praying without the Spirit.
You are thinking you get an idea from God but it backfired terribly? No, it is a result of partial contact - the full package did not reach its end product.
You are thinking, why is God's promise unfilled till now? The promise of God came by the Spirit and has to be fulfilled by the Spirit but you are out oof tune with the Holy Spirit!

The connection we have with God must be right, constant and upto date . The mind should be worked on so as to eliminate its insulating capacity.

Enough of the constant sparks and spiritual circuit breaks believers experience. Let the connections be smooth and the flow seamless.

Allow the Holy Spirit to work out his wonders inside of you. Build a relation with God, pray in the Spirit, immerse yourself in the word, be God and christ conscious and see how his wonders will transform you.

Speaking in tongues or not

Like many skeptics today I used to be against speaking in tongues. (I use speaking to tongue here to mean both edifying yourself in tongues and praying in tongues.) My perspective changed with more impactful knowledge and understanding. I resisted tongues many times and careful not to speak in the midst of "older and spiritual" Christians.

There are many reasons accounting for that based on what we were taught.
First, it is for some selected few
Secondly, m it must be a known language
Third, you only speak in tongue when the prayer is very hot and to destroy the enemy
Fourth, the spirit must come on you violently with vibration.
Fifth, when you speak in tongue you must interpret immediately and so on because the list is endless.

One of the core tenet of the Christian denomination I belong to which is CAC is, "The baptism of the Holy Spirit for BELIEVERS with signs following." The first sign of the Holy Spirit baptism is speaking in Tongues which is not and should not be one off experience.

As much as many theatrics surround tongues in the Christian community today it is still one of the main distinctive feature of the church. For those who understand, tongues are divine language of the kingdom of God.

There have been argument and criticism here and there that many people, especially youth are speaking "fake tongues."

First, the fact that some people speak fake tongue confirms that the original exists. But how do you know a fake tongue when you have never been baptist in the Holy Ghost nor speak in tongues your self?

Is the tongue fake because it does sound like the pattern in your denomination? Certain pattern of tongues are prevalent in some denominations.

Is it fake because it was not interpreted? Not all tongues are meant to be interpreted

Is it fake because "you did not feel the presence or power of God?" Sometimes, the person speaks for personal edification.

To speak and condemn tongues is a sin against the Holy Spirit which have no forgiveness.

If you are not comfortable with people speaking in Tongues freely please do not go to their meetings because you are short changing yourself. This is one of the reasons we have many Christian denominations.

A person is communicating with his maker and building up his most Holy faith. The person speaking or praying in tongues does so out of his personal conviction and understanding.

Stick to your own convictions.

If my conviction is to speak/pray in tongues 24 hours a day, let me be and if your conviction is to shout at God, kill and destroy all your enemies by fire, clap and vibrate endlessly - I leave you to that.

However, all things must be by the Holy Spirit. We must also judge by the spirit and the standard of the Word not by our emotions or feelings.

There is much more work to do in the vineyard of Christ than arguing over the most basic and fundamentals of our faith.

Harvest from your labour

Laban, Jacob's father in law was a terrible employer of labour, a man user and an indirect slave master.

Laban and Jacob had an agreement: work for me for seven years in return for my daughter. After seven years Jacob was given Leah instead of Rachael. He had to work another 7 years for the woman he loves. As if that was not enough, Laban changed Jacob's wages 10 times even as he worked in very harsh condition and redeemed all losses.

Laban is a good example of frenemy. He does not want you jobless and also does not want you to prosper in the job.

Laban does not have any good plan for Jacob. He used Jacob to build his business empire. If not for God's intervention he would not have let Jacob go away with his wives and children. He even bound him by an oath not to marry other women apart from his daughters and their maids - a deviation from the custom prevalent then.

The sweet part of the gist is how God re-channel the wealth of Laban back to Jacob. The bulk of Laban's wealth was transfered to Jacob through the wisdom God gave him and the assistant of the angel of God (Read Gen 30 and 31). By agreement, Jacob is the reason Laban was blessed in the first place and due to his dubious dealing God returned the wealth to Jacob.

This is good news for somebody: you have been cheated and treated unfairly - God is compensating you big time.

People have taken what originally belongs to you but right now your lot is being restored to you.

That person who is diabolically enriching himself at your expense begins to work for your prosperity from now on in Jesus name.

All your rights and privileges that have been denied or partially paid is released now in the name of Jesus Christ.

God Almighty who transfered the wealth Laban accumulated with the sweat of Jacob will compensate you for all your vigorous labour for any cheating/dubious employer in the name of Jesus Christ.

In this new week you reap will harvest of your labour in the name of Jesus.

REACCESS YOUR BELIEF

Before you became born again you go about your normal business unopposed. People from your village do not disturb or interfere with your life. You sleep and wake up normal.

Now you are born again
You have seen the light
Now you pray and fast more
You study the Bible more and
You are baptized in the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in Tongues
You work in miracles, signs and wonders
Everyone knows that you are a child of God, anointed and full of grace

How come your village people now have more access to you now than before?
How come demons now surpress you as a child of God which they couldn't do when you were living your own life?
How come that you now have terrible dreams as a born again Christian which you don't have before?
How come that your spiritual peace is taken away now that you are in Christ Jesus?

There is this fallacy gaining so much attention amongst believers:
- The more you pray the more you are attacked
- When you cast out demons they will come for you too
- The evidence that you are anointed is that you must face spiritual attacks
- The more you pray the more attack and arrows you receive from the enemy

Jesus cast out demons at will - where is it recorded that He suffered any backlash for his actions? The apostles took over from where Jesus stopped, it was never reported that they suffered any spiritual attack or threats.

Even the prophets of old who dwell on the mountain most of the time treated demonic issues like piece of trash but the present generation is elevating it. Moses surpressed all the demons of Egypt so did Elijah neutralized baal. Elijah went forward to cause physical havoc by ordering all the prophets of baal to be killed. (Social, political, legal, family and even relationships are not spiritual issues. Everyone has a share of these).

The spiritual life of a Christian when he starts walking with God is full of peace and calm. A Christian is suppose to see angels ascending and descending.
A Christian sleeps like a baby when he/she wants to sleep
A Christian does not negotiate with demons neither is he/she at their mercy. They tremble before Jesus and we are is kind - we represent and carry God in our members.

If after you accepts Jesus as Lord and Saviour you start experiencing all sort of rubbish your believe has been corrupted with a false knowledge.

The salvation experience and journey is sweet, calm and Joyful.
